China is the world leader in battery-electric cars. The Chinese are advancing battery research and development. America is still in the age of fossil fuels. Who killed the electric car thirty years ago?
Almost 40% increase jump from previous year is astonishing. What is not discussed or even more astonishing is the fact how they are able to keep up with production and to produce even more the next year 🤯
EV sales can easily double, triple or more within a year in this EV start trend era. People realize they are really getting EV almost free because of the fuel money they can save, besides the thought of supporting the green environment and less dependent on fossil fuel which has been causing wars between countries. China can easily and quickly produce EVs because raw materials to make them are dirt cheap, except the lithium. Making 10000 units of a car part is the same process as making 10 million units of the same thing, just adding more machines and workers. China has access to all raw materials, machines and human resources to make 500 million EVs per year. The reason you are shocked by China's efficiency and capability is because the car makers in the West are incompetent.
Unlike BYD, Chery is still producing a large number of ICE vehicles and selling them all over the world. Chery's sales in China are lower than BYD's, but Chery's sales outside China are higher than BYD's. In fact, Chery is also the automobile manufacturer with the largest export in China.
It is staggering how many different brands of EVs that the Chinese are making and then within each brand there are a huge array of different models to choose from. It is absolutely amazing how many different EV vehicles the Chinese are pumping out day after day after jolly day! And each year they are getting better and better. It is absolutely incredible what the Chinese are doing with their production of their outstanding EVs!!!
500 EV companies and most of them went bankrupt. Chery will be on that list eventually. BYD will be the last Chinese company standing in a few years. There won’t be any supply of parts for the rest. Just look at Fisker as an example, there is no software updates available and I don’t see aftermarket parts being available for them for long.
The US doesn't have an internet firewall, but Americans are some of the most ignorant people I have met in my life. The Chinese have an internet firewall, but most Chinese people are surprisingly well informed about what's going on in the West. It's not about having an internet fire wall or not, it's about having the motivation to seek knowledge and discover the unknown. The Chinese still have that desire to learn and explore, while the Americans have lost it long ago.
China has that energy and motivation from the struggle against absolute destitution (visited upon it, of course, by 19th century European barbarism). They've saved millions from absolute poverty. And that struggle is an education to thrive from humble beginnings. And that all bleeds into business ventures at all levels. However, the USA has long been satisfied by its position of World Leader and feel it's dominant position in any domain is entitled. And so, entitlement means lack of energy and motivation. That, too, bleeds into the establishment businesses. /my theory, for what it's worth

@@divinematrix0607 I'm not the expert but it seems like if a country buys our stuff they should be able to sell their stuff. If you don't like the balance we need to make more stuff they want. If it weren’t for 100% tariffs on Chinese cars here in North America the old manufacturers would be closed within months of the market opening up. The government imposing the tariffs are claiming to be doing it to protect jobs BUT we still see auto sales sliding because the costs of our cars are raising way out of proportion to inflation. Something has got to give….
Probably I am off "EV" topic but I recently bought the 1.6l turbo charged Jaecoo7 (Jaecoo being a subsidiary of Chery offering higher end models). Of course the car comes with all the newest innovative safety features and on top of it offers all the luxury one finds only in the higher ranking models of Mercedes and BMW. The car comes with a 10 year warranty and 5 years free service. Beat this. Value for money. I was driving BMW and VW before but now I will never look back. The Jaecoo7 is currently being sold in South Africa and NZ. In 2025 Australia plans to bring in 8 new Chinese Car brands including Jaecoo. Malaysia has already its own Jaecoo assembly plant.
The hottest EV, the real model Y competitor at a higher price range in china, is a JV between Huawei and Chery. It is the Luxeed R7. Check it out and it is selling like hot cakes and the chinese will pay the higher price if they see value in a car. It's reviews are phenomenal and it is enough for any brand to be sold under the HIMA ( huawei) brand as their tech is probably the best or just about. The important thing with huawei products is the eco system where devices seemingly integrate with the car and it's functions!
Yeah, you can't compete with companies who are prepared to accept huge losses on every car they sell. Either you play their race to bankruptcy or you don't. It's a case of last man standing. If you have deep enough pockets to see off all the competition before you go broke, then good for you. This is the Chinese business model they've used for decades. It's nothing new, except this time it's cars.
This year, Q3 Chery will release the first car model which support NIO's battery swapping and battery swapping stations. Until then we all are going to hold our breath as long before Sam is going to tell us about this.

there are various reports coming out of the LA fires that say that owners of EVs are unable to or are finding it very difficult to evacuate the city, with tens of thousands having no access to power for days now. im all for EVs and i strongly believe it is the future, however how do ensure that we are prepared? specifically during national emergencies, of which Aus has plenty of (bushfires, cyclones, floods etc). Power grids are usually the first to go during such emergencies. I think this is a discussion we need to have as a nation sooner rather than later.
They just need to drive 5km to out of the location, I don't think those EVs were out of power, also EV almost don't spend any power when they are stopping in the fraffice, so they are just can not get out in a traffic jam as normal.
Most of those videos are fake or spoof. I Know at present if sudden we had a power outage my car has at least 80% battery well over 100 miles. So I could easy get well out the area. Remember gas stations also don't function with no power. Also a lot of changing stations have massive battery/power bank back up systems in place that will still charge even when power goes down.
Seriously, listen to yourself. I have been driving an EV for 2 years. My EV does 430km on a full charge and that lasts us a week. We plug the car in when it gets down to 1/3 full, and a few hours later it is 100%. The only reason a person cannot evacuate in an emergency is road congestion, not due to driving an EV.
I kind of miss the old days when the chinese would build & sell replica Rolls Royce, mini & Range Rovers. The likes of Nissan, Porche, VW, MB and, BMW are dying by MBA.
