On the inside you will be greeted by an 8in infotainment system, spacious cabin and cloth seating. Joe and Lori do such an amazing job together. Joe's passion is contagious, and Lori keeps those camera angles to such delicate perfection.
Great review for quite possibly, my next vehicule purchase.
That is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said to us! We are so glad that you are part of the Raiti's Rides family!
Ain’t that the truth? The camera already know what presenter is already thinking…I love camera/video work!!
Maverick is much bigger and better fuel efficiency and better looking.
and cheaper.
@@kuyre2239 yes, that's why I'll wait for the final Raiti's review on the Maverick. I hope he gets to drive the FX4 one!
Delicate perfection 💀💀💀
"El Camino" 2.0 perfect analogy Super happy you reviewed this ride. Way to go Lori!!!
Thanks Matthew for being so supportive!
Reminds me of that and that car that is made in Australia.looks like a gto with a bed
“ 2 cans and a piece of string” 😂😂😂. Joe & Lori, you make my day every time I watch one of your review. Keep up the good work, you are the BEST !!!
This is the video I’ve been waiting for! Thanks Joe and Lori!
You are so very welcome Ramon!
The Santa is a converted SUV with a truck-like bed. It only holds 660lbs max. The Maverick was designed as a truck from the start, with the bed holding 1500lbs. It also costs $4000 less, gets 40 mpg, and has more tech.
Where are you getting your numbers from? Payload is 1906 lbs for Santa Cruz and 1512 lbs for Maverick. Towing is 3500 lbs for Santa Cruz and 2000 lbs for Maverick unless you want to shell out more for Ecoboost. Am I reading it wrong?
@@gunzforarmz Hyundai website before they stopped calling it a truck. Total payload is higher, but the bed can only hold 660lbs. The Ford can hold the max payload of 1500lbs in the bed. Ford advertises 37, 40lb bags will fit in the bed, or 18 sheets of plywood. Ford wanted the payload across all trim levels. Remember the Maverick starts out at a $4k discount to the Santa at each trim level and will get 40mpg.
@@billwhiteathome2080 that's MSRP though. Dealerships are putting 10k markups. Honestly, I wouldn't get either. I would just get a used full size truck for less.
@@gunzforarmz I know....Ford designed it for first time truck owners and those needing small urban vehicle that can also weekend haul.
This my first time seeing a review of the Santa Cruz. At first I was all maverick. Thought that this wouldn’t be much of anything. But I have totally changed my mind. I love especially the interior so much more. Pleasantly surprised.
I think you were the 1st non dealer person to do a base engine review. Very glad to see that finally.
You know me! I love bringing all of the trims and engines. Stay tuned for more!
Oh yeah! I have been waiting for the better part of a year for this review. I have allready reserved the limited trim level in silver. PLEASE REVIEW THAT ONE ALSO. So excited for this vehicle. Thx Raiti. You the man!
With his hand gestures while he's doing the walk around, reminds me of a weatherman describing an incoming storm
As someone who isn't into big vehicles, I'm loving the Santa Cruz in concept and exertion and am seriously considering getting one
Thank you for showing this trim with pricing. Most of the other reviews out there are always showing the rope level trim. Keep up the good work!
There is no better reviewer of vehicles on youtube than this channel right here. Joe keep killing these reviews!
Thanks for having my back and being the man!
Very interesting, Joe, how you mention the "El Camino." I had a a 2016 Colorado and that is exactly the vehicle to which I compared it. I couldn't forget my grandfather's 1965 sport truck model. In many ways it was the first "Crossover" truck that brought us to where we are today.
The Santa Cruz looks great! I remember seeing the pictures when I was selling Hyundai’s. Was happy to see the final product come to market. Just paid off our 2015 Elantra Limited. It has 60 K miles and has been perfect in operation since day one. Have only had regular maintenance issues. Battery replacement, tires, front break pads and wipers. What a great little car, however it has plenty’s of space in the front and back seat. I’m retired from the car business, sold high end luxury cars until 2010 then sold Hyundai until 2015. Pugi Hyundai in Downers Grove was and is a great store. They treated me and my customers like the luxury stores did. Great job Pugi. Thanks guys.
Whoever prepped this for the video nailed it…the paint was a mirror!
13:15 I'm glad to see you reviewing this lower trim infotainment. The higher trims have nothing but capacitive touch buttons and that's almost a deal breaker to me. I'd rather have the lower trim
This is exactly why I love bringing all of the trims to you!
i know right! i wish there was a way to get the upgrades minus the infotainment.
The Maverick is still cheaper. And there's no telling what Nissan is gonna do.. Hopefully truck prices drop next year. All these over priced vechiles is rediculous
to me that's not almost a deal breaker to me, but definitively a deal breaker :)
@@SpaceRanger187 hopefully the price of cars and Trucks comes down its ridiculous 🙄.
I've talked to a few non car friends that have been super interested in both the Maverick and Santa Cruz. There's definitely a solid market for a true small efficient utility vehicle. That 40mpg claim from Ford has perked a LOT of ears that don't need 4x4
I think you are definitely on to something!
I really hope other manufacturers jump on this bandwagon.
Ford maybe over promising and under delivering with the hybrid that everyone is interested in including myself. Ford is aiming for 40% hybrid, 60% EcoBoost production which means the dealers will mostly stock the turbos.
in my area. The few Mavericks that were arriving at dealerships were sold within 4 days. Due to the extreme demand for the Maverick. Ford to pause 2022 Maverick orders to meet soaring demand for $20K pickup. Ford Motor Co. will temporarily stop accepting all orders on its all-new 2022 Maverick compact pickup truck - both hybrid and gasoline versions - until summer. If you want a hybrid Maverick. I recommend going on line and order what you're looking for to get in Q for when manufacturing restarts.
This is a really great video on the Santa Cruz. Very informative and entertaining. I’m not kidding, you are far and away the best at reviewing this vehicle. A+ job.
That really means the world! Thank you for having my back!
Hyundai seems to be off to a good start with this one. It’s definitely more in line with the type of “truck” I would want. Not a fan piano black materials though. Fingerprint and dust magnets. Would be nice if they released a 5 foot bed option down the line.
I'm excited to see this one! can't wait for you to get a maverick on the road too!
Same here Logan!
I’m glad Hyundai didn’t make another suv and dip their toes into something new. Glad they decided to jump into the pickup truck segment. From first seeing it I like how unique looking from the outside. Looks futuristic like the Tucson and doesn’t look like anything out on the road today
I’m so curious to see how these will sell.
@@RaitisRides IF 6,000+ views in 2 hours is ANY indication, these will not collect a spec of dust on dealer lots! Great job as always J&L! BTC
I think Hyundai timed the Santa Cruz perfectly. Sad to say, but even the outdoor quarentine activities that people discovered and have made more routine in their lives during the Pandemic will play a part in their decision to purchase this vehicle. Hyundai marketing this as a Sports Activity Vehicle is nothing short of brilliant. As others have also said, the Santa Cruz could be the first open bed vehicle I have ever entertained the thought of purchasing. I am a huge fan, and I really think Hyundai Dealers are going to have a tremendous problem keeping these on the lots. Thank you Joe and Lori.

Thanks David for saying that and letting us share our car passion with you!
This is the first time I see this beauty.
I am so glad that I can bring it to you Omar.
Impressed with this and the new frontier as well. I’ll wait until they have the kinks worked out, but definitely bringing practicality with convenience! Great reviews as always Joe and Lori!
Hyundai are pretty good now.Not like they used to be In the early 2000s. Same with Kia they aren't POS vechiles..They give you a 100k warranty.Ford, chevy, dodge isn't doing that..Humm I wonder why
Its also based on the tuscon platform so shouldnt be too many kinks compared to a all new design
i vividly remembered back in the 90's the first car they've produced was the Hyundai accent msrp for $2,999. That was their focal point in car manufacturing
Awesome review! I am looking to get the SE trim with fwd because I really don't need all of that power and tech. Plus I want a volume and tuning (scroll) 😅. That too the 8 speed transmission seems like less of a headache vs the dual clutch in regards to long term maintenance.
Good review! It’s different in a good way, like see it in limited trim . Great second vehicle.
I love the way this little “truck” looks in black and with those black wheels
Can we just take the time to acknowledge the camera persons work? Flawless!!

Good to see a Raiti's review of a Santa Cruz SEL instead of the maxed out Limited model that everyone else is reviewing. I would definitely take the Santa Cruz over the Maverick.
Too weird for me….Best
I respect your decision. Not for me
Why?
@@billwhiteathome2080 I prefer the more powerful 2.5L turbo over the Maverick powertrain, the handy in bed compartment, and the 100K warranty that is standard on the Hyundai.
@@mowcowbell I'm guessing, down the road, we'll see that 2.3 twin scroll under a Mav hood. Caution with the 100k warranty hype. It's only for select powertrain components...you know, the things that never break anyway. Good luck.
Great review! Joe, I just became a new subscriber because of your detail and actually caring about putting an honest review out there and asking people to make up their own mind. I learned a couple things from this review that as a new Phantom Black Santa Cruz owner I did not know. Lori did some great video angles too. Cheers!
Keep up the great work y'all -- always glad to see a new Raiti's Ride video. Joe, my jaw literally dropped when you showed the lack of an armrest in the rear. Very cool vehicle nonetheless (although I did always think El Caminos were neat)!
*You can't deny Hyundai as competition no more. There SUVs and cars have been doing well been doing well, but the Santa Cruz in all black is drop dead gorgeous!*
Hyundai is always bringing great vehicles. Really liking this little truck!. Lori, thanks for all you do!
Lori really goes all out. I think the AWD would be perfect for you up in Canada.
nope
I would be very interested IF it were hybrid. Once you own hybrid or EV there’s no going back to MPGs in the 20’s !
Maverick is much bigger and better fuel efficiency and better looking.
and cheaper.
Adam... the Santa Cruz is just a Subaru Brat, lol. It's nothing new.
Have you been asleep for the past decade or so???
I just bought one and it is awesome ❤. Awesome power and style ,comfort and technology all in one.
Can't wait for the Maveric test ride. That will help me make my decision. Thanks for your videos very entertaining and informative.
This review helped me decide to get the sel trim with the added activity package and we aren't disappointed one bit. I do miss the days where you could take some money off of msrp but for 33k its still not a bad deal especially after a trade in and 1.9% apr
Thanks for letting me share it with you Dallas!
Raiti.. you just need to get a Louisville slugger and do a bat flip at the end.. Great video. Always bringing it first
Now we are talking Korey!
I just got the SEL and yes leather would be nice but other than that I prefer this trim. Nicer rims in my opinion, the real buttons on the screen. Still get all the safety features and heated seats. Its really the sweet spot.
This was a very good presentation with a good level of detail. Well narrated with good audio and video.
Can't wait to see the all wheel drive version of the maverick.
Thanks for a great review! I’m very interested in both the Santa Cruz and the Maverick knowing they’re so competitively priced and optioned. Almost think the Santa Cruz has a few additional options I prefer on this model over an XLT Maverick with the 2.0 eco and 4K tow package.
I got the first one for sale in Jacksonville. Mine is a SEL FWD Ice white with the Blacked Out Package. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!!! It’s awesome and so nice to drive, very comfortable & quite on the highway.
What a well-conceived mini truck. One of the things I loved about my wife's Ridgeline was that great trunk, great addition by Hyundai!
I bought this truck in SEL with all wheel drive Htrac in Black also and I gotta say it is so sweet, drives like a dream .thanks for the review
Nice to see a truck with daring style that's functional too. With the towing capacity that it has it doesn't really have to be a 2nd vehicle.
Torque: 250Nm
Fuel consumptions: 12.6l/100km in city, 9.09l/100km on highway
Weight: 1704kg
Maximum towing capacity: 1590kg
Thanks for bringing the awesome conversions

They added nobs for ac and volume! They actually listened. Very nice.
Santa Cruz for me. Drove this and it was so refined.
A little pricey considering the size and engine. I paid $30k for my 2020 Canyon (Elevation edition) and it has a V6 with 7k towing capacity. Before you said the price, I was assuming about $23k for that trim.

This is my favorite trim and truck/sport vehicle. The top trim is too expensive for my budget but I’d love the bed cover and below the bed lights as well as the turn signal blind spot camera on the dash/gauge.
Raiti’s the best reviewer !
I can’t do it without your support!

I think this is a great vehicle, however I’m sad to see the obvious downgrades like the steering wheel and lack of power/ac vents for the rear passengers. Maverick also has a slightly better price point.
Finally someone reviews the standard engine. Thanks.
Joe and Lori: Thanks for bringing this one! It would be nice to see the other trims…wish Hyundai would make the 2 door original concept version which was really stunning..it’s interesting how auto makers go from concept to reality!
Great review Joe & Lori! Really cool vehicle. Wish the colors were more vibrant with a red and a blue option. Also would buy it if came in a PHEV; any plans for one?

@@RaitisRides aight sweet! Do you have a TOP 10 of each category in the PHEV's? Would love to see which ones you love the most. Keep crushing it on RUclips!
Love the spec on this car
The SEL trims usually offer a package or two that might add the content that you zonked. It is new and maybe you'll have to wait a year or two for them to correct the zonks if they sell well enough. I like it. I had Ford Ranger, Chevy S10, GMC Sonoma and Dodge D50 (Mitsubishi) pickups when they were true compacts and I always bought the 4 cylinder, 5-speed manual, 2WD models. I didn't tow and I always got through the snow by putting concrete blocks between the wheel wells. They smoothed out the ride, too.
Thank you for the AWESOME video!! I have been looking into purchasing this vehicle as I love my elantra but I am looking at the truck aspect of this vehicle..Kudos!!!
Love this review! I can't wait until you review the higher level trim with the upgraded engine. I want to see that on throttle action!! :)
You got it Christine! I love bringing all of the trims.
i had that EXACT engine in the 2021 Kia Prestige Sorento and this truck & that vehicle weighed about the same so i can tell you, you DO get thrown back a bit against the seat when u punch it! BTC
This segment has a real good chance of exploding and I look forward to see if any other manufacturers jump in as well.
You are so very right! Nissan is rumored to be working on something!

I hope Ram brings the 1000 (2022 Fiat Toro) into the US
I just got this same trim and color 2days ago and love it so far
I voted with my money - just bought a Santa Cruz with Advantage Package Absolutely love it, so far above any car or truck at its price point with so many safety features. My insurace bill dropped $400 annually.
I had a Maverick on order but being down to a one car family(thanks hail storm) I am looking at moving to the Santa Cruz. I was really shocked how different it looked in person versus seeing on videos. Felt like the front end was a lot better in person, looks less sloped in person. They have it in the gray color here and I may have to pull the trigger. Drove great, love the bed set up and I will not be hauling trailers or anything like that. Just need it for the projects around the house and such. Joe, my 11 year old loves cars and loves watching all of your reviews, he will see me watching and ask how many Twinkies or candy bars can we fit? Keep up the great job!
That is so wonderful Matt!
It does look a little better but the maverick is cheaper
The Santa Cruz is just another Subaru Brat.... complete with the Brats useless bed. Basically the Santa Cruz is a car without a trunk lid.
Get the Maverick. You can pick and choose more options on all the levels then the Santa Cruz.
Maverick for me if it came down between the two mainly due to the price. It's a better value and has more useable bed space.
Clearly you are not going to be hauling ass with a maverick. It all depends on what people want from this niche
The maverick is not powerful enough. It is drastically underpowered to do any kind of towing. It's literally only useful for carrying a few hundred bulky pounds in the bed and that's it.
@@Hallowsaw people aren't buying these trucks to haul/tow tons of weight. They're fitting a market that is everyday drivers who occasionally buy a desk or mulch from Lowes.
@@Hallowsaw The Ford 2.0 turbo is plenty powerful. I just towed over 3,000 lbs with my Escape that has the same engine and transmission. Traffic still couldn't keep up with me while accelerating.
@@ItStartsWithYou2Day yeap that's me
The Maverick has an eCVT which actually functions off of normal gears like an automatic, yet has less moving parts. I thought it was a normal CVT at first, but learned otherwise which surprised me.
For me there is no comparison between the Santa Cruz and the Ford Maverick. I love this vehicle, it’s the only one I would even consider buying.
Great! Go and get one now
Totally agree. Santa Cruz doesn't look like a truck. That's why I bought it.
A lot of money for a little truck... Another gr8 review by Raiti and Lori.
Wait until you here what a limited costs!
I just got this and it’s Amazing
Congrats! Thanks for sharing that!
Ditto. I never got more compliments so quick on any vehicle I've owned...and that's a big number
The reason why her bed is so short is because the Santa Cruz has adapted the four-door crew cab configuration that has proven so popular with the buying public that prizes practicality over sportiness.
I owned one truck in my life.I really only used it once to move where it came in handy. But other then that it was not my cup of tea.I ebike now and own a Stinger and this is what i would consider in the next few years--I hear hyundai/KIA is thinking of making an N line on each of their vehicles. They give one of these AWD and a twin turbo 6 and i would get one in a heartbeat. The AWD 4 cylinder is stout for what it is--but owning the stinger has upped the ante on what i want in performance.
I ordered an awd 2.0 turbo maverick, but I do think this is cool. I choose the maverick because I thought it looked basic and kind of retro. Glad to see more options coming to market.
So does the rolling bed cover come as an option for all trims or does it only come with the top limited trim??
It is only on the Limited trim.
You can equip the 2.5L SEL with the "Activity Pkg." The Activity Pkg consists of most of the extra equipment that is standard on the SEL Premium model, with the exception of the 2.5T engine. This does include the factory integrated tonneau cover as well.
I believe the tonneau is also standard on the SEL Premium model.

Buy the SE or SEL. It has almost the same options but a lot less!
Thanks for the video!
Rati its an eCVT in the maverick not cvt there's a difference in case you didnt know, cvt is belt driven an eCVT is all gears no belt
Guy is spitting misinformation out of his a**...
Koreans are the only ones with guts to do something like this.
Well, the idea has been tried before and Ford is trying something like this now, right?
Subaru Baja was the OG, ahead of it's time and failed because of it. Ford is bringing one to market as well in the coming months. So not just Korea, but Japan and America as well lmao. Not to mention the slightly larger Honda Ridgeline or Chevy Avalanche. And then back in the 60s and 70s you had the Ranchero and El Camino as well, which were even smaller than this but essentially the same idea. So let's not pretend Hyundai has invented something all their own, however they have put their own spin on it.
All I can say , I’m super super happy with my Santa Cruz !!
Love the variety of vehicles you review.
Comfortably waiting for Joe’s review of the Limited edition

Wow Crown Hyundai actually seems to have some stock. A rarity these days.
Tell me about it! It’s crazy how low some dealers are.
Will Joe ever ANSWER the question he ASKS in the video TITLE? 😆
It’s called an essential question. I ask it, give you the info and you answer it as the viewer.
I think he likes the Hyundai better based on the ra ra in the video. But he ra ra's a lot. It's what he needs to do on a review channel.
But he still needs to "drive" the various Mavericks before he crowns, no?
Nice truck and great review as always Joe and Lori.
The Maverick doesn't have a 5 foot bed. It has 4.5 (54.4 inches) foot bed compared to 4.3 (52.1 inches) foot bed in the Santa Cruz although the upper part of the Santa Cruz is shortened a bit by the tonneau cover storage. The Maverick's bed is also a little more narrow (the Hyundai is about 2.6 inches wider in general) and both trucklets have protruding wheel wells in the bed...
Kia, Hyundai, Genesis have really stepped it up! The Maverick may have a longer bed but I can almost guarantee that the Hyundai has better materials fit and finish....
I believe the Maverick also has a 4.5 ' (54") bed. I think Joe misspoke.
It's growing on me
I saw one in real life. it is pretty sweet. I have a new Ranger It is paid for and I am going to keep it at least 7 years, but I am kind of wishing I had known this was coming.

Great review and thanks for showing the SEL trim. I think Maverick and Sante Cruz will each attract different buyers. I am in the market for both of them. I lean toward Maverick for the hybrid power train, but the Hyundai interior seems nicer. The test drive will make the difference.
