I’m stationed at the city where the movie was filmed. John Boyega (escaped storm trooper who became a main character from new Star Wars trilogy) was originally cast. I couldn’t see him casted in this role I walked on the set unknowingly. Got some food from the food truck and tried to pay. Dude was like, “the food is free on set.” That’s when I saw some of the actors in 2021 when they first started filming the movie. It’s right next to Fort Johnson (aka POLK).
Got a chance to see this movie. Pre screening . I was able to actually give insite when they asked from a personal stand point . When your military we tend to scrutinize alittle deeper than what’s seen on surface including jargon used and execution of tactics . Semper fi!
This was a good movie. I was actually surprised I liked it. I usually pick apart “military” movies and my wife hates watching them with me because of it. It appears they didn’t try to go overboard with the story and tactics Don’t know how you came up on my algorithm but I will subscribe and check you out. MSG U.S. Army Retired.
I made sure to watch this movie before watching your video. And really enjoyed it, especially when he was explaining the pace acronym. I was planning to watch this movie for a bit and this made me get to it a little earlier. As always a fun and interesting watch. Looking FWD to the next one
Also thought this was a pretty dope movie tactically, following with no headlights and taped break lights. Overall pretty smart decision including not killing anyone, it'd be pretty hard to plead his case with a trail of bodies.
I have tried watching this movie twice and have not been able to do so. Civil Asset Forfeiture is so prevalent, especially in smaller police departments where it seems to be used to supplement their budgets. It is not used as it should, and has become legal theft. I was pulled over for speeding 6 years ago in Long Beach, CA, (NOT a small city) and literally, the police officer ask me how much cash I had on me. When I asked "why", he said he was trying to figure out if I was doing something illegal. NO CRIME HAS TO BE COMMITTED for them to seize your stuff! By the way, I did not get a ticket, so . . . The police can claim they suspected you were going to use and asset to commit a crime, or that it is the result of a crime, and take it from you . . . it is not only cash; they can take your jewelry, cars, boats, houses and anything else they want . . . good luck getting it back!
Maybe this movie will help get this issue on the radar of people who who haven't already heard about it. It's amazing it's still being abused despite the fact it's been so widely reported on and at least some states and other smaller jurisdictions have made efforts to combat it. This seems like one of those things that should be above partisan politics that can get people across the board to unite on.
It took me three times to make it all the way through. Just boring, leaning toward too stupid to keep my interest. The end was ok, but not worth the price of lifetime spent watching.

** As a former Marine, who DIDNT deploy, amd who was a former Martial Arts instructor, I appreciated the concept. I do have to say...there was some goody parts to the movie. Specifically towards the end. Its "funny" how it became about the "bunny" at the end. 😮💨🥴 But that's just my nit pick. Also, my pet peeve with the Corp is that we love to say is that "every marine is a rifleman". And that just aint true. It could be. My suggestion is that to have a MCTAP program. (Marine Corp Tactical Assessment Program) where you earn your marksman, sharpshooter, expert, badges. And there could be ither badges created for that too. It would involve EVERY marine MOS doing tactical drills and scenarios in their sectors. Motor T, Cooks, Admin Supply, and so on. You would do "room" clearing, basic TCCC, co worker rescue........ And these would count towards your rank. I think the Corpb would benefit so much from this and honestly it might shore up retention. Kets get back to what our tradition was and not just be anither statement that doesn't hold any water. 10/3/2024 update. Looks like what I was talking about somewhat is coming into play. Not exactly but this is an improvement to start with. taskandpurpose.com/news/marine-corps-overhaul-marksmanship-training/

I’ve watched this movie multiple times already. This guy is a badass. This movie sort of reminded me of Rambo. Aaron Pierre was fantastic in this film. Everyone was fantastic in this film. He has also been cast as Green Lantern John Stewart(another Marine ironically although he didn’t start out that way).
I think Tyler Grey said it best on one of your shows about how Hollywood has to make things "realistic" for the audience in the theatre, as opposed to reality based realism. Interesting side bar - when I was posted in Calgary, they were filming the battle scenes from "Legends of the Fall" out in the foothills outside of town. The local reserve infantry unit had put together a rifle section of dudes that were literally. using the tactics out of the Canadian Army Infantry manual for the period...the director saw them putting in attacks and said "That looks completely unrealistic and nobody will believe it, so we're going with it my way 9or words to that effect)"...despite it being as realistic as it gets because that's literally what they actually did. Don't get me going about Owen Williams running through a minefield of PROM1's daisy chained together in "Behind Enemy Lines"...can't/won't watch that film to this day out of spite because of seeing the results of what those fucking things do to people and at what range they're capable of doing it on my first overseas deployment. BTW, bought "Better Off Broken", thoroughly enjoyed it 👍👍. SK
I thought it’s a pretty good flick. I thought the last scene was far too Hollywood. Group of cops using live rounds and he’s throwing rifles at them… just silly.
The new Anti-Gun propaganda is strong with Hollywood They’ll have these protagonists using everything under the sun except a firearm They want Americans dumb & defenseless & sadly, know that they can aid the programming through entertainment I understand he’s fighting police so, it can be argued here for plot purposes but it’s blatant everywhere
Frankly I like it more that way. It felt more grounded somehow. Like "Why am I rooting for the guy that kills people like fudder until he gets to the main boss?" The fact he uses stealth and low visibility to end a fight was scratching at just the right place. I love it when they use strategy. Like I legit groan at guns in fantasy because they take out most of the fun. I am sure you can have good strategy with a gun. But the Gore usually blinds me to it. Like for example suppressors in movie. They don't shoot that silently? The only time I actually thought a gun scene was cool. Was because of short animation on the premise that the sniper was the only one left. And even then I was more impressed by the fluidity.
Way better movie than I thought it would be. It was cool how the emphasis was made that he never deployed, but it was funny that the character was on the Marine Corps website when research was done on the character.
Retired Marine here. I loved this movie. I like the fact that the main character was more brains than brawn and went out of his way to avoid killing people. By the way, although it’s been a minute since I retired, you could be kicked out of the Marine Corps for multiple rifle range failures. We don’t have non-combatants.
I kind of like this movie, I deployed 6 times, but have absolutely NO H2H skills, I am lucky if I can fight my way out of a paper bag, so I was like, could that all that H2H tactics be done for real ?? All those shots in the truck and the window is still intact, man those F350's are awesome :). Thanks for the GREAT Reviews!!! P/O
For most of us, MCMAP is just something to do for promotions. There's some that take it seriously. It works pretty well if you train the sparring part, too. Otherwise you might as well be one of those 12 y/o black belts cause you'd fair about as well in an actual fight.
@@sgtslaughter54I left the Corps as a green belt and my instructors were legit. MCMAP doesn’t really get serious as a martial art until you hit the higher levels - brown and black belt. It’s a legit combat martial art.
We had a TINY Fella about 5'7" 145... SFC Spreen Sandhill, Ft. Benning. Before he was our instructor he was one of the top guys for the Marine hand-to-hand... One day during training 2 soldiers both above 6ft both above 230lbs get serious and start really going at it. They other 2 instructors moved to intervene and he just waved them off and yelled "BREAK IT UP" Then he said "ONE MORE TIME... BREAK IT UP!" Then like some mongoose slid in between and hit both with elbows in the chest to seperate them, then immediately hit the smaller large fella with an uki goshi, and the larger a seoi nage. ALL 30-35 of us audibly gapsed, it sounded like. That moment showed Me how proper skill and techniques can level a lot of planning fields.
Happen to see this last week and was thinking, how would this go over in a breakdown ..... what a surprise 😄 The pace scene was one of my favorites. Also because of the use of Jiu-Jitsu moves in it. And just the realistic idea behind reacting to what the two dudes were trying to do.
My gf looked at me and informed me i was teary eyed after watching half this movie. Very impactful and identifiable. An Ultimate and refreshing depiction of a true Sigma vs. Alpha/ Beta. Huah!

Also marines qualify at 500yds as standard. So getting expert in the marine corp isnt always a guarantee, but getting 2nd 3rd or 4th qualification for expert says you understand the fundamentals to make windcalls at distance efficiently.
I was pleasantly surprised while viewing it! the main character was a believable person for once. John Wick was so anime it wasn't believable. Small towns? hate them! they are always trying to make budget which causes them to use unorthodox methods to procure funds. I avoid small towns and looked out for speed traps! I was a small arms Weapon Instructor (SAWI), Attended the course as a SSGT. The Corps is not going to invest much money and assets in someone on his first tour of duty cause if they decide to get out, they take all that training with them.....A waste of money! Most Marines would pick that detail up on a second tour! got to get your pound of beef outa them first! lol! Most "B" billeted schools came with a re-enlistment, or you volunteered upon extending your service. At lease that was during the time I was in.......
You should do a review of One Shot and One More Shot sometime. Very cool movies with good looking gun play. They star Scott Adkins who was in John Wick 4 and that Jamie Fox vampire movie. But I’d interested to see what you think of them!
As one of those infantry Marines that pulled a couple of deployments it was great having a movie with the main character wasn't SOF. Even if they had made him just your run of the mill Marines I think it would have been good. Hell most of those MCMAP instructors come from different backgrounds.

Very intelligent and deliberate action film that's an evolution path of the genre. I also really liked the intro scene when the main character was pulled over. The dialogue wasn't "movie"-ish and very realistic. The movie also doesn't try to go for obvious stereotypes. Refreshing watch

Gonna request The Kingdom again.. a lot of Hollywood flash, but it's a decent story, and some of the tactics (mostly on the initial attacks) are crazy.
Not all, but something like 60% shoot expert. Hell, I was a shooting coach shooting expert in both rifle and pistol as a LCpl. I woulda lost my mind if I shot sharpshooter.
Have a look for Strike Back, it’,s a UK series with a premise of MI6 and outcast SAS and CIA mixed teams. There were a few series some got a bit far fetched but the ops running and drills looked sick.
I think it was a well-made and quite enjoyable movie. I can second your comments about the inability of some police officers to hit a barn door at 5 yards. Those of us who are ex-services tended to be much more proficient than most non-services police officers. Most, not all. Some are keen and do go to the range in their own time to improve. But I worked with some officers who I would definitely want to be standing behind when they had to deploy their sidearms! I have seen comments in some quarters about Aikido not being a real martial art, which is nonsense. It most certainly is and officers in the Met Police (London) and Hong Kong Police, the two police forces I served in, were both instructed in Aikido. It's actually a highly suitable martial art for law enforcement, with it's ability to easily exert physical control over those resistant to arrest. Like any martial art, unless you practice to a high degree of proficiency, it's unlikely to be effective (rather like sufficient practice on the range with firearms!). But if you know what you're doing, it's highly effective.
Marine here MCMAP MARINE CORPS MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTOR.... best scene was when they printed off his DD-214 and saw MCMAP and the deputy was like maybe he's some type of navigator 🤣🤣
My department used the six shooter for smoke and CS gas. My department was also the largest in my state but we did not have the less than lethal weaponry that smaller departments had. And to that point there is a scene where Terry discovers that this small town department had an arsenal in the evidence locker
I remember a police involved shooting at a Starbucks in Portland. 4 cops shot at a suspect inside the Starbucks from outside. There was busted glass over the doorway and holes in the ceiling from maybe 8 yards.
Being experienced in Hapkido after living and working in S. Korea for many years and practicing in the States, I liked this film better Denzel's franchise. The discipline of this Marine's hand to hand combat instructor is the way of the Tao.
i’ve watched the movie twice and can honestly say i enjoyed it both times. it was refreshing take on an action movie. don’t get me wrong i like explosions and shoot outs and over the top fights scenes. but this movie was very entertaining and done well

It's better than someone pointing out that Marty was closer to the 1950's than we are to 1984 where he starts out. That might really upset you. Oh. Sorry.
(I'm just spreading my pain - a burden shared and all that - Crockett's Theme is still on my playlist though)
I think this movie has a good tactical adviser. The cops uniforms, the way they carry their equipment, the use of police codes, vehicle, tactic are on point 👍👍
Yeah the small details of this movie were great touches. The ending of the movie fell flat though
@@Th3W4tchman I think it's an open ending for a sequel
@willbaggiins9441 I agree too, I a bit mad why they ended it like that 😂😅
You don't seem to want to accept the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In Vietnam his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by attrition. Well Rambo was the best.
Winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, survivor of countless incursions behind enemy lines.
Jariko Denman was listed as the military advisor. From imdb:
"Jariko was born in Washington DC and as a military brat grew up all over the world. In 1997 he enlisted in the US Army. After basic training and Airborne School he completed the assessment and selection process for the 75th Ranger Regiment and was assigned to the 2nd Ranger Battalion at Ft Lewis Washington. Jariko went on to serve in the Ranger Regiment for 15 and a half years. Jariko deployed to combat 15 times in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2002-2012 as a Weapons Squad Leader, Rifle Platoon Sergeant, and Ranger Company First Sergeant amounting to 54 months of total combat experience as part of a Joint Special Operations Task Force. Jariko Retired from active duty in 2017 after four years as the Senior Military Science Instructor at St. John's University in New York City and now lives in Los Angeles. Since Retiring he has advised on several major motion pictures, national ad campaigns, and television series' as well as continuing to train and work within government and tactical industries."
As well as Rebel Ridge, he's listed as involved in Encounter, Project Power, The Outpost, Mile 22, and The Long Road home. I believe you guys have done a show on The Outpost? Apart from that one I've only seen Mile 22, which is pretty over the top, but hey it's Marky Mark.
The Outpost was fucking BRILLIANT. I'm not surprised that he was the advisor.
One of the best movies I have seen on Netflix where it wasn't so predictable.
Massive fan from Barcelona, Spain here! Keep up the great content guys
Appreciate it!
Smoke can be used for concealment and as a carrier for CS or OC. It multiplies the effect of the chemical agent. I was a Chemical Agent instructor for my agency.
this dude should be cast in a rated R Blade movie as blade
Dude I had the same exact thought.
He was cast in the new Blade (not as Blade) but do to the problems to get the movie going he pulled out of the movie.
He was cast he dropped out because of all the bullshit going on
@@officialnoquestion no he wasn't

I’m stationed at the city where the movie was filmed. John Boyega (escaped storm trooper who became a main character from new Star Wars trilogy) was originally cast. I couldn’t see him casted in this role
I walked on the set unknowingly.
Failure to adapt is what you were looking for for
I remember a couple of those people
@@jcartertv6686I had a couple in my formation. Fun times.
I liked this movie a lot. Aaron played the role perfectly. In control and calculating.
Just one more aspect of how profoundly corrupt our officials are in 2024. Dirty up and down the hierarchy.
@stephaniehawkins409 looks like shes gonna die of heart disease or diabetes shaving off years of her life eating slop but worrying about a 2 hour movie, i love Americans
Canada has "state media" called CBC. CBC warns Canadians that before travelling to America, police may rob you and it is what it is.
I really liked the movie. I recommended it to family and friends.
Also, thank you for your service ✌🏽❤️

Thank you for your service and as a martial arts practitioner I would like to train in as many styles I can get the opportunity to train in before I die one of them would be MCMAP (unfortunately chances are slim to none)
You HAVE TO BE A RILFEMAN TO GRADUATE!!! ...YOU POGS MIGHT STOP BEING A RIFLEMAN AFTER BOOTCAMP ...... BUT YOU HAD TO SHOOT 500 YARDS ACCURATELY.... 1ST...!
That’s basically what a super team challenges is about. They started doing those more often when I was getting out in 2016
@@tonystark3462brother being a rifleman once doesn’t mean you always are. Shooting is a diminishing skill. I have no doubt I could still shoot a 240 better than the avg gunner in the army after my first couple bursts, but I know damn well I wouldn’t be nearly as good as I was a few years ago when I last touched one.
As a former rifleman, I absolutely hated hearing "every marine is a rifleman." POGs sure would like to think so. There is so much more that goes into being infantry than just qualifying at 500 yards.
It was surprisingly good. I went in with zero expectations
LOVED your takes, guys! Keep them coming. And I absolutely LOVED Rebel Ridge. I’ve been referring to the film as ‘Black Batman.’
11:08 😂 when he said PACE I damn near had a heart attack
Perfect casting as John Stewart. Great military film too. 🪖👏🏻
I just watched this film yesterday after watching your review i actually rate it even more then i did before , never come across this channel before so ill keep watching your content great stuff lads
My homie is a green beret and I love hearing his take on movies , I’m on the phone with him right away all the time , my homie has ended so many lives it’s insane 😂
Please review Man On Fire!
That's a good movie!
Real
will do!
Which one there’s two of them
My pops(RIP) was retired army 22 years. That alone gets you guys a like. And of course great vid! Really enjoyed the movie honestly. Even if it was a little outlandish.
Im happy you did this movie.
When is Buck going to do a Shawn Ryan interview though?
I agree
Prior service myself, absolutely enjoyed this movie and your review.👋
Love that movie! My favorite line from the movie was when Terry said "Put in for infantry, but uh they found a user for me state-side "
SK
Excellent movie!
I thought it’s a pretty good flick. I thought the last scene was far too Hollywood. Group of cops using live rounds and he’s throwing rifles at them… just silly.
its a movie
The writers: “Ya, they’ll just say, ‘its a movie [sic]’. They’re stupid.”
The new Anti-Gun propaganda is strong with Hollywood
They’ll have these protagonists using everything under the sun except a firearm
They want Americans dumb & defenseless & sadly, know that they can aid the programming through entertainment
I understand he’s fighting police so, it can be argued here for plot purposes but it’s blatant everywhere
Its a movie
I love what you guys do❤
You guys are unique ❤❤❤ love those brake down
Way better movie than I thought it would be.
Marine Vet here. Just found your channel. Subscribed. Nice to meet ya fellas
After I got two minutes into the review I stopped and watched it and then came back to finish up. Great call, enjoyed it.
Not mentioned was the taped out tail lights, and how to kill moon reflection, throw dirt on car, even easier in the desert, good movie.
Love from Ireland 🇮🇪
This movie was dope. Gotta appreciate creativity
I was entertained, and that was the point of the movie to entertain the watchers
Happen to see this last week and was thinking, how would this go over in a breakdown ..... what a surprise 😄
The pace scene was one of my favorites.
Huah!
12:00 There are always more acronyms. So many, in fact, that eventually someone came up with Weird Acronym, Not Known.
I’m adding g to my review of the FNG review. Overall it was great. Buck, you always do call out some actual real stuff that people miss. It’s also funny and keep it up.
Great movie and I loved the review on the film, and the feedback on the fight sequences.👍
The movie was a movie. My comment is about the vibe i get from you guys and how you communicate the subject matter with each other and the audience. There is a lot of talking heads that post similar matter but you guys make it easy. Keep doing what doing. Much success.
Also marines qualify at 500yds as standard. So getting expert in the marine corp isnt always a guarantee, but getting 2nd 3rd or 4th qualification for expert says you understand the fundamentals to make windcalls at distance efficiently.
Yeah, I was in 4 years, 3x expert, 1x marksman.. but in my defense I had half a lung filled with fluid when I got the marksman :D
I was pleasantly surprised while viewing it! the main character was a believable person for once. John Wick was so anime it wasn't believable. Small towns? hate them! they are always trying to make budget which causes them to use unorthodox methods to procure funds. I avoid small towns and
looked out for speed traps!
This movie should have gotten A LOT more promotion 💯
You should do a review of One Shot and One More Shot sometime. Very cool movies with good looking gun play. They star Scott Adkins who was in John Wick 4 and that Jamie Fox vampire movie. But I’d interested to see what you think of them!
As one of those infantry Marines that pulled a couple of deployments it was great having a movie with the main character wasn't SOF. Even if they had made him just your run of the mill Marines I think it would have been good. Hell most of those MCMAP instructors come from different backgrounds.
I feel you re the BJJ injuries, some are life-altering, weights def r the answer, and tap early, Tap often, live to fight another day
I am just a blue belt, but I wish I had learned that while still on white, I used to hurt something pretty much every time I rolled. Your advice is very true, our pride heals way faster than our joints.
Love the reactions guys. Keep it up! If you get the chance, I would love to hear your thoughts on The Negotiator starring Sam L Jackson and Kevin Spacey.
It's called "Failure to adapt" but when i went through in 2018, my drill sgts shot targets for soldiers to pass the final weapons qual.
loved this review. great job
Saw the PACE clip and was wondering what this movie was. Looks really good will be watching this tonight. Also listening to him talk about Denver PD makes me glad I live in the Springs instead of Denver.
Very intelligent and deliberate action film that's an evolution path of the genre. I also really liked the intro scene when the main character was pulled over. The dialogue wasn't "movie"-ish and very realistic. The movie also doesn't try to go for obvious stereotypes. Refreshing watch
I appreciate your insight. I enjoyed the realistic pace and the acting was amazing. Don't get me wrong. I love John Wick, but this was clean! I'll check out the book. Thx
Can't wait for part two of "The Killer" movie! Loved the realism of the action scenes, shown in part one.
Just found your page today. I enjoy listening to podcasts while I work. I enjoy finding new and intresting things to listen to!
I love Jason Statham, and i agree the bee keeper was a hot steaming mess.
I still don't completely understand what or why!
I will take a peek at the book.
Gonna request The Kingdom again.. a lot of Hollywood flash, but it's a decent story, and some of the tactics (mostly on the initial attacks) are crazy.
Great statement on the police and firearms. I agree with you 100% as a Marine vet and Leo.
thanks for another movie to add to the list! ....Yo? When is the NEW SHOW coming out???
next month for sure, GAME CHANGER!
Love the channel. As far as qualifying at the range it's different in the Marines, everyone doesn't get expert.
Not all Marines get expert rifle qual. And failing to at least make marksman fails in basic and Marines cannot get promoted
Not all, but something like 60% shoot expert. Hell, I was a shooting coach shooting expert in both rifle and pistol as a LCpl. I woulda lost my mind if I shot sharpshooter.
Thank you for your service.❤❤❤❤ I married a marine we loved the movie too.
Have a look for Strike Back, it’,s a UK series with a premise of MI6 and outcast SAS and CIA mixed teams. There were a few series some got a bit far fetched but the ops running and drills looked sick.
Prior MCMAP instructor here. Can't say I didn't enjoy the movie. Semper Fi!!!
I feel like I was in the military in a past life. I swear I get so locked in on these movies.
This movie Rocks! and i only saw the last parts. Outstanding
In the Marine Corps you go to the Physical Conditioning Platoon(PCP), We also called it the Pork Chop Platoon.
Being experienced in Hapkido after living and working in S. Korea for many years and practicing in the States, I liked this film better Denzel's franchise. The discipline of this Marine's hand to hand combat instructor is the way of the Tao.
Keep grinding gents! I love the content. Ooh Rah
i’ve watched the movie twice and can honestly say i enjoyed it both times. it was refreshing take on an action movie. don’t get me wrong i like explosions and shoot outs and over the top fights scenes. but this movie was very entertaining and done well
