@JokerInk-CustomBuilds Röhm built cheap "saturday night special" pistols built in the southern part of west germany for export to the united states. Their revolvers are exceptionally dangerous and the source of their bad reputation. These derringers have a slightly better reputation, but are still considering to be made of substandard metals. I've shot ~20 target rounds through mine with no issues but don't have a great desire to run a ton of rounds through it. They still lack any proof marks from any of the German inspection houses, so they weren't inspected before being sold or imported. Probably fine for a "that's my purse" pocket pistol but I wouldn't put my life on it. They were 15-30 dollars at the time. You might get ~100 on gunbroker if it's in really good shape.
A metal magnetised dish would be helpful for all the small parts. Also if you drop a small part on the floor, you can pass the metal dish around in passes and usually find it with the magnet. I have found some really small invisible springs using that method...
RG ,Raven , Jennings, Jimenez , Hi Point , I almost didn’t put the last one. The definition of Saturday Night Special High Points actually have customer service. Goood luck to find. Anyone who ever service back in the day if You brought in a RG. They would kick You out for bringing in on of those.
Great video, my friend just recently acquired this little guy after his Dad passed away. He was asking me some questions about it so i sent him this video. God i love RUclips.
I've long wanted to see the internals of a Derringer like that, but I don't own one. I was curious how the mechanism works in transferring the firing pin to the next round, but i was hesitant to open my friend's gun. because it was functioning well. I was afraid that there might be tiny parts that can fly off & get lost in the process. Now I know... Thanks for posting this video. Well done!
I have a very similar one. Came with 2 other barrels. The " Striker" doesn't seem to be hitting hard enough to set off the Rim fire. Do you think the Striker is worn, or get a stronger spring. I took it all apart, my Striker is slightly different, but looks fine
I would use a newspaper on the work surface to catch all the dirt falling off the gun during disassembly. An absolute must is using multiple pans to group the screws and pins and other component parts. Never leave them lying about, this is very messy.
I have one just like it and have the same grips so I don't think they are repros. I am 69 years old and my father gave me this about 10 years ago, no idea when he obtained it but I always remember him having it. He was a deputy corner and carried that with him for protection when going on calls. As I got older I thought: Why a .22?
I inherited this same pistol the grips are wooden on mine but I have a issue the barrel has quite a bit of play in it i don’t believe it’s supposed too but I’m not sure so far I haven’t found any bushings that would help to stuffing it up a little bit the barrel wobble throws off the shot dramatically what would you suggest to possibly alleviate my issue?
Do you still have the derringer. My father in law inherited one as well and it is missing the grips. Do you know the measurements or what other grips may fit?
@@masonlanham1218 I have these grips, but actually don't like them. Look on Ebay. Just Type .22 Derringer Pearl Grips, or just Derringer .22 , it will show different Derringer but most are only selling the grips, since you can not sell a Firearm on Ebay.
Yours was made in the 1950s..because safety was on the newer ones that are made in the 70s..they cost 40$ (70 DM)back then..and where available in 22lr and 38 special..from Röhm and Norris..your grips are made of perlmutt..shells..they expensive now..not available anymore..🫡
That is mother of pearl from the sound. The real thing.
yeah, I think you are right. It ain't a cheap old gun.... it is old and could be expensive...

Very interesting video. I would have loved to see your process for cleaning such a gunked up antique gun.
Excellent, loved watching you disassemble your derringer. I learned quite a bit. Thanks
Love to see the cleaned up reassembled gun.

I have a RG 38 Derringer, I get in the 1960s, still works great. Good Video.
You're very lucky sir. My 3 Cobra 38 derringers make good paper weights.
Looks and sounds like real mother of pearl.
One of the easiest guns to disassemble on World of Guns - Gun Disassembly.
Very cool game/encyclopedia on Steam.
Mother of pearl the grips look like

I had a chrome 22lr same one with pearl grips. Miss that little thing.
This with a specially made suppressor would be so cool.
You actually helped me with my Excam T38, although it is some different than RG 15. Tank you sir.

How many screws did your workbench made of wool swallow over the years?
Excellent!

Thank you for that. So clearly explained. Next video can you please disassemble American politics for me. We're all puzzled.

I'm 14 years old and I have one
Happy for you kid. I have 2 Davis 22 derringers but when I was your age, I only had a Daisy BB air rifle, not a real 22 lr.
Why do derringer barrels tip up instead of down?
Hi.
I need help, and bought one rg17 rohm derrginer grenaille 9/380mm and only one shot works. thank you!
Do you know where I can get the parts for that gun?
I need help putting together the Pin that opens the barrel upwords

hows it look after being cleaned up?
Is this frame made from "zamak" ?
Good video. Have one also, was my father's. Only shot several times.

Did you find an answer?
can you please make a video of each part such as a print and the like and the exact dimensions
Awesome
How much is that still worth?
Any idea on how to date the serial #?
Where can I get quality grips at?
I'm guessing you can't get grips for it ? The OMP is plastic and cracked asking for a friend. It's not cheap it's inexpensive
I have the same one but only one barrel will fire any ideas on how I can fix that?
The cam inside is not rotating
I just took it apart it seems to be work just not striking hard enough on the second one
Got it working good now thanks for the feed back
Any ideas on where I can get grips like that

Why do you have to take it apart? All you need to clean is the bore.
Why not?
I have the RG 17 38 special version!!! 🍻
I would love to know where you can get a set a grips done
I also have a .38 Special version.
You do not want to dry fire any 22 cal rim fire pistol. You can cause undo damage and wear on the firearm. Kevin Phoenix
Never ever dry fire a rimfire.
Zofia and Ela main ;)
