    the outcome is worth the time. I'm sure I'll make more of these soon.

      If you have your PAL, then you can legally make homemade longgun firearms for personal use only, and things like minimum legal barrel length must be followed...a good, simple and fairly easy example is a homemade shotgun, which requires a minimum barrel length of 18 inches to be legal for PAL holders.
      Unfortunately, lovely little derringer pistols like the ones in the Professor Parabellum book series are forbidden for creative Canadians to build ☹️

Id be happy to be able to introduce you to the excitement and fulfilling satisfaction of owning and using your first firearm. That’s a cool build! I have one of those Model Ds that I plan to put together after I finish up a scratch build 32ACP. The side plate designs are very similar; the hammer spring arrangement is the major difference.
    I don’t worry about the specific gun drills either. I usually drill the run a remedy through to get a final hole size before pressing in the rifling button.

    • @jimafcarbon4433
      @jimafcarbon4433  5 месяцев назад +1

      Post a video of that build. Well, both of them! The only reason I try different drills is the hope to one day, repeatedly, get the exit hole on center. It's usually close, but these are short barrels. Something like an over under with the barrels made from one solid piece would be a fun build. But if the two bores are aligned it would be a bit disappointing.

    ❤wow that is so cool ,,thanks for pointing me to your channel ,,
    Q: where d you buy the buttons and reamers and is there two reamers used ??
    22lr is 5 mm rite but would you drill it 5mm and use a 5mm button or is the button slightly bigger like 5.2 or 5.1 mm ? ?
    thanks in advance.

    • @jimafcarbon4433
      @jimafcarbon4433  5 месяцев назад +1

      The buttons are caliber specific. Commonly available on ebay (and other such sources) from China and Ukraine mostly. The bore needs to be drilled them reamed to the specific size per caliber, so .2160 for 22lr for example. And yes, a separate, firearm specific chamber ream cust the shape of the cartridge for the chamber including the throat. Again, vere cartridge specific. There is some overlap, like a 357mag chamber ream would also allow you to fire 38spl. Or in my case, the 32h&r allows 32s&w short, 32s&w long, 32h&r and unofficially 32acp.

      Realistically they take too long to make on a small scale, they're a poor over all quality and design and just they're more fun to make.

  • @warrior-0f-light
    @warrior-0f-light 5 месяцев назад +2

    Good job. Threading the barrel after the chamber is not entirely clear. Usually a chamber is already made in the cut blank. Such a form is turned in turning centers. And when the button comes out of the blank, it spoils the exit hole a little, and it needs to be shortened by 1/2 inch or more.

    • @jimafcarbon4433
      @jimafcarbon4433  5 месяцев назад +1

      I probably should have turned this between centers. But I knew the total runout wouldn't be enough to matter in such a crude gun. I did leave the sleeve long while rifling. It was trimmed about 3/4 of an inch after all else was complete.

    • @warrior-0f-light
      @warrior-0f-light 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@jimafcarbon4433Did you use a reamer after drilling?

    • @jimafcarbon4433
      @jimafcarbon4433  5 месяцев назад +2

      @warrior-0f-light yes I did. The last drill was a 19/64 (.2968) then I reamed with a .306 chucking reamer. Because that's what I had. For cast lead, I would have liked a little deeper lands, but I knew I'd be shooting 32acp and let's face it, this gun will never be precision. It's a novelty. I actually have a .312 liner I planned to use to salvage this if I couldn't get acceptable DIY rifling. While liners can be found fairly inexpensively, I enjoy the challenge of DIY rifling. So far I've had decent luck in shorter barrels.

    • @warrior-0f-light
      @warrior-0f-light 5 месяцев назад +2

      I have a hard time counting in inches. Judging by the documentation, the maximum bullet diameter is 7.85mm. The diameter of the trunk along the fields is 7.65. But to hell with C.I.P. If you shoot with lead, then I would choose a diameter of 7.2mm, if FMJ, then 7.4-7.5mm. If I counted correctly for a 32ACP. I don’t have such cartridges) I hope my calculation logic is clear? The margins should be 0.5mm embedded into the bullet. I don't like lead, FMJ is better.

    • @jimafcarbon4433
      @jimafcarbon4433  5 месяцев назад +1

      @warrior-0f-light I know just what you mean. Metric would be easier if I grew up using it. But with machining, I can visualize .003 or .050 inches. .01mm, no idea ! I can quickly look it up and forget it even faster. From what info I've gathered, the bores range from .308 to .316. With 90% being .312-.314. Which is exactly what the cast vs jacked diameters are supposed to be. For my purposes, if they don't key hole and I can hit a target at 3 meters I'm happy.
