- Winos! I'm tasting 3 comparable wines from the Top Shelf, Middle, and Bottom Shelf to find out how different they really are! I've narrowed it down to 2018 Justin Cabernet Sauvignon, 2018 Josh Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2018 Concannon Cabernet Sauvignon, all from the Paso Robles region! Let's pop the corks on today's WINE LAB!
Dude, I will give you props for appearing to know what your wine but the over the top flamboyancy is driving me nuts.
You must be fun at parties. Focusing on the bad things is not a good way to live.
@@HumanPheromones So you agree it is a bad thing then. It was so bad that it was distracting from the video in my opinion.
Nice job, Vince! Very educational. Justin's Isosceles has been pretty awesome for quite a while. Nice to see that their regular Cab has come up in the world. Not terribly surprised by Concannon, which for many, many years has been known much more for their Petite Sirah.
Hmm.. you just gave me an idea for a new video: Livermore Beasts, Wente & Concannon!
Super interesting! Love your descriptions- and two thumbs up for the blooper at the end. Don’t they know you’re filming?! 🤣
Right?? I gotta get back to those bloopers now that you mention it...
I feel like I could do backflips after drinking Justin. So damn good
Haha, i think i nearly did one myself recording this video!
I love the Justin cab 2018. My sister and I both live cabs but we don't usually like the same ones. I was so excited when we both fell in love with this one. Unfortunately I can only find the 2019 at my local stores and the restaurant I had originally purchased from sells at double the price. Glad to have a few others to try now too.
Yeah I'm really glad I did this, now i want to go visit them!
Great topic. Very useful.
Yay!
Great lineup and video my friend.
Thanks! Let me know if there are any popular wines out there that you'd like to find out whether they're worth the hype ;)
Good Video! Have done similar comparisons myself and usually, similar to your case, it is either the top shelf or the bottom shelf that stands out immediately for their quality (or lack thereof). So usually the mid-tier one is the real head-scratcher. However, just curious, why did you not pick the Justin Isosceles for your top shelf wine? The 2018 is 80%+ Cab Sauv retailing only 50-60$ now and overall much more intense and expressive compared to the standard Justin Cab.
Thanks! Yes, this is the second recommendation I've had this week for Isosceles, I definitely need to give it a try. $50-60 is a little out of my typical everyday price range, but I'm always happy to make an exception here and there.
Treanna and Austin Hope cabs are great.
Justin isn't exactly top shelf. I would put it at the very top of the middle shelf. Around here it's priced at about 25 dollars for a bottle, which is about the maximum that your average middle class consumer would spend on a regular basis.
Well it's top shelf at Safeway in California, haha! Meaning that it's a premium wine. But yes, it certainly does not fall into the ultra premium or luxury catergory. What is your typical range?
Very enjoyable show Vince. I really enjoyed the Justin cab and the Josh cab.
During the rest of the week I obviously left the Concannon for last,, but you know, when not competing with higher tier wines, the Concannon was pretty drinkable. I actually enjoyed it. Nothing special, but certainly a nice wine :)
J. Lohr Hilltop and Daou are some nice Cabs from Paso Robles
Oh TOTALLY agree. I actually had a mid shelf Daou a little over a week ago, it was very drinkable. Of course with them the real good stuff unfortunately come at the $90 price range. Same with J. Lohr (which I used to be a huge fan of, was a Member for a while).
@@VINCEWINE I'm finding the sweet spot is the $20 to $30 range.
That's crazy Art because I think J. Lohr is just terrible and as for the Daou, I actually gave two bottles away as I thought it also was a bad wine as well. I guess everyones palate is different though :)
@@TheDesertWineGuy Or possibly the vintage
Daou is one of my top picks.
Are you willing to make a video about Chardonnay?
Absolutely! In fact, join me this Saturday for my video on Wente Chardonnay :) And of course, I'm always open to suggestions 👍🍷
@@VINCEWINE yes I do actually. It’s called William Hill Chardonnay Napa Valley. It has really great reviews so I was wondering if u would like to check it out (:
I just was in Ralph’s Malibu and they had Josh and Juston wine at the end cap. I was looking at them and when I got home this video popped up on RUclips. Coincidence or does the algorithm know what I’m doing at all times?
Can confirm, the algorithm is always watching 😎😜. Yeah I can't believe how happy I was with the Justin, I really need to try Isosceles
About a thousand descriptions on each wine.. lost interest.. thanks
