British airways really need to think about getting a complete makeover. We are shockingly behind most other major airlines.
Well, I have flown Business Class in a lot of different airlines, and I do like your national carrier a lot (except for the poor food).

I recently went on a school trip to Iceland. We had to get a coach down to Heathrow (from Manchester). We flew to Keflavik on a BA A320. The flight was great but, like you say, the food was poor. Although we did fly in Economy, I would have expected something better but obviously not first class standard.
like honestly, American airlin companies which are disgusting have better business and first class acomodations due to the new birds coming in! Also they know how to make steak right

On the contrary, I think BA's design could really work if they can make a way for the person in the window to avoid stepping over the person in the aisle. You could still keep the same layout, just give a little bit less room for those in the aisle so that those in the middle can squeeze through.
Depends. If you are travelling with a friend or partner it works really well I think. Facing each other works better than sitting next to each other. If you are travelling alone and have a stranger opposite then not ideal but that’s where the privacy divider comes into play.
I'm a pilot and loving this! I'm drooling over this aircraft! I've been to the Tokyo airport when I flew from Seattle a few years ago.

I flew BA to Bangkok earlier this year in Business Class.It was unbelievably awful. I could not believe that during the night, if you had middle seat, you had to climb over another flat bed and risk waking a sleeping passenger to access the aisle. It’s acceptable in economy or premium economy, but not in Business Class. The televisions are really small, not what you would expect in C class and, the food was the usual chicken beef or veggie. It might be the worlds favourite airline, but not mine.
I think the same. I had flown many others business classes and all them betters.
BA is a cheap and poor service airline, don’t expect anything :)

BA has great planes, great service and livery and beautiful lounges, however they need some brand new first class and business class hard ware.

I find it very sad when I read the comments posted, all people seem to do is complain. Both sets of my grandparents never even had a holiday let alone flew in a plane. I always fly business and have always been treated with total respect. I have nerve damage in my legs and feet due to chemo which I mention when checking in. I get a lot of cramp and need to move quickly. my last flight home from Johannesburg last month I was given an outside seat near the galley. It was absolutely fine and it is a great help to me to be able to put my legs up and lay flat so I can rest.
The lounge in Johannesburg was very nice, the food was good and I even had a shower which was great as we had been on the road since 6am.
I consider my self very lucky to be born when I was was and am able to travel to so many wonderful places in the world.
So look at the positive not the negative and remember you don't know what will happen tomorrow, life is very short.
Thank you for virture signalling. When a Business Class ticket for long haul can cost upwards of $15K one has a right to expect certain standards.

Iceland are an island nation and they are very proud of who they are. I think that we should take some inspiration from Norway. They've not been in the EU for ages and look how good they're doing. They're one of the most developed countries on Earth. We should keep England's Norse/Viking heritage in mind. We could learn a lot.....

I do love BA but on my recent Club World flight to and from Tokyo the food was shockingly poor and the service very rushed. Such a shame that they are cutting so many corners now in all their cabins.

Flight Paths change because of several factors, including Wind speed/direction, weather and overflight fees (the tax an airline pays to overfly a country that is neither the origin nor the destination of the flight)
Yes, and more than one track can result in the same equivalent still air distance. The flight times of the BA 777 and JAL 777 flights (on same day) are very close, while tracks somewhat different...at least on the couple of days I looked at.

Great video! I note that BA have just upgraded NRT-LHR (BA6) to 787-9s so I'd be curious to know if you'd consider swapping airports to NRT (an inconvenience if you've flown into HND) to get the newer aircraft? I was fortunate enough to get the 789 on its second day on the BA6 route and they're a beautiful aircraft. My nose gets quite dry when I fly and after 12hrs in the 789 I felt fine, unlike yesterday when after about 7hrs in a 772 my nose felt red raw!
To the best of my knowledge, British Airways now also operates a B787-9 on the LHR-HND route. And I completely agree, I feel less tired as well after traveling in the Dreamliner. It's a wonderful aircraft ...
Oh I didn't realise that. It makes sense to start phasing out the tired old 777s.

Do you (or FA) have to lower the divider every time you are getting drink/food?
And a passenger sits on the aisle seat always see FA serve window passenger over him?

I too enjoyed your report, although I don't like the layout of business class, ("Ying and Yang" effect). The person in the aisle seat is disadvantaged by the (raised) privacy screen if he/she wants to enjoy the outside view, while the person in the window seat is disadvantaged by having to clamber over someone's legs if wanting to gain entry to the aisle. I realise that all one has to do is ask. Which seat do you prefer in business (Club Class) ? Thanks for sharing, your trip reports are always very relaxing to view, as well as being informative.

i couldn't care less about the service, the menu, the entertainment system, the bar etc. all i care about is that beautiful leg room.
Tom Mulligan Same here. I wish they did something in between premium economy and business class. Never mind amenity kit, posh food and all that: just want to fly horizontally and arrive to my destination rested and not jet lagged.

Yeah, the city is just massive in scale
BA were the first (I think) with lie-flat beds in Business - but that was 20 years ago and they've never updated this product - and 8 across is really unacceptable
BA will introduce a new Business Class seat next year
Why is it unacceptable? You're taking up more than twice the space of an economy class seat but you're only paying twice the tax of an economy class seat. They should increase the tax if you want more space.

There is problem On almost all BA flights in BIZ class if you want a window seat you fly backwards. Very disconcerting. So choice is 1st Class $$$$$$$$$ or premium econ.
Otherwise, service and food on BA now is equal to the best. One way to avoid flying backwards but still in BIZ class LCY- JFK on their A318.

I've never flown on a seat facing backwards. Are you more likely to get airsick during takeoff/ascent? Doesn't inertia hit you harder during takeoff than landing?
It may look weird, but you hardly feel any difference with a forward facing seat
Then again, I noticed the "jumping over the legs" problem. For spending a lot of money, I'd expect a better cabin plan.

Thank you! Yes, that's correct. If you are seated in a backward facing seat (which I prefer, since they are located in their own cocoon), then you have to jump over another passenger's legs to reach the aisle. Not so comfortable ...
Don't forget that the tax part of your fair is being subsidised by economy pasengers. The tax is double but the seat takes up more than double the space of an economy seat.
They change their path slightly to avoid winds from altitudes or other planes (yes the wind from the other planes) aka: turbulence

Fantastic video as always! But oh what a horrible layout BA have...i just can't bring myself to fly with them when there are far superior and cheaper Business class options available
The Sakura Lounge which services all international flights is disappointing. Horrible food and beverages, but better than the regular corral area. But now I have an idea on whether to go business on my next trip to London.
