DP is the best interviewer in the Biz! He isn't worried about making himself the story, he knows what questions to ask and he let's the guests answer. Great Job, Costner is Amazing!!!
I guess Im asking randomly but does someone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
All his films are fab - never been disappointed with any of them. He is such a genuine person and I love listening to him talk - so down to earth and honest
Great interview. Costner surpassed those actors like Gibson ,Penn & Gere. His body of work of 40 years will endure and entertain future generations. Liked the idea of "Basket Cases" for a movie. Liked that he revealed that he tried for Schindler's List, but didn't get it.
Listening to him talk about details is why he is an entertaining actor, interview and human. He understands what is at stake, he understands how to entertain, he floats between dead serious and casual irreverence so damn easily. Even the worst of his movies and there are only a few bad ones, are damn entertaining. Just look at the role in Molly's Game.....5-7 minutes of screen time and hella memorable.
Excellent interview seeing the real side of Kevin Costner's world. I am so glad he directs, produces, acts, in Westerns. He is and will be my favorite actor of this time period.
KC, there just aren’t actors or plain men like you anymore! You are so truthful, and yet you will go to no ends to get the part or the job if you will. We respect you as an American! And we respect all your hard work, whether it’s acting or direct, you are what a man should be 👏
Loved Him in McFarland..about a real guy who was a high school teacher and track coach who took some poor Latino kids and made them State Long Distance running champions..but then I am a teacher!!
Dan, you have to know you were always the # 1 guy on the sports shows...nobody compares. I saw it back at ESPN w/you and the man who went far left in politics ( he was good on ESPN show (Keith O.) Anyway, if there is any way in the world it's possible for you to ever see this question...PLEASE have Mr. Costner on whenever you can? I think the best shows where you talk to people is when he is on. He surely seems like a straight type guy, no great ego and praises, speaks highly of other actors...and I believe his admiration of Sean Connery or B. Lancaster, etc, is great to hear. I am very old and usually I hear actors speak of other actors I never heard of. Kevin goes on about his film stories and his rapport w/stars and it is great. Keep it going Dan.
The Burt Lancaster story was a real gift. Kevin talks about being aware when an actor isn't an athlete when they play one. But the way he dived into the ocean as his character in Water World was just classic. He had a perfect physicality for that film. Which is a lot of fun. Great characters, great action, it's funny, it's gorgeous, the score is hip, and what ever happened to that little girl and her career? You ikthy demon.....
I put him in a bracket with guys like Kurt Russell, Dennis Quaid and Kevin Bacon. They can carry a movie and are also great character actors. They are under appreciated IMO
"I gotta make a Western!" That comment has aged pretty well! Maybe not the way we though in a traditional movie sense, but he definitely did a Western.
Open Range is my favourite western. Who can forget Boss Spearman and his cowhands Charley and Mose when they met and faced hostility, and how bold and valiantly they acted, and how romantic and sensitive Charley was.... just wonderful drama and appreciation for life, for love and for hope. You will never be forgotten, Charley.
I found that I was able to relate to Kevin's comment regarding it being hard to accept the World Series Ring if you were out injured. When I was in the Military Police I had just gotten stationed at a new duty station. I had been there, maybe a week. The Championship basketball game was coming up on that Friday night, and they only had exactly 5 guys due to injuries and work schedules. I was asked if I could play basketball. I told them sure I could play decent enough but not knowing how your team plays, or any of the signals and formations they used might make it difficult. I told them I would do it and play if someone got fouled out. At any rate the star player on the team was getting real close to fouling out, but we were now down to the last few seconds with a tie score. I was freaking out because I really didn't want to be put in a situation where the Championship actually hinged off everything I did. Lucky it got down to a couple seconds and the star player launches a shot from half court at the buzzer and it goes in! So at the end we are at half court receiving our Championship plaques and I'm feeling really stupid getting this nice plaque when I didn't even play at all. I mentioned that to one of the guys and he told me, though you didn't play, the rest of us could play and not have to hold back, worrying if someone got fouled out the game would have to be a forfeit due to not having enough players. So my presence actually did make the difference in winning that game. So I decided that made good sense and accepted the plaque, but I really did feel what Kevin was talking about before it was put into perspective for me.
Hey Kevin you always look so great anywhere You are the best actor since I seen you on Dances with Wolves,Silverado and many other movies you were in I have been following you since 1990 I also love watching you in these movies plus I love watching western movies as well it includes horses and I love horses a lot and I love you as well
14:34 All those leading men coming before him, and Costner ended up being one of the most successful leading man 5 years after his first leading role, and even ended up winning two Oscars on his directorial debut. And now he’s at the top again with Yellowstone.
Sequels ruin legacies 9/10. Like a player playing too long or coming out of retirement. Don’t wanna remember Jordan as a Wizard, Unitas as a Charger, Carlton as a Giant etc...
Dan should have asked him about Gary Cooper in Pride of the Yankees. They had to reverse the negative so Cooper a non-athlete right-hander would be on hitting from the left side.
Love the comment on Shoeless Joe; would also add that Joe was from South Carolina and I'm sure didn't sound didn't sound like a New York Italian dude like Ray Liotta. I greatly respect that late Ray Liotta, but it was an odd casting choice with him as Shoeless Joe.
Wish he'd talk about Fandango more, these interviews with Dan Patrick are great because they are longer and he gets a chance to really talk, but it's like they just keep hitting him with Bull Durham. I know its a sports show, how about more on Tin Cup?
Great interview i love tjis movie....after i went hap heartedly to tje fort lauderdale school of baseball camp for a week...they get the credit for getting me hitting .720. Everything i hit was a double or better...Thanks to that school....i was impressed by a friend who went who had the most beautifull swimg in little league every time he was up it was homerun in a straight line...so my mom went an talked to his mom....i was bragging on my good friend mike sincetta....his picture should be in the dictionary....baseball player see inset..photo..no words photo
I love how Kevin really keeps his connection with the other people in the room. Very nice guy.
Kevin Costner is one of my favorite actors. I can’t think of a movie with him that I didn’t enjoy.
Dances with Volves..my all time favorite..probably watched it 25 times..never gets old
very good movie but Scorsese should have one Best Director.
KC, you work so hard, and you are so brilliant! So much respect comes out of your mouth, and so much respect for you and all your work!!!
DP is the best interviewer in the Biz! He isn't worried about making himself the story, he knows what questions to ask and he let's the guests answer. Great Job, Costner is Amazing!!!
Amazing to me that in these interviews DANCES WITH WOLVES is never mentioned - IMO by far the best film, in all areas, that he has done.
Star actor, classic films, still underappreciated
One of the last remaining “mans man” in hollywood.
For Love of the game is underrated.
As is his Robin Hood with Alan Rickman.
I guess Im asking randomly but does someone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the account password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
@Raylan Trace Instablaster ;)
What a great humble actor
Kevin Costner's westerns are the best, I hope he makes another one.
This is a great interview Dan did with Costner. Very indepth, insightful, and honestly fun. .
All his films are fab - never been disappointed with any of them. He is such a genuine person and I love listening to him talk - so down to earth and honest
hes made some of the best sports movies. legend
Plus Waterworld. Probably greatest piece of American cinema
TheJ123 - The period of Waterworld's unfair zeitgeist maligning has ceased.
Smart guy who came up the ranks on his own terms and continues to spew out the best damn movies ever🤗
Perfect comment on a flaming great career.
Great interview. It's the most animated that I've ever seen Kevin Costner.
❤Kevin Costner is a man that loves people and music. I love him. I have a friend that will always love to play for me.

Great Interview..one of the best Kevin Interv iews I have ever seen.
I don't care what anyone says, The Postman is under rated
I wrote a persuasion paper in highschool about that haha
I totally agree. It’s a great movie.
Ive been saying that for years. Ford Lincoln Mercury.
I'll agree with that.
Definitely under rated but far from some of his other movie's.
Loved Him in McFarland..about a real guy who was a high school teacher and track coach who took some poor Latino kids and made them State Long Distance running champions..but then I am a teacher!!
Very good movie
What a perfect interview.

Burt Lancaster was an actual circus trapeze artist. He made a movie about it. A very athletic guy!

A Perfect World is so underrated.

3,000 Miles to Graceland was very underrated, fun movie with good cast, Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell.
I'm a huge Kevin Costner fan and i love most of his movies. But that one bored the shit out of me sadly. Glad you enjoyed it though.
That was a awesome movie
"I gotta make a Western!" That comment has aged pretty well! Maybe not the way we though in a traditional movie sense, but he definitely did a Western.
Enjoying this athlete. He isn't done, I know the surgeon's & they rock!
Love open range. The most underrated western.

Basketball? I would watch that! Sounds like a great storyline! I would buy a ticket to that movie?

Dances with Wolves was my movie. Ta-Tonka!
He hasn’t changed since “Field of dreams”, which I watched on a video. 😃
Would love a sequel to my favourite movie Field of Dreams.

Sequels ruin legacies 9/10. Like a player playing too long or coming out of retirement. Don’t wanna remember Jordan as a Wizard, Unitas as a Charger, Carlton as a Giant etc...
It's based on a book though...

Dan should have asked him about Gary Cooper in Pride of the Yankees. They had to reverse the negative so Cooper a non-athlete right-hander would be on hitting from the left side.
We are not too old!

18:02 hell yeah it was a great question, paul
16:39 mooment- hybrid of movement an moment, means something somewhere in between a movement and a moment.

I almost did not click on this interview because I thought this interview was going to be shot the whole time on water.
Great interview
Yelllowstone on paramount channel. Check it out!
Ironic that people likes Cotsner in westerns. The very first movie that I had ever seen with Costner was Silverado.
Bull Durham wasn't about Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon's relationship.
Dances With Wolves
Now you're talking....it would be awesome.
Well he did play goalie in junior for the Hamilton Mustangs didn't he?
Okay, everyone, I have a trivia question for all of you. "How many sports movies has Kevin Costner starred in?" Think hard before you answer this one.
Open Range!
