2500 kits in the backlog; Gunpla of all grades, Kotobukiya, Moderoid, option parts and add-ons... Been building and collecting for 24 years. So it just adds up as time goes on. I've built about the same amount, a little more. Probably closer to 3,000 kits.

I definitely have a backlog. I don’t think it’s a bad thing because when you eventually build that kit, it’s always satisfying remembering why you wanted to build it in the future. The other plus is depending on how long the backlog is you could enjoy building with others such as friend or family member. Of course you could always sell off some of the kits or give them away. Just depends on how you view it.

Current backlog of 117 kits. Yeah it's not great, it sometimes gives me a little anxiety seeing it, but I like to front load things that I'll enjoy.
So when I have money I'll use a little extra to get things I can do stuff with when I don't.
Recently my partner and I bought a house, now I have no money, but I do have plenty to do!

For me building is a form of stress relief. Having a nice backlog is important, my backlog doesn't eat away at me or stress me out, quite the opposite! Its there when I need to relax and it helps me greatly. If I ever were to let my backlog get too small, the thought that I might reach for something to build and not be able to could actually stress me out!

I currently have seven kits in my backlog, and I got four of them from someone clearing out their backlog last saturday. I've only been building for about a year, so I'm still learning and working on getting better tools but I know that will come with time. And next week I'm going to help my friend build his first Gundam kit! I think he's getting the HG Dilanza sol.

I currently only have 2 in my backlog and 1 I’m building and I tend to build mostly master grades so they do take a bit longer to build than some others which surprises me how I don’t have more backlog although having backlog is kinda nice because I always know there’s another kit to start after I finish the one I’m on

Backlog’s are 100% okay, as long as they don’t tempt you when you have other things to do. My backlog is really small, being the HG Mighty Strike Freedom, HG 00 Raiser + GB Sword III , MG Astray ( Gundam Base Limited ) , and an old 2017 Lego Star Wars Set. Honestly a backlog can be a motivation to do good in school ( which it was for me ) or just something to look forward too.

Backlogs are fine, Gundam saved me during the Pandemic where everything was in complete lockdown. It helped me understand myself and gain some form of accomplishment. The problem was I built everything after I got it, the purpose of the backlog is in case you have the urge to build something or want to get your mind off things or even a brush of inspiration you can build it.

But I totally think donating/selling/gifting parts of your collections that have accumulated over time might actually improve your relationship to the hobby in the long run. Great video as always!

My backlog is basically the wait for my pre-orders, usually the day they come in I start the build, too addicted to stop till all kits are done. Todesritter is one of my fav kits, people bash it for the stickers and loose joints, but I just swapped out the polycaps and it seems fine so far. Plus yeah it's sticker heavy, but if you are patient when applying they really don't look bad.

I used to only have video game backlog but now I have a gunpla backlog. I think one of the main reason why I have a backlog is due to the fear of the item not being reissued in the future. But nowadays I am trying to cut down because I am running out on space to store the physical items.

I think most of us here have a love/hate relationship with backlogs. I once upon a time had a huge backlog (40 unbuilt kits), but due to life changing circumstances I ended up having to sell most of those to local shops to pay for a move. I think now I only have like 3 kits in my backlog (HG Char’s Zaku II, Victory Gundam, & the Victory Booster(?)).

Build the RG Wing Gundam as one of my first, it was a lot of fun and looks amazing, would definitely recommend building it. I personally try to avoid a large backlog. Partially cause the costs run up so I'd feel bad buying more when I still have kits laying around. However I do think it is fine to have some backlog, since it is all about enjoyment. When you get a kit you might be very exited, but then life happens and you just cannot get into it. At thos moments that one kit in the backlog can scratch that itch just right.

4:20 over 20 of vintage and antique gunpla, but don't have a PG kit. I would get bored if I have nothing to build, nothing to do outside. It's not unhealthy to have a backlog when building gunpla. I have seen the Witch from Mercury and 6:53 Gundam Builders REAL shows, with excellent stories. I'll be happy to win a whole backlog in bulk if your interested (I'm a strong builder to pickup a big box.) and just cleared some boxes out of my room with more stuff to get out or put in storage.

  • @AzraelThanatos

I have a small backlog of Gundam kits, but I have several other things to work on as well with different projects.
I think there's about a dozen gundam kits with at least one being a multipack that from what I added from lucking out to be near the Gundam Base Mobile last weekend, and a few partially completed kits that were packed away that I need to get some things to finish them (EG Gramps and Strike along with a NG 1/144 Serpent) that I need to get some primer for a painting project since there's a mix of some photo etch and other addons for the Serpent to try modernizing its articulation.
Part of it is that I build when I actually have time to do it, and tend to buy kits when there's sales or I find one of the ones I'm looking for at a decent price.

I try to keep in mind what I like the finished collection will look like displayed in the cabinet and stick to the kits in my list. I try not to buy a hyped kit impulsively for the fear of missing out. I said I try, I fail sometimes though and make that hyped kit a backlog😆

  • @barrybb5409
    @barrybb5409 23 дня назад

A backlog is not bad. Not all gunpla are going to be available at any given time. If you can buy it now, do so. If you cant oh well, dont worry about it, it will come around again and there are places to find rarer kits now, so its not too terrible.
It does get to be a bit of a problem when the stack turns into a tower and towers turn into 3 or 4 towers though. Im at that point again, so will have to crack down and build. I was at 125 start of this year, currently at 78, but did dip it down into the upper 60s before pbandai orders came in. One thing that certainly slowed me down is doing extra with the gunpla. Not a bad thing, but definitely does take more time and effort. When you get into painting it gets to be a bit more addictive, and takes more time and money lol, but does slow you down a little. It really is hard to balance life and all hobbies and divide time between building and gaming and such.
Lastly my vote is on the real type mk2. Do the whole decal spread, this I command. Youll be glad you did. Lol

If you stay with the hobby long enough, a backlog is inevitable; even if it's a few kits or a lot.
The thing with backlogs is that sometimes life happens and before you know it you have an overwhelming amount of kits in tbe backlog which is a good thing and a bad thing.
But personally, I think having more kits is a good thing. That 1 kit might respark your Gunpla passion again and maybe it'll help you start chipping away at the backlog.
I've been considering to get the RGs from Universal Century lately; especially with the RG 2.0 RX-78-2 Gundam.

I personally don't have an actual backlog. I do have unopened kits that are bought for custom sake, but don't have the rest of the parts, and a few kits that are extras that I intended to sell immediately (I accidentally doubled up some orders). but I do have a backlog of in process customs and one kit I haven't built yet, but it is open and on my workstation. Ultimately, I don't think I could personally have a real backlog, My ADHD would have me not sleep for an entire weekend just building it all (or at least until I make a miscut or break something due to being to tired, then I know for a fact its time to be done)

Backlogs are no problem, i don't have a backlog because i live in a country where they don't sell retail meaning its more expensive to buy from where i am. Right now i only have 2 and in the process of working on my 3rd model. I also limit myself to only getting MGs so that i can control my spending on gunpla since MGs are very limited.

I'm loving that MK2 paint style that you showed

Backlog is totaling out over 50 kits but it doesn’t bother me, I enjoy working on things when I feel like it so when that mood strikes I want to just go pull it off the shelf and work on it not buy it and wait.

I think they are good as long as you dont have IT as much as of if you do have much

Backlog is okey, as long you are working (building) on it 😊

Currently none, but that's because I used to just snap build the older kits I have, currently breaking down all my old ones so I can cut off nubs and panel line everything

I definitely do, I currently have all the Gundam Wing mobile suits, all MG that I need to build, it’s been stressing me out that I end up buying HG’s instead and build those

Honestly, the reason why I have a backlog is I find it for a good price and don't have the time to build it. I normally build hgs but I got a MG buster and 3 more hgs for backlogs

just seeing how big the box of your first backlog got me 😂 i think having backlog is all groovy cuz u guna always have it there to do when u want. Just having the box in pristine condition is good enuff for me 🙌

I have a few in the backlog waiting for my painting confidence to improve, but i tend to build them as i get them when possible

Are you doing airbrushing or hand brushing? Airbrushing is pretty easy once you remember to properly thin your paints. I just got into it a few months ago, using Vallejo acrylics and it isn't too hard.
I could never get a satisfying finish with normal hand brushing. But I did get good results with dry brushing. Looks especially good with weapons and inner frames if you want that old and weathered look.

I think backlogs are expected when you get into the hobby. I have some kits i picked up because i didn’t wanna pay scalper prices and some I’m too nervous/don’t have time to start

i stared building 4 months ago and i have 46 kits built with 78 in my backlog. been grinding through building em to shrink the stacks but the sales are just too many and too good for me to say no, hell just got the pg exia for 30% off and pg's don't go 30% off often at all let alone exia. my backlog just bugs me physically, all jammed up in my room as my closet is too full of other junk which if it wasn't i'd just throw em in there and wouldn't be bothered about it. if most of my collection wasn't bought on discount i could see a desire to downsize but gunpla is too predicated on fomo for both deals and supply which is annoying but it is what it is.

Nothing wrong with having a backlog, I have probably about 6 waiting to be built

The rg wing Gundam is awesome it was my favorite rg until I got the crossbone Gundam, as for backlogs the most I have had is 6 kits but I worked through it, I really don't think backlogs are bad though because it's always good to have something to look forward to
