It's the moment we've been waiting for! Our neglected little Abandoned Amazon hits the road FINALLY! What was your favorite part?
Stronger than dirt! Thanks from Sweden 🇸🇪
Added another 600 miles to the 1 million already under its belt 😊💪
Just chugging tight along! Took it to dinner tonight too. Smooth sailing!
Wow 🤩!!!!! What a amazing trip! Beautyful footage! I’ll definitive watch it a second time! And probably a third! 😂😂 and a big 👏 for the Amazon to make it all the way back home! Beautyful to see all those perfect 🤩 Volvo’s 😍
Thanks Arie! You aren’t required to watch multiple times but by all means please enjoy!
Nice!
Just tucking in. The sermon from the trunk cut with the trip is a good way to present a long video.
Thank you! I thought it had a nice feel to it.
I also see Mr. Long was working with a zve10. My camera tism won't stop.
What a lovely meet. A bunch of good people doing good things. I should come.
I thought it was funny when you suggested the camera to me. Kyle did the same a while back. Just need the funds!
Good video buddy, some great cars and beautiful countryside. Well done nursing the ol'girl home, it's bloody nerve racking driving a car that could konk out any second.
Cheers man, look after yourself and thanks for the channel 🤘
Thanks! You know it's funny, the car was well behaved all weekend minus a couple dumb things. All stuff I had made attempts to correct before leaving but never got to it. I'd would do it again in a heart beat!
Great video and some awesome looking amazons! Man I need to get mine done! I cant wait to drive it!
It's such a good driving car. I can' wait for you to experience it.
That 1800 really needs to get revived.
Yeah. I want to know how bad it is. I wonder if both could be had
I used to live in that part of the world and I just happened to be near there for that week *sigh* might have made for an interesting day trip. Oh well.
Next time stop in! It's an open event and just a general hangout in the woods for 3-4 days kinda thing.
Nicely done. This is the icing on the cake when it comes to maintaining an old car. Meeting people.
I am a bit jelly, the Amazon is a nice looking car. And I liked your comment about how comfortable it was to drive, apart from the foot ache. Cheers.
You are absolutely right! I'm very fortunate to have a group of friends that love these old cars as much as I do.
My Wagon gives me foot cramp as well. Must be an Amazon quirk. Maybe a PV or 1800 organ pedal would cure it? You probably filled your dizzy with coolant and also had the cap wet too. The dizzy body does have a drain hole but that doesn't get rid of the drops being thrown around. This is what WD-40 was invented to fix. Glad you made it. Pertronix might not have helped a wet cap. My uploads include what a failed timing gear looks and sounds like. Hope you don't have that problem but it happens more often to cars that have been abandoned outside for a long time. Just saying. 🙂
@@delukxy That's a good point. I've heard the dizzy gear can be an issue. I won't be surprised if that ends up being the case.
Dizzy drive gears are fine, it's the fibre timing gears that go. Left for years the fibre can dry out. The fibre is driven by a star shaped centre which is moulded to the fibre. The drying out can loosen the bond between them. Mine had been a bit noisy for a while but went bad driving to a meet about 100 miles away. Got me home OK making the noise you hear in the video. Cruised fairly quietly at 60 mph in overdrive. Rattled its way to my pet garage a few days later. I had a timing gear set in "stock". You can go alloy or even steel if you want to. I stayed with the fibre as they are quieter.
Saab 96 not 99 by the way.
@@delukxy That's interesting about the fibre gears! I thought they were all steel. Thanks for the SAAAB correction!
Great video. I’m a subscriber now. Always nice to see someone wearing one of my shirts. Love the car man.
Welcome to the party! The shirt quality is pretty good btw! If you like this one then you’re going to LOVE the wagon!
This video hit me right in the feels. Great job man, already looking forward to next year!
Looks like I need to build a 240 for next year!
@@DeanofMachines I vote finish the TDI Jeep
@@benchracing_network +1 for finishing the TDI Jeep
@@benchracing_network Tempting
@@benchracing_network And have a smaller(?) springtime overland/offroad Mountain Meet!
Looks like it was a great time. And so many awards! Eventhough the car started acting up in the end, I suppose a trip like this is needed to find out what would eventually need attention anyway. Still haven't gotten a proper road trip in my Amazon. Currently it is at a shop to have the sills replaced. Hoping it doesn't take too long, been a month already.
This was definitely a good teeth cutting trip. Everything that was an issue was something I had noted/tried to fix before hand. Really can't say I was surprised. I CAN say i am very pleased with the car.
Well for me it would have to be the saloon version of the Amazon
Yours is awesome, that stance, on alloys...the patina....and those quarter lites allowing fresh air in......hell yes
Awesome video Dean
Thanks for coming along on the trip!
@@DeanofMachines well worth the ride out 👌🏻
Motivation is what you have given me to start up my motor...👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😉😉😉😉😉😉😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thats what I like to hear!
Greetings from Sweden😅
Welcome to the channel my friend! Youll like it here.
would love to bring my little 122S for 2024's meet but Houston is a long way from North Carolina! Looked so fun though. Great video Dean.
That little car would LOVE a road trip I'm sure!
Also, 2024 is the year of the 240
What great fun driving in a line of Amazons! Nice to see old friends
It was a lot of fun to convoy around together. Next year is supposed to be 240's.
Hi, I hear our Amazon stumbling when idle and at low idle, I had the same problem with my b18 with two barrel Weber. There was nothing wrong with the carburetor, the thing was that on my intake manifold it has connectors for preheating the manifold witch is connected in series with the one of the heating hoses. After that it runs smoothly as a kitten.
Good luck with you Amazon.
Great videos
All the way from Sweden
Kalle Sverin
Hey there Kalle! When I put the Pertronix ignitor kit into my Amazon it fixed my stumbling issue. I'm very happy with it. So much so that I bought another kit for my newest Amazon :)
A+ content as always Dean
Thank you kindly!
Hey Dean! What an amazing experience! Thanks for taking us along the ride. What a great time with great people! And the aband Amazon did a pretty good job!
Marcin! Welcome back, the car was the real MVP of the weekend for sure!
Great video Dean! Points only last 3-5k miles. Probably worn out. Fav part was the round fender caravan. Thanks so much!
Glad you enjoyed! Ditching the points and installing the Pertronix kit solved all of my running issues. Youll see in next weeks video!
I enjoyed this video i wish it was 10 hours long
Thanks Mr Comment! The funny thing about this trip is that we always feel like it’s too short. Many of us look forward to it all year.
@@DeanofMachines man it felt like i was there. What about clear coating the patina on the Volvo, out after all the Volvo’s, Ive never seen a rust so beautiful.
@@AKSSB_Hustle I'm considering linseed oil if I get a chance
@@DeanofMachines its gonna look good. keep winning them medals 🎖️
@@AKSSB_Hustle 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks I'll keep on pushing for excellence...
