I was an auto tech, many vehicles used to have a manual diagnostic test ( for alarms, door switches, central locking) by using door locks and key. I suppose most devices have a diagnostic function, it's just knowing how to access them, thank you for this.

my first mtg 900 i have owned 15 years, i think the power cell is dying.
recover indicator blinks when light is pushed; no light and display is dim kinda like half brightness.
my second mtg 900 i bought used, but new in the box 4 years ago. still had the plastic on the bracelet, i wear this at work.
i have never been let down by g-shock watches, have owned 6 since 1993.
great info, thank's for the knowledge.

    Great channel!
Really informative and makes for enjoyable viewing, has totally informed my decision to try and get me a GWM500/GWM530 at some point (imeho a more truer evolution of the DW6900 over the GW6900, plus it looks sleeker, cooler, and more futuristic imeho too).
I noticed this on another review video so thought I'd chime in.:)
The module number refers to in a sense the 'base model/module' on which a given module is designed from.
So for example 3179 should denote a GW6900 but it also is present in the MTGM900, the GW2310, and the GWM500, for example.
Sometimes a revision number of sorts is present also if additional features have been added, or sometimes just the layout of the LCD or button operation is different, eg - 4 button or 5 button arrangement.
Another example is 3031, most commonly viewed as the Mudman/G9000 module mainly as its stamped on the caseback of said watch, but its present in watches like the G7900 and GLS100 also when one views the test screen.
I think Casio/G-Shock kinda stopped doing this past around 2013 and by and large what you see on the case back will match the number seen in the test screen but this 'different module number' thing is present in loads of their watches previous to this.

Good information. It’s becoming evident that many modules share components even if the final iterations look significantly different. I recently discovered some inexpensive Casios which don’t have countdown timers but you CAN open up the modules and scrape off a blob of solder to activate that feature. Why is that possible? It’s becoming less puzzling.

Mine is 12 years old, wear it every day, all the buttons are jammed except the light. Takes about 2 days to auto-set daylight savings time.

Hi, I liked your video I did not know that we could run diagnostics on these watches. I've my MTG900 for 16 years and I absolutely love it. I also have a module 3405 that I love as well. I've been using Casio watches since I've been a kid. I have a question though...both of my watches haven't received reception in over a month. They both have been receiving until they stopped in July, as it shows the last reception received. What could be the reason?

EMI / RFI Electromagnetic Interference / Radio Frequency Interference. The WWIV radio signal in North America is on a harmonic of 60 Hz, so AC electrical line noise, noise from AC electrical devices plugged in and LED bulbs generally tend to jam out the weak signal indoors, sometimes even at night when the watch is left on a window facing Colorado.
Try leaving the watch outside of the house somewhere electrically quiet between midnight and 5:00 a.m. You could leave it on a patio or enclosed porch facing Colorado, or even leave it on the dash of your vehicle for a night. Just remember to get it off the dash before it gets full sun, it's not the light, it's the heat that you don't want to damage your internals.

The radio signal 3 bar receive display is missing on the new watches. How do you know if you received a good signal?

During the first test that shows the atomic clock frequencies, I pressed the A button and a “:” toggled on/off in front of the frequency value. When I pressed the B button the U changed to UNG but I could not toggle it back. Any idea what occurred with each of these adjustments?

There are still some parts available from pacparts.com if you want to do some kind of restoration. www.pacparts.com/model.cfm?mfg=Casio&model_id=MTG900DA%2D8V&row_start=1&src_model_id=mtg%20900&action=list_part
Mine is looking a bit ragged lately and I think I will keep it that way since I already have the newer version too.

Do you know if the atomic timekeeping works worldwide as in WORLDwide? I will most likely take my M5610-1ER to Africa next year but no African city is listed in the Multiband 6 list, so I wondered If I will still receive a signal.

Africa doesn't have a transmitter. The closest one is Germany which has range of about 1500k. If you set it manually its specs say accuracy within 15 secs/month.

I let my battery run down completely and none of my buttons do anything now. Its display works (giving me a time that I can't change) though. I don't know what I can do to get it working properly again.

Keep charging it. When the power level reaches “mid” then all of the functions should be available. I did a video about reviving a tough solar watch which wasn’t working at all when I received it... ruclips.net/video/4StC6fKpIZs/видео.html
