Growing up with a salvage yard, as a family business and being into medieval siege weapons. As a pre-teen/young teenager. I took it upon myself to design and build a very capable and formidable balista. It was made from a 1 ton truck spring leaf, a piece of railroad rail, 1/4" wire rope, a few other pieces and used a cut down and sharpened to a wicked point. Axle out of a Dana rear axle. As a bolt. My grandfather, cut it up with a torch while, I was at school. Told me, not to think of making another one. When, I got home. Lol....
Lol, the stuff we did as kids. Some never did anything. They are appalled at even the idea that somebody can just make a "weapon". Meanwhile kids on the streets have Chinese glock switches.

We used to cut tree branches with a good curve and flex, and widdle them down, knotch out the ends, then string it with industrial rubber bands linked together. Next we'd gather quail and other bird feathers, bamboo reeds, and fashion some pretty beautiful arrows. Final step was wedgeing small screws and/or nails in the tip of the bamboo reed.
I kid you not, we used to shoot cyotes, ducks, snakes, birds, squirls, and all type of shit around the hills of our homes. This was in SoCal.
As kids, we joked that if someone ever tried to kidnap us, we'd get to see how well our arrows worked on humans.

Nicely engineered. One small change would remove the drop-n-fire aspect.
Right now the trigger is brought all the way back and turned 90 degrees and move sideways about 3/16ths". If you extended that to 3x width of screw and had another detent, also 90 degrees, it would sit in that detent.
To fire you'd pull the screw BACK a bit, then DOWN, then release to fire. Not hard to do one handed, and it eliminates this thing going off if dropped or if the finger slips off the screw when moving it down.
Keep making things!

The best device for making one of those (a "stinger") is one of those small, pen-like, flair guns. I knew a gunsmith who made one, that way, for .32 S&W Long.
Oh I like me some home made 32 s&w !
Great way to piss off someone. I have a .32 S&W brass sitting right in front of me. You're talking about 70 ft-lbs (for the 'long', ROTFL) and there are medium bore repeating airguns these days which are about 3x as powerful. regular .32 S&W can be put to shame by an inexpensive .22 PCP airgun or the slowest of modern .22LR rounds.
I saw an episode of Cops back in the early '90s where a guy had been shot with a .25 auto and I've bled more from a paper cut. That's the kind of stopping power you're talking about.
Gadgets like these are mostly a placebo for people like OP who think this is actually going to be a self defense tool. I'd rather carry an 1851 Colt with a 3" barrel. Would be more useful.
@@Lurch-Bot The published energy for the ,32 S&W Long is 124 ft*lbs, but that's from a "test gun," so who knows what it would be out of a puny stinger barrel. But the usual way of employing a stinger is to shove it up against a vital area. In that case, almost anything will do the job. Incidentally, in the old days, many small police departments issued .32s to their officers, instead of .38s, because the ammo was cheaper. It's certainly no real stopper, but I'd rather have one instead of a .22 LR or .25 ACP. I think the .22 WRM is better than any of those.
How did you attach the firing pin to the bolt?
I honestly don't remember, but I'd guess I silver soldered it. Brazing would work well too.

Thsnks. I prefer the streets elbows, most are "smoother profiled" than this one. I've had a new to be buffer sitting around not being used for 2 years. I finally got it mounted where I could use it. This is their first thing I polished with it. I do have some stainless parts which may or may be assembled into something similar. I am hoping that will polish nicely too.
Very nice build man. In Canada that were allowed smooth bores provided the person had the restricted license they could build one of these and make a smooth bore. Although that makes it less accurate too. Unless you're talking rat shot then it's a little bit more accurate. So actually a legal Canadian version of this could have a rifled barrel and then easily swap it out to a smoothbore barrel depending if you're firing rat shot or not.

@staceepayne8787 DIY firearms are just that, do it YOURSELF. In the US, to make firearms for others, a firearms manufacturing license is required.
By the time he assembles his pipe gun, he's already bleeding out on the floor. I can't even imagine what it is like to be this completely clueless to engineering principles or tactical realities. Not to mention, a brass gun isn't strong enough for any modern cartridge and that includes most .22lr. All about chamber pressure.
I love how you say make something cooler than this. That is cool cause after you’re done shooting you’re taking it apart then you know you can put some cigarette tobacco on the other end and you have a little pi. Of course you already know that we used to make them and shoot eighth grade, it’s that other piece. I guess you have to machine that yourself the piece and then the part that goes in the barrel to make it rifled. I’m not sure how you acquire that.

You really wouldn't want to smoke out of something that has a bunch of lead and gunpowder residue in it. smoking is harmful enough as it is. But because the general consensus is that this looks like a pipe, OP actually DID make an AOW. ATF could use this comment section at OP's trial to secure a conviction. Smoking pipe gun, pen gun, cane gun, all legally considered an AOW, regardless of whether the barrel is rifled. This is what happens when you can do a bit of machining and think that you must automatically know how the law works. People literally have to go to school for 3 years to learn how to interpret the law correctly.
I don't even understand why you'd make this a cartridge gun. You get one shot and you won't get a chance to reload and take another. If it were BP, there would be zero legal issues. It is obviously too large a bore to be .22 and anything bigger, with a smokeless powder load, doesn't belong in a brass gun. In fact, if it were .22, you would want to use the weakest target load on the market. modern .22LR can give up to 200ft-lbs energy which is the same as a .38 Spl. And it will have to produce higher pressures in the process.
All I want to know is where you get the barrel insert from the rest is easy

OP really messed up. You can't make a cartridge gun in the US that looks like a smoking pipe unless you pay a tax and register it as an AOW. It is obvious most people think it looks like a pipe. I've been into shooting sports for most of my life and even I wouldn't immediately think this was a gun. No rifling does not classify it as a shotgun. Smooth bore pistols such as the Tower Flintlock have been in existence long before the ATF decided they can make up rules as they feel.
Smooth bore rifles were also a thing for over 100 years before the ATF were around. Often called muskets the reality is most didn't have rifling in the beginning.
Muzzle loaders and black powder are not firearms. A smoothbore firearm is by definition a shotgun. Whether it be a shotgun, short barreled shotgun or AOW depends on its other characteristics. All together different than primitive weapons and muzzle loaders.
@@jimafcarbon4433 I suggest you look up the definition of firearm in the dictionary rather than rely on warped ATF descriptions.

If you can't look at it and see what it is.. it's brass pipe and fittings. Obviously it's a 22 gauge bullet. Look how much brass is on each side(how thick the walls are) measure a 22 bullet guesstimate judging by its size . I would say take the width of three 22 bullets and that would be the thickness I f the fittings. A 22 is roughly 5.6 -5.7mm. Multply by 3. Look at the video , try and reference his hand size by something on the desk.
Too many people don't realize youtube is extremely anti-gun. They do not allow how-to videos for firearms related content. People are used to being able to find a how-to video detailing step by step processes for building or fixing everything. These videos do exist for guns, just not on youtube. Rumble (jfgmfg) just might have a complete build video.
A 22 gauge bullet would be around 0.6 inches diameter. You mean .22 caliber, which would be around 230 gauge. The bigger the gauge number, the smaller the bullet and it isn't a linear scale either. You can say 0.22 caliber, 0.22 bore but not 0.22 gauge.

My understanding is that rim fired guns are exempt from the shotgun rules. Also, SBR rules wouldn’t apply since it’s not designed, nor can it be, shot from the shoulder.
Smooth bore would still place under NFA regulation.
The ATF says that in order for a pistol to be legal
and unregulated(meaning that it won't need to
be registered & taxed as an 'any other weapon
under the NFA rules), the pistol must have these
3 characteristics:
1. A grip extending at a downward angle from
the bore.
2. The barrel must be rifled 'sufficiently to impart
a spin on the projectile.
3. The weapon must be designed, built and
intended to be fired with one hand.
@jimafcarbon4433 so, I'm guessing all the rim fire smooth bore .22 long guns we shot in boy scouts were illegal. 😂
They're fine as long as they have an 18" barrel. that's the regs for a shotgun. they still make some today, called garden guns for ratshot shells.
Caliber is irrelevant. If the barrel is under 18.5" or the gun is less than 26" overall length, is smoothbore and fires a cartridge, it is an AOW.
If you make a gun and feature it on YT, the majority are saying 'looks like a pipe' and takes a cartridge, it is an AOW. The ATF will not even have to work hard to prove that most people wouldn't recognize it as a gun because it is all right here in the comments. Doesn't matter if it is rifled or not.
@@jimafcarbon4433 You really need to understand that, while you can read the law, you clearly have zero concept of how it is actually interpreted in practice. Also, you haven't read nearly enough or you wouldn't have posted this unregistered AOW on YT. It isn't even a matter of ATF rulings. It is all right there in black and white in the CFR.

@@jimafcarbon4433 you should build a Luty sub… please!
I have the manual to build it, if you want a copy.
That's cute but I prefer to carry my Glock 19 or HK or sometimes my Sig, you just get more bang for the buck, of course I have a carry permit, glad you asked.
I bounce between a G19 (or clone) and a sig p365. But in the free part of the world, while it remains so, we have the luxury of making homemade improvised weapons as novelties rather than necessities. Proving training for the worst can still be fun !
I legitimately thought from the thumbnail that it was some kind of smoking apparatus.
Some would say, dual purpose.
I would rather smoke weed out of those parts, but it is a really smart design.
Make it multi purpose
These are terrible really. But everyone's first build. We should move on to better projects quickly.
ruclips.net/user/shortstfABwm7EyIo?feature=share
That’s the problem everyone is dumbed down from their 420. The upside is it’s natural selection.
@TheLoveBoat069 I don't smoke, never did more than a few times, haven't in 25 years. But I still think it probably isn't any worse than alcohol. But I also think felons who served their time should get their 2a rights back. Don't put me in charge of making laws...
@@jimafcarbon4433 I’m 100% with you on the second amendment restoration thing. The thing with the weed is you give them an inch and they want a mile. They don’t think they should be charged with DUI they think they should be able to drive blitzed. They say it doesn’t impair you. They want to smoke in public and on the job now. Kids are all over RUclips smoking their brains away. It’s never ending..
How did you make the bolt?
It's just the non-threaded part of a long 3/8" bolt with the threads and bolt head cut off.
RUclips doesn't allow how-to videos for anything firearms related.
But there just might be a complete build on Rumble (jfgmfg) of this one
Where can i buy the rifled part?
@rice0001 I buy Redman rifled liners from brownells. They make great barrels for all DIY stuff, even 3d printed designs. Chaszel makes good liners too.
I literally just got off federal probation for having a glock switch. Why does the devil always beat the angel on the other shoulder?!? Oh well- new sub here!
Exactly. People are worried about a single shot 22 when most kids on the street have full auto stolen glocks.
@kingfuqurmahmen6792 all depends on the situation. With training, full auto can be very effective. Shoot 1k or more a few times a year and you'll be surprised how well you can do with it. But most in the military are not sufficiently trained. Many froze up and emptied magazines with full auto not hitting anything and not prepared to reload. Rather than training (which is not easy) they just made the 3 round burst. Which mostly failed. Most today went back to full auto but train to use semi. Poor compromise, but when they're training masses, they have to train to the lowest common denominator.
But for civilians, train, train and train some more. Unless you don't have a life otherwise, you will not train too much. Be humble. I know I don't have the best equipment and I'm not trained as I'd like to be. But I also have a career, family, hobbies and responsibilities. So keep it all in perspective.
Most street kids withbswitches are just intimidating with noise and not hitting anything.
@kingfuqurmahmen6792 I chose to order the switch & didn't have any plans with it whatsoever. Someone just told me about it (they got one without any trouble at all) I actually ordered 2. I recieved one but never got the 2nd one. That's when I found out it was a no-no. But when the 2020 riots & shit went down I told my lawyer, "this is why I ordered it- for times like this.. people are rioting & looting with the police not able to do much at all. What if a mob came to my house with my wife & children here? I think that would be quite effective".. I'm just glad the judge saw that I wasn't up to no good & gave me only probation. (He was appointed by Reagan!!) Not to mention I used to be up to no good & already had 4 felonies under my belt so I wasn't supposed to have any type of firearms. I got lucky.
drill a through hole between bolt and breech block for a cotter pin with key ring on it , it will serve as a safety during loading and carrying.
stay safe and carry on.
While I won't argue, "it could be made safer" I suggest moving on to more respectable builds.
ruclips.net/user/shortstfABwm7EyIo?feature=share
How do you set the headspace on something like this?
@kirkbolas4985 the barrel threads into the breech face. When it's hand tight, it's good enough.
What size tap did you use to make the 1/8” brass fit into the 1/4” brass?
It's just an 1/8npt tap. The barrel is a piece of 1/8" pipe (nipple) with one end cut off and a rifled liner inserted.

@@jimafcarbon4433 thanks for the help brother! Going to try to make one of these this weekend. Fun little craft!
@andygould2575 my only goal in posting this stuff is to inspire others to take on a build of their own. Even if you don't post a video, share it with your friends and kids. Get everyone making stuff. Hopefully guns, but eh, whatever. Just make something cool.
hi bro. Would you have a project in PDF, on a 1:1 scale (A4 paper or other), of a caplock muzzleloader with fuses?
No, but these are terrible, really. But tend to be everyone's first build. We should move on to better projects quickly.
ruclips.net/user/shortstfABwm7EyIo?feature=share
@@jimafcarbon4433 yes friend. The fact is that I like these types of weapons. I've already built a professor parabellum derringer. Now I would like to build a muzzleloader from scratch. nostalgia for childhood.
Is this Ted Cruz?
You mean Lil Teddy Cruz's dad, Rafael?
When the law fails your rights, you do as the word VIGILENCE means, you take the law into your own hands but dont break it, except. have any wepon you want by law because there is not difference in what a set of arms means in the only laws of America. Build and use whatever you want and dint give up your rights to hired tyrants , they are to be rem I ved by law.
We have the luxury of making improvised weapons as novelties for fun. Because the necessities are already well covered. But there may come a day. The countries with the worst restrictions on firearms are the ones who make the best improvised weapons!
How do you rifle a barrel?
You can do it with a rifling button, (bought or DIY) and a hydraulic press. But this one is just a liner pressed in. I buy Redman liners from Brownells. They are great quality and affordable too. The work very well in 3dp builds as well! Chaszel makes good liners too
This is neat it strongly in courage me to make a better one cuz your idea is so pure and simple and easy to work with or in other words a great starting point 😊
These are terrible really. But everyone's first build. We should move on to better projects quickly. The Professor Parabellum PSMSA series is great start.

Shake n Bake 🤘
These have a strange appeal !
How far does it shoot.
No different than something like this
ruclips.net/user/shortsHdQnnefLldc?feature=share
40gr projectile at about 750fps. So several hundred yards.
Cool where can i buy the pre fab pieces for this keychain?
See if you can still buy a pen type flare launcher, that looks the same, you just need to make a barrel, but a used flare will fire a .22, after punching out the blank.
$15 at your local plumbing supplier and an hour in the garage you can have one too.
It's just proof of how cheap and easy it is to make a functional gun. Even if there were no gun parts available.
I got an old .22 pellet gun barrel that might work?
Yup ! For sure !
Is a .22 caliber pellet gun barrel liner the same as a ..22 lr
He's the man with the golden gun
007
This would make an awesome 17 hmr but I am not sure if it would handle the pressure
22mag or 17hmr would be pushing the limits. I'd want a few more threads engaged. Probably be fine. 😶
I cant find the bolt or riffled extension
The bolt is just a piece of a 3/8 bolt with a drill bit shank for a firing pin. And cross drilled for the screw used to cock it.
Where did you get that redman liner?
I get them from Brownells. Chaszel makes good liners too. They're all good for DIY projects. Even 3dp builds !
@@jimafcarbon4433 thanks for the info!
My grandpap had a 22 pen gun back in the 70’s basically same thing without the handle
Some of those old pen guns are pretty collectible.
What caliber fits in that thing? 22?
50 BMG
Yeah 22. Could do 25 acp easy enough. 12ga is by far the easiest really.
must be a 22 firing pin is set to rim fire not center fire like for 9mm .
How do you tap the inside of the 1/4 inch nipple and get the threads long enough for the breach plug and 1/8 inch nipple . Also without marring the 1/4 inch nipple
This one I threaded 1/2-28 to make all that easier. One of the other ones, I ground down a 1/8-27 NIP tap
Sorry to keep asking but are you using a mill lathe , etc. just curious I will be housing s drill and tap . I’ve tried a couple pieces so far and can’t get the threads deep enough and also have marred up the outside trying to hold it to tap it
You could simply use an electric or cordless drill and tap. Also, use shop rags/towels to grip out in the vice. Also, read other comments, your answers are there, I assure you! Cheers! :)
@@mrstogie912 nobody reads the comments. I've been asked and answered the same 5 questions 1000 times.
