Appreciate the video. I like that you’re showing examples from the northeast. I’ve been flying in this area for 30+ years and I still haven’t figured out the magical formula. I have used FlightAware to see routing others have flown but often small airport to small airport routes just aren’t there. Same goes for Garmin Pilot. I really wish we could get PDC for our small planes for small airports. I’ll echo what you said about the letter of agreements between facilities. I have had some strange altitudes and routing assigned. It would be nice if these were available to view. It would help sort out the mystery to some of these routings. Keep up the good work! Your contents serves as a great refresher for us saltier types. 😊
What about in a /A equipped plane? The departure and en-route phases seem straight forward enough. But upon reaching HARRP, a non-GPS plane would be unable to go direct destination. Would ATC just start assigning vectors? Or "fly outbound on the such-and-such radial from the VOR, report airport in sight"? I ask because I find myself in a non-GPS, VOR/DME plane often these and we are considering getting it back to IFR current. Obviously a full-flight video for such a rare situation these days would be a lot of work just for little ol' me, but would be cool to see (bonus if it's single VOR/DME)!
So could you have canceled the filed flight plan then create a new one with the expected routing already in there? Just wondering if there’s any advantage or disadvantages. Thanks for another great video.
Foreflight routes is where I would go after checking WX and winds. If I did not like the options based on aircraft performance, altitude or route you can create your own or pick something close and expect the amendment. Thanks.
Do you find that ForeFlight has more of the routings for smaller airports to smaller airports? Garmin Pilot leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to routing. One feature that would be nice is if they could show routes to nearby airports near your destination. At least then you might have a chance of seeing a route that you could use for a smaller airport that doesn’t have a route.
First time I got first comment 😂. Thanks for helping me get my instrument and commercial ratings.
Great depth of information on this video! I think you slowed down on the delivery information, which made everything clearer.
I like your channel more than anyone else’s

Dude, i`m currently flying out of HPN... Are you around the area? You have the BEST instructional videos i`ve seen you youtube!
Another amazing video. You are simply the best. Thank you.
this dude’s awesome: “right beneath Peppa Pig” 😂
I was laughing at that too.

I agree this is a useful video thanks. 😊

Solid advice
Very nice video
Yes, exactly, the computer gives random IFR routes with zero regard to flight planning or aircraft type. Isn't that... weird?..
