I had this reaction yesterday to something I wasn’t even aware I was allergic to. I’m 39 and never experienced anything like that in my life. I took a small bite of a gluten free cookie at night. I realized later that it was the buckwheat flour I was allergic to. About a few seconds after swallowing the cookie I realized something was wrong, ran to the toilet and vomited violently, then my tongue started to swell up huge and I could barely talk or even swallow because my throat swelled up as well. I started to realize I couldn’t breathe because my nose was completely closed up from the vomiting and my throat was closing. I was terrified and thought I had to get my kids up to drive to the hospital or call an ambulance. I tried some allergy medicine and just poured it down my throat and on my tongue and tried to calm myself down. The medicine worked and reduced the swelling of my tongue and throat. It was hours before I could properly swallow or breathe comfortably. This is soooo scary. I’m allergic to a few foods but this caught me way off guard because I wasn’t even aware of this one. Years ago I remember throwing up violently after taking a bite of gluten free pasta, they also contained buckwheat but I wasn’t able to make the connection till now.
Get allergy tested if you have allergies to anything, there might be other things you are allergic to that you don’t know until you find out the hard way.

I went into anaphylactic shock 2 weeks ago a few minutes after getting an IV injection of a radiographic tracer for a PET scan. I thought I was going to die. Before I passed out I told the tech I had heart problems and not to give me epinephrine. He gave me 500 mg of hydrocortisone IM. I started to feel better right away. So scary.

Happened to me last week. I was for vacation in Switzerland and on the last day i got stung by a wasp. I had no idea i was allergic but had hundreds of hives in 30 mins. I took an allergic medicine and it was gone.
Later, i drove to Germany and i was waiting outside a restaurant for my food and i lost consciousness. I fell head first on the hard cobblestone floor. It hit my head, the sharp stone almost pierced my ear. My shoulders and knees were bleeding while i was unconscious. Luckily, the Germans are taught well about these situations. A girl held me up, another guy called the ambulance, checked on my breathing. I was in hospital for 2 days

I went through this shock yesterday. It was the worst. My oxygen dropped to 85 SPO2. I was soo shocked. At first I was feeling nose block it starts increasing so vigorously that before reaching a step into the hospital I felt like I’m going faint. It’s like someone pushing a pillow hard on my face.
My whole body swelled. I ate octopus that I was unaware of.
    Alhumdurillah I’m fine now.

I carry an epi-pen at all times. You should have two for if the first one doesn’t work. Then call an Ambulance. I am 80 and have been allergic to pea nuts since birth.

You said during first exposure that the allergin may not bind unto the IgE, and during second it will, does it mea that during the second the whole process starts again or do the igE just wait days or months for the second anaphylactic to occur
Or does the whole.process jut start again

When i was 16, after coming hone from school, i took a nap and after that my eyes were swollen . My parents were out of town so i slept without any medication . The next day when i woke up for school my eyes were less swollen but i had hives every where . They started from my neck and started spreading . Then went to a doctor who took my blood samples and asked me to wait for results. Hives then continued for 3 4 days followed by itchiness vomiting . Then the day i went to hospital I was on the verge of collapsing everything was getting dark and dizzy .
Can somebody confirm if i had an anaphylaxit shock?

a fellow RUclipsr named Graham Dingo Dinkleman, from South Africa got bit by one of his own Green Mambas and had a severe allergy to snake venom. this wasn’t his first envenomation but this time he went into anaphylactic shock and was rushed to the hospital. He was in an induced coma for about 3 weeks. they tried to pull him out but he slipped back into coma and passed away Saturday. I’m trying to understand what happened to his body when both events happened at the same time. I don’t know if you could make a video breaking down venomous snake bite and anaphylactic shock? I’m not sure if he had an epipen, but he was a thorough professional so I don’t see why he wouldn’t. I’m just trying to scientifically make sense of an awful situation. thank you. 🤍
