I definitely agree about the nitpicks.... especially storage space...this car could definitely be better, but it's ok and I'm getting used to it. I just got the 2025 PHEV Premium Plus in January and since it's my 1st Mazda, it took dinner adjustments. FYI, there is a setting to keep the Carplay touchscreen active while driving.
I have a 21 Rav4 Prime and it’s been great. I really like driving electric so my next car will be a BEV unless there is some kind of leap forward in the PHEV range. So I watch mostly car videos about EVs and some like to say that PHEVs are bad because people don’t plug them in. I’ve looked for any research supporting that here in the US and I haven’t found any. It’s been an issue in Europe where people were incentivized to buy/lease a PHEV that they really couldn’t plug in. I’ve heard that some owners of Wrangler 4xe’s buy them because it’s a good package for the price. So that could be true, but once again, I don’t see any data. In general I’d think that logically people who spend extra for the premium of having a plug in will plug it in, especially if it has usable range. I drive mine in EV mode as much as I can. In town it’s a great EV and on the freeway it’s a great hybrid that is very efficient. It’s not the nicest sounding vehicle to drive in town in hybrid mode, but I really only do that when I’m on a road trip and I’ve run out of EV range. I can charge it using the engine but that drops the efficiency from something like 35 mpg to about 21 mpg, so I rarely use it. If I was going for a 3 row right now I’d get a heavily discounted EV 9.
I had a cx90 as a rental for a few days. There was some pros but a shocking amount of cons (some small but some just outright stupid). The overall experience was a mixed bag
Huge noisy riding, cramped interior especially the third row, jerky EV movement and poor mpg do stop me to consider. Either go for Grand Highlander or pay more for TX for better interior built.
99% of third row occupants are either children or canines. The 1% can ask second row occupants to slide their seats slightly forward. Agree with the rest of the cons. I will add a major con. The seat pads are extremely short which means if you are 6’ or taller you will have very poor thigh support. I am 6’ 1” and that issue alone was the deal breaker.
@@dnice362 grand highlander is miles better than the cx90 From every single level. Exterior design wise GH is miles better and people who are buying vehicles like the grand highlander or cx90 don't Care about the driving experience. If they care about that. They would buy a sports car.
@ design!? lol that’s subjective and tell me one Toyota that’s looks good outside (imo) the Supra? lol they are hideous design. The Highlander is not even close to be as fun to drive either. The miles and electric sure that’s probably better but that’s it. Also all Mazda vehicles are gorgeous
Begining with the low-space third row is absolutely non smart. Third row is for children. That’s why people buy this kind of car, mate, family of 6 or 7. Think about it.
Special thanks to our Patreons for their support of the channel! CX90 or Grand Highlander?
what about an idea for a face-to-face comparison of the CX-90 and Grand Highlander - features, prices etc
Grand highlander without a question
I have been driving the PHEV for 1 year now and this assessment of Pros and Cons is 100% correct.
@@kenmenezes7499 thanks 😎👊

@@mlmc58 nice! Thanks
You can touch all Mazda screens after 23 while driving just turn the feature off
Does this model have CTS, which should keep the car centred within the lane? Was this your experience
Funny the CX9 3rd row was bigger 😮 but this looks amazing and well built plus with 50mpg its a win🎉

Space is just not good for what it is. It’s a great lease or rental. For a family vehicle it’s got so much space issues.

Is it the 2.5 turbo that combines with the electric motor or just a 2.5 litre?
No turbo

This destroys any honda or acura

@ easily. Made in japan, better interior, rwd based and plug in technology no acura has

Not sure bout that. Looks and drive this is 100x better, in fact as many times as you can time something that’s how much better this is
