A lot of car reviewers say the same thing about the cx90: “It cost too much” because it’s a Mazda. However, the top trim Pilot and Highlander cost about the same but no one complains about their pricing for some reason.
For 25 they did away with the Preferred Plus and combined those extra options into the Preferred and even lowered the cost. Was quoted 41k with 2.9 financing..seems like a steal..the Preferred is fairly loaded and seems to blow away the competition at that price given the features
Exactly! This car literally based on rwd platform and has inline6 engine meanwhile both and toyota and honda still have the guts to charged so much for fwd crossovers that adds to massive front overhang yuckk
Solid, well-reasoned review as always. I'm Eight months into my 2024 CX-90 PHEV Premium Plus, and still absolutely love it. My only (small) disappointments with the vehicle are both relating to the PHEV's 'packaging'. Unlike most other brands, Mazda positions the PHEV as the 'mid-level' model (...I get it: the Inline 6 is the star). But apparently, in order to keep costs down, several highly touted elements of the "Premium Plus" package on every other model are rather surreptitiously deleted from the PHEV: a) Driver Personalization System - key portions like "Ideal Driving Position Assist" just aren't available and the power steering adjustment isn't available at all. b) Full-Width Taillamps - This 'finishing touch' (illuminated lenses in the tailgate) is unavailable on any PHEV model regardless of trim level. This, despite their being in every advertisement, and even on the animated version of the vehicle that appears in the instrument cluster every time I start the car. I had no idea until 3 days after I got the car home. c) 2nd Row Bench (avail. for 2025). - Mazda made a calculation that 'most' who opted for the Premium Plus package would prefer the captain's chair configuration. "Choice" is a big part of 'luxury'. I'm one who would have preferred a bench. Clearly, Mazda got that feedback as it's now available for 2025. While none of these are huge issues, they are among the reasons I decided to lease. Mazda has a history of making tweaks like these on the fly. I have no doubt these minor details will be worked out by the time I'm ready for a new one! One small 'quibble' with your review: you mentioned that the USB ports are "the only 3rd row amenity." As with about 50% of the reviews I've seen, you missed that there ARE indeed A/C vents. Granted, located low on the armrest/rear wheel hump just above knee level, the location is less than optimal, but on a hot day it is considerably better than nothing.
I don’t quite believe that top trim shoppers prefer captain chairs to a second row bench. I don’t know how Mazda arrived at this conclusion, regardless of what they say. Replacing my 2019 CX-9 Signature with another Mazda will be difficult, as I prefer a second row bench but like to have the third row seats just in case. So, currently I don’t know I will go for the Cx-90, the CX-70, or a completely different brand. The MDX is an appealing choice, but I don’t like Acura’s excessive use of the black piano plastic on the dashboard.
Family of 4 that's about to grow to a family of 5 in June 26th our 3rd child on the way...captains chairs and 6 seats is our preference to have more room for bags, toys, kids things etc and storage in this case with the center console...speak for your own personal preference
Very good review. I am liking this CX-90 as my family vehicle. Some things that concern me are the space, I prefer the captains chairs but the third row is too small, for a car that looks this big the interior is snug lol

Personally I just think a lot of these medium size three row crossovers have gotten a lot more expensive than they need to be.
Yeah even for kia and hyundais the pricing is just ridiculous.

I had a CX nine for Lyft a couple days before Thanksgiving and the driver said that Lyft doesn’t qualify the CX 90 for Lyft Excel

Can’t stand that orangish color.
