If NIO was an US company the market cap would have been at least 100 billion. Currently, the market cap is less than NIO's revenue and cash on hand combined. NIO is coming with such good news these past weeks (e.g. 150 kwh BATTERY, 2300 battery swaps, battery partnerships with car giants, safest cars on the market, NIO phone, NIO chip, ALPS model and many more things, which I cannot remember). Still wall street keeps the stock down significantly. One thing is for sure: they cannot keep this beast down forever.

What does '765 something peak charging current' mean? It means the peak charging current is 765 Amps - exactly what you would expect from the description.
The implication is that the ET9 can hit its peak 600kW charging rate even on run-of-the-mill 800V chargers, viz. not just on NIO's 925V chargers. As long as an 800V charger can issue the required 745A (or thereabouts) the ET9 wouldn't be at a disadvantage in respect to charging time, if it should be plugged in at such a charger. (Higher voltage and lower current will result in somewhat less heating of the battery cells, however.)

The contradiction is hilarious. But back to your review. You have not watched the presentation at all - obviously - since you did not know about any charger that can support this car. They just announced this charger at the same event, lol. Also, you are mixing the semi-solid state battery with the new 900 V battery. They are for different generations NIO cars. The 150KW battery is for generation 1 and 2 cars and the new high voltage platform is for the ET9 and future models down the road. The bias is evident but I wish you a merry Christmas and hope you will do better next year...

One can certainly argue that "fly-by-wire" has been around for quite a while and its reliability track record has been proven. One major difference between cars and airplanes is that cars must maintain their directional controllability after a minor collision. Airplanes are basically toast after any kind of collision.

Nio claims that its swappable packs are structural packs/components. Tesla's packs can be removed, too - that doesn't seem to stop them from being structural, does it? You have just assumed Nio's packs aren't structural and you are wrong.
A rapid detachment interface is a good idea (assuming it is robust) irrespective of whether you intend to battery swap or not. Furthermore, not everyone agrees with Tesla and Sandy Monro that bolting seats and other cabin fixtures directly to the battery pack is the right way to do things. That you can bolt seats to a pack doesn't make the pack structural. Structural packs are purpose built to that end and Nio's packs like Tesla's packs are structural.

    • @chris27gea58
      @chris27gea58 Год назад

@@NomadWalker-io3ne No, they are structural in the same sense. First, it is obvious that no EV can be used without its battery so you are taking yourself down a path involving some seriously dubious reasoning there.
And, you are looking at this wrongly. The structural features or the pack and the structural features of the chassis work together to produce a torsionally stiff vehicle - each piece plays its part.
Now, the heft of NIO vehicles (which should rightly be a concern for anyone weighing up a NIO purchase) is explained by chassis construction technique rather than the matters you addressed in your comment. We can be confident that some day soon, following in Tesla's footsteps, NIO will take advantage of major chassis forgings to simplify and speed up vehicle production. At that point, NIO vehicles will shave a lot of pounds without sacrificing torsional rigidity. NIO's structural packs will continue to play their part in the overall structural picture.

Nio has copied no one's battery. The batteries are all common technology but each large scale user has the choice to either use an existing dimensioned cell or might choose to have cell makers fabricate a size that suits the end user. Tesla likely did exactly the same... its just a package that suits the users parameters if they choose to design outside of some 'off the shelf' item. If Nio wants to operate in extreme cold then they might have included some form of warming element in an outer skin. Who knows, but for sure no self respecting auto maker is likely to copy Tesla.

Can Chinese & American EV car’s & Battery swapping stations succeed outside of the U.S. & Chinese market? without a universal sized E.V. battery like Ample’s for all EV. cars. Like in rural Australia? With brands such as Nio & Lucid

  • @captainjayc9217

They may add super fast charging stations right next to their battery swapping stations that may see less and less future use? May as well find some use of their existing facilities.

One of the cleanest, well designed EVs this side of Tesla. Fascia is crisp. No wasted moves or gingerbread. NICE.
I wish wheels would start having dimension and depth again. All the dead flat, machine face wheels out there are redundant snowflakes.
What is it with NIO anyway? They’ve been around and innovating since the beginning right? I’ve heard they were bankrupt or at least headed that way. Stocks are disappointing. They seem kosher. What’s up?
Overall these Chinese car companies have to perform super human to get respect/interest/loyalty in today’s car world. It may or may not be fair but it’s a climb. Japan did it in the ‘70s. It’s possible.
The quiet vibe over here is US factories aren’t building as high quality as China and Germany. Personally I haven’t compared anything to prove it, but I hate hearing it.🤬

The ET9 is a work of art. What do we have incredible mass market vehicle hitting the market in weeks, ET9 hitting the market in first quarter, first budget car with firefly mid 2025, likely additional new 3.0 Nio models as well. We then have Q2 earnings which will be a triple beat so go ahead and short it this company will absolutely 100% bridge to profitability on the present cash pile they won’t need to raise new funds and I will happily add as long as Nio is trading at an idiotic 7 billion market cap thanks shorts.

NIO will dominate Tesla in about 3 to 4 years maximum, if you understand the business model that William Li is putting in place. And all the other brands that already joined NIO for the BAAS (battery as a service), they've sold around 6,4M cars last year (2023), more than Tesla and BYD together.. So do you still have doubts that NIO will dominate Tesla in just 3 or 4 years from now...?? Time will show you all guys... 😉

Can you be a little more sombre while assessing this new vehicule. Sounds like you feel a lot of sour grapes. Bio has had challenges in the past but it is definitely on the road to recovery with its technological advances. Baas will ultimately be its ultimate showcase and advantage. Legacy cars are done.

The problem of nio is not the quality, but the management they must focus on the production of affordable cars , economy of scale like tesla and cut costs.if they want to survive, this car has no chance outside of china and there is now a big problem of decreasing demands of EV.
