TRIP REPORT - PREMIUM ECONOMY REVIEW: BRITISH AIRWAYS vs JAPAN AIRLINES, LONDON TO TOKYO, JAPAN

- On a recent trip to Japan I flew from London to Tokyo with British Airways (on a Boeing 787) and flew back with Japan Airlines on a Boeing 777-300. Both flights were Premium Economy and so I thought it would be useful to do a video review comparing and contrasting the two different airlines. This trip report looks at the seats, the seat recline, legroom, windows, space, lighting, food and the goodie bags left out for us and what's in them. And then I deliver my verdict. Watch the video to think which one I thought had the slight edge. Both were good - and got me there safely - but one was definitely better!

good review , very informative
Thanks Jo. Great review. I flew back from Tokyo on BA in March with a 14hr 30 flight time and hardly any food. We got a meal after leaving Tokyo and then nothing (yep nothing) for the next 9hrs until a small snack was handed out before landing.
Keep the reports coming!
Glad it's not just me! I know, that 9 hour gap was ridiculous! And it's not as if the one meal they gave you 9 hours earlier was a BIG one...I'll keep the reports coming and let's hope BA add some extra snacks to their service in the meantime!
Wow, I am just looking to book for a solo trip to Japan in October this year and that sounds outrageous! Flown with Virgin Atlantic from London to NYC and also San Francisco and there were always plenty of snacks, food and drinks being handed out. 9 hours is shocking!
JAL... always
Nice video!
IMHO JAL's premium economy is the best also because of the sliding seat, the privacy divider at face height : those details really make the difference, especially when combined with the quality of food and service!
I COMPLETELY agree with you!! I was very impressed...and the food was SOOOO much nicer...and more plentiful...
Hey Jo! I have been watching this on IG. Awesome videos as always!!! Glad you Had a great flight!!! Stay safe and in touch my friend! Happy Traveling!!! XXX
Hey Joe - I'm always delighted when I land SAFELY and actually the food/legroom etc. are incidental, but it does matter if you're less scared of flying than I am. It is ridiculous that I travel for work and am scared of flying!!! My trips/videos are all going to be a little mixed up at the moment lol!! XXX
@@gowithjo1 That is funny, but you handle it well and always make AWESOME videos!!! XXX

Really useful. Looking for best use of my avios going to to Tokyo. Looks like JAL it is! I was also hungry on BA last time I flew long haul with them.
yep, you can't go wrong with JAL! Have a fabulous trip. Wish I was going back to Japan!!!
Hi Jo, really enjoyed your review, I’m hoping to travel solo with BA premium economy in December. Must say for me Japan airlines is far superior, the seat and the food. Love to see a good detailed review🙋🏻♀️
Why are you flying BA if you prefer Japan Airlines? Or are you not flying to Japan?!
Nice review Jo, I've flown both and much prefer JAL. You didn't mention you get business class lounge access with premium economy with JAL and also champagne is on the wine list.
I didn't KNOW about the business class lounge access - nobody TOLD ME!!! Thanks for letting me know...
@@gowithjo1Note you only get lounge access when booked directly on a JAL flight number. If you booked a BA codeshare through BA, then it's likely you didn't have lounge access (and probably why nobody told you).
Ahh that makes sense! I DID book with BA!! @@encryptededdy
That's kind of weird because if you book on AA with an award mile booking, you do get lounge access on premium economy. With Jal. @@encryptededdy
@@encryptededdy Ok I didn't realise that, thanks for pointing that out.
I hate those bucket seats like on the JAL flights. Puts u at a weird angle I find. BA have just reintroduced cup noodles as mid flight snack as well as ice cream, and array of Cadbury chocolates and biscuits. Need to do another review now ha
Good that BA have got cup noodles back!! I was hungry on my last BA flight -really not enough to eat!! And I'm only little and don't have a massive appetite. Yes, as you say, will have to plot another Japan trip. Could be a while!!!!
Always JAL! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
👍👍
omg- interesting channel. catch you later, )
Thank you! Your channel looks interesting too!
@jo Wow Wow Wow ur so gorgeous Mwah Mwah x x x. U luk so uncomfortable in that seat x x x x
BA is OK, but JAL is better.
I think I agree with you, especially when you're able to compare the two side by side like this!
Why the rubbish music? Apart from that good vid
Please don't ruin a good video with crap background music its so annoying why on earth would you do that
I would never ever fly BA long haul,JAL all the way....BA is just garbage these days.
