After criminally neglecting her for 12 years, they leave her all alone, completely paralyzed, to go on a weekend trip out of town. I'd say that qualifies as a "reckless disregard for human life"/second-degree murder. They deserve life in prison, which is karmically what they gave Lacey.
I believe what they gave to Lacey is far worse than a prison life sentence. They still can walk, eat freely, get medical care, have entertainment etc. in prison. Lacey couldn't even speak.

They didn’t bring her to a Doctor because “she didn’t want to go?!?!” If she truly had that diagnosis, how would she be able to protest care?! This is such a disgusting, horrific case of abuse. My heart aches for Lacey……💔
I think they didn't take her to a doctor because there is a _lot_ more to their story. A happy, socially-adjusted, extroverted girl suddenly has a drastic personality change in her early teens, then is pulled from school and never seen by her peers again? That sounds like a classic case of ''maltreatment'' (of the SA kind) from one or both parents, beginning in her early teens. They got worried she would talk, so pulled her from school, and locked her away. These cases have played out like this so many times (just usually without the severity of the demise) that I'm quite frankly shocked that anyone is believing what they say about her being ''severely disabled'' etc. We only have _their_ word for that, and why would believe people who would do something like this?? They didn't want her telling anyone what they were doing to her, which is why they didn't take her to a doctor. :/
@@B_Rainy makes me so angry and sad, she narrowly missed the window of “strange you don’t have some social media account or google result when google tells me you aren’t dead yet,” I hope her peers continue to come forward about their positive memories or actually any memories they have of Lacey. These parents deserve to be fully exposed, how horrific that the murder of their own daughter is a milder offense than what I think you’re correctly hypothesizing
The worst part of this is that the people that did this to her, were her own parents. The two people that were supposed to love and protect her. I can’t imagine the pain Lacey was put through. I hope she is resting peacefully.
I'm the lucky few childhood abused victims that survived parental abuse and neglect...but my body greatly suffered. And because I never got treat ment for my depression and anxiety and never had stable blood sugars and they never got shoe supports for my flat feet. I ended up developing alot health problems at 17 but they never got me help I needed cuz my step mom just believed I was lactose intolerant but I wasn't able to digest Ramen noodles or cereal and yogurt. And she never got me testing Done so now I have several chronic mental disorders I struggle every day with suicidal and homicidal thoughts I have gastroparisis, arthritis, rethumatoid arthritis I'm going blind In my left eye and my right eye is starting to get worse. I also have fibromyalgia and my mental health affect my physical health and illnesses alot so I can't even work cuz it fucks with my anxiety cuz of my ocd and germ problems and it will make my fibro and gastro start acting up and so normally I'm in constant pain and puking up my guts and puking up blood sometimes.
It really sucks the realization that your parents brain wash you into making you believe they know everything and are protecting you and that they know when your healthy and when your sick and only hit you because your doing something wrong that is bad behavior but they make it seem you'll become a drug abuser and whore for not getting them water or for not folding the clothes fast enough or because you didn't wanna do it at that moment

Just because you go to church doesn’t mean you’re a Christian. I absolutely agree that this case is unforgettable! I'm a true crime junkie and binge watch cases multiple times a week. I remember some cases and their broad outcomes but never remember and details or names. This case, on the other hand, details and Lacy's name have stuck with me. While every case is tragic, this case is an absolute gut punch! I cannot even begin to imagine the extreme horror that poor girl endured for so many years!! I can only hope and pray that her mental state was so diminished that she wasn't aware of the horrific abuse that was done to her. I have my doubts that her mentality was as bad as her parents say but that is my hope, however remote it may be...
@@elizabethd8147 Than you need to do more research on this case because her nail marks were all over the couch indicating that she had tried to leave the shit spot on the couch. The coroner has reported that Lacey did not have a locked-in syndrome and tried to leave that spot as well. She was very much conscious. And, we should not negate the brutality of this situation to ease our emotional sentimentalities because that lowers the significance of her tormentors actions who came up with the whole locked-in syndrome bullshit.
@valvihk3649 what are you talking about that I need to do more research on the case? The bulk of my comment was how horrific her life was. I made a comment saying that I have my doubts her mental state was as bad as her parents said it was. Obviously, I was right. So, you coming here 7 month after I made that comment and after more information has been released to the public, your comment telling me I need to research this case more because she wasn't as mentally impaired as her parents said is completely unnecessary as I, along with the whole world know all that now. You're not telling me a single thing that I don't already know. 7 months ago those facts were not available to the public and that's when I made the comment. Even then though, I still said I didn't think her parents were being honest about her mental state and I was right.
@@elizabethd8147 The bulk of your comment was how impactful this case was on you. You wrote "I have my doubts that her mentality was as bad as her parents say but that is my hope, however remote it may be" right after "I can only hope and pray that her mental state was so diminished that she wasn't aware of the horrific abuse that was done to her." My research went 5 months ago as soon as coroner came out with reports. But, I don't need him to tell me that even if she had a locked-in syndrome that girl was completely "conscious." I'm not specifically coming at you, my statement urges for research. I wrote to you but I hope many will read it and do more (including research on the claims that were made). Because people still claim that this is neglect as if it's 100% true, people are still keeping old videos that claim she has locked-in syndrome, and the majority eats it up. If a person is literally decomposing in front of you, suffering from acute mental illness, you don't simply say "well, she refused to go to the doctor". You get a commitment order. They were legally in charge of her life. They had the authority to do that. They chose not to. It disgusts me to hear them pretend to have been unable to help her. I think this was sinister and deliberate. I'm honestly surprised her parents called 911 when she passed. They had to know they would be held accountable. Again...sinister.
I have a feeling its because she was Autistic, people these days still look down upon autistic people and wouldn't surprise me if these shit stains that managed to call themselves parents in the first place disowned her or something like that because of her condition. But who am i to say? I wasn't there and I never been to Slaughter in my life to get a feel of the populace opinions there.
As a father of a child on the spectrum, I couldn't be the Judge for a case such as this. The sentence I'd deliver would be nothing short of the death penalty.
As an uncle who is on it and has a niece with it, I say I'm the same. These types of people should never have been able to become parents. There's a saying that fits perfectly here: All children deserve parents, but not all parents deserve children
This is mind blowing, how dare they use a person with special needs as an excuse for their own sick behavior, they are just trying to make excuses for themselves and show absolutely no remorse, I mean they were the ones who should have protected her, they are evil and If was the judge I'd do to them what they did to her, the only positive thing is that her suffering is over, fly high gorgeous girl
They didn't bring her to a doctor because... She didn't want to? Parents: Hey Lacey, I know you can't move or talk or anything, but do you want to see a doctor about your condition? Lacey: Parents: Welp, we tried. Nothing we can do now.

Her parents say she had “lock in disorder”. She never got diagnosed with anything because they never took her to a doctor! Pure evil!! I wonder if they received any benefits from the state for her too
I don't believe she had any disorder at all. She was happy and well-adjusted then went through a drastic personality change and was pulled from school soon after. We see that same pattern time and time again in cases where one or both parents have suddenly started 'maltreating' (SA) the child. They didn't want anyone to know so weren't going to take her to a doc, and are lying to this day by claiming she was 'severely disabled' etc. She may have _become_ disabled (ie unable to walk properly etc, and very mentally unwell) as a result of what they were doing to her. But it was entirely _their_ doing. It wasn't due to any 'condition' inherent within her as everyone seems to be believing.
My dad was in a rehab for breaking his hip we found out from him they would fuss at him for using the bathroom on himself because they had to clean it. From that day forward until he left that place me and my two sisters stayed every day all day and night with him until he came home to watch for abuse and neglect. People are cruel out there please please if you suspect anything happening to anyone around you like this, tell someone protect those who cannot protect themselves.
There is an epidemic of elderly neglect, especially within institutions. There is a lack of independent regulation, supervision and consultation. Abuse and neglect is extremely common, and it is an international issue. In New Zealand and Australia we have this same situation. It is particularly prevalent amongst the elderly that have dementia, or other issues that make it difficult to communicate. It is an issue, not properly being addressed anywhere, and the elderly population is increasing and the problem continues to escalate.

I hope they get treated like the criminals they are now...
You didn't mention the most disturbing part of this case: She got so desperate she started to eat the couch in her final days. That's not something a person with Locked In Syndrome does, proving she did not have it. It's an excuse.
The reports from the crime scene indicated that her own feces were shoved into her face and chest presumably by someone else, so it’s possible that’s why they were in her stomach. :\
I just want to say that it has been debunked that Lacey had locked-in syndrome and it was falsely reported by the Daily Mail--an unreputable tabloid--and other news outlets just ran with it. The coroner confirmed she did not have it and she sadly passed with faeces/couch stuffing in her stomach. If she had locked-in syndrome she would not have been able to open her mouth to eat. RIP Lacey, you did not deserve to be treated that way. Thank you both for covering her case w/ respect for the victim as always.
Hey there! Could you link us a source other than the New York Post that debunks the locked-in syndrome? We can't find any other source that debunks it, and we usually like to confirm at least three sources with information when possible. This is unfortunately the problem with covering recent cases, even official sources can get it wrong time and time again. Thank you so much for the kind words! ❤️
@@TheMiseryMachine The Daily Mail also clarified it in a follow-up on May 4, but it looks like they used the same quote as the NY Post article, so not much luck on that front. For what it's worth, her mother claimed Lacey ate half a sandwich and some Cheetos before her passing (which we know was untrue due to what I mentioned in the first comment) but even by her mother's own narrative she couldn't have had Locked-In Syndrome. He was not on the spectrum but he only had one foot so he he was either in his wheelchair or his hospital bed. I changed his diaper numerous times a day and checked his behind to make sure he wasn’t getting red or sores. I can’t even believe that these parents could stand the smell.

I took care of my grandmother for most of a decade after she broke her neck. She had to be changed every 2-4 hours and I had to roll her and position pillows to prevent pressure sores. Just because a person is labeled "pillar of the community" doesn't mean they're good people. I hope Lacey gets justice and those monsters get put away for life. No judge or jury could absolve them.
I have found, being born in the late 80s, that a lot of older generations' conceptions and standards for trusting and heaping praise on their neighbors comes from a somewhat naive faith in the goodness of people who conduct themselves a certain way. I suspect this has a lot to do with not having said perspective shaped by modern media and psychology, and its exposure of peoples' real lives. It's totally bizarre to me that some folks still accept others' gestures at face value. Literally anyone you meet could be involved in any number of questionable deeds or lines of thinking. You don't assume, but I personally like to keep that in the back of my head.
Eye for an eye. 12 years sitting in your own filth, unable to communicate, gradually dying in more and more pain, followed by the horror and indignity of melting into the couch owned by the people who's responsibility it was to raise her and help her thrive. Love him, love your neighbor and forgive one another. Theses people that did this to their daughter are evil and dark. You can find that anywhere. I hope our court system and God punish them severely they spend a whole life in prison without ever getting out. And I hope they suffer like she suffered. But never blame it on society or churches or anything like that. There was something definitely dark and sick inside those parents head👹👹
How can anyone neglect their own child like that? Lacey was at their mercy. I took care of my disabled mother that was on dialysis for 17 years, I couldn't do enough for her. It wasn't a bed of roses, and I got so tired because no one helped me. But all in all my mom was a sweetheart, the lifting is what really did me in regarding my back. She couldn't help because she lost the use of her legs. But you just don't leave a person sitting on a sofa like they did to this poor baby. RIP Lacey God bless you!
4:32, how were the parents able to stay in the house with the smell alone. I'm having a very hard time picturing how this all went down. Why did they call the police saying she couldn't breathe when she was clearly dead and decomposing?
It's the banality of evil, really. True evil is, sad to say, incredibly banal. We like to comfort ourselves by imagining some mustache twirling villain, swirling his cape, and grinning madly with frenzied eyes, or perhaps some meticulous beard stroking mastermind plotting sinister plots while chuckling to themselves about how great they are... When in truth, evil is... normal. That's an extremely harsh and unnerving reality people don't want to face because it calls into question a lot of reassuring things, comfortable masks, we wear to keep society pleasant. But if you realize that evil is banal, you realize that any otherwise pleasant person could be capable of the most horrific acts of cruely, which calls yourself into question as well of course, and then when those evil deeds are done the otherwise normal person doing them fails to even realize the evil. That people can do such horrific things and not recognize the horror of it is somehow a lot more scary than someone doing the horrible things and cackling while lightning strikes in the background about how horrible it is. We like to imagine people can simply recognize evil inherently, and realizing that oftentimes we can't is an existential horror difficult to put into words. it's one of the harshest lessons learned shortly after the Nazi regime collapsed.. and just as quickly forgotten by most.
@@kina18 usually when you call 911 saying the victim can't breathe they'll run you through chest compressions whilst they wait for paramedics. Were the parents ready to do chest compressions on a decomposing body? Never mind an ambulance was unnecessary. Ambulances don't carry dead decomposing bodies, the police and coroner office do. There's a chain of unnecessary events when you claim someone is simply not breathing when infact they're already decomposing. 😰
They deserve a stronger sentence, Lacey was there on that couch for over a decade. Her parents did not care, Lacey had a life, and she was so deserving of living. If her parents took the proper care, she would be thriving rightnow. This is heartbreaking
The man in the beginning that asked the dad if she had moved out, gone to college or married like the other kids before her, then knowing what happaned. It really knocks the reality of what could have been…
As your explaining her… autism, delayed growing, etc etc Reminds me of my daughter whom is also on the spectrum. She’s 20 & will be graduating this June from high school!!!!! AND I LEGIT COULDN’T BE MORE PROUD OF HER SHE HAS OVER COME SOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! Soooo much - love u JEWLEANNA Marie 💕
This has to be the worst case I’ve heard on in I don’t know how long I just can’t imagine what that poor woman went through Isn’t it always the “pillars of the community”? Maybe we should be keeping an eye on all of them
There was a case of a wee tiny 12 week old baby called Sterling Koehn , it was horrific his so called parents let the baby starve rot and die alone in pain in a swing chair facing a wall in a hot room . poor wee child died so bad . I hope there is a hell for monsters that do these evil things ,breaks your heart to hear the evil that happens .
“The coroner also denied a report that Lacey had suffered from a rare neurological disorder called locked-in syndrome. “I don’t know where that term came from or what source it came from. In all my years as a practicing physician I have never heard of that term.” This was posted on May 4, 2022 via the New York Post.
Lacey was one of my very best friends from the second to the fourth grade at Brownfields. And, yes, she was very sweet. I moved out of state after the 4th grade. I absolutely cannot believe this has happened. We're pictured right next to one another in our yearbook. I had to dig it out when first seeing the story because it was so very hard to believe this was the same Lacey. Absolutely devastating. Mrs. AND Mr. Fletcher..... nevermind, deleted the remainder of that comment. Much love, Lacey!!!! Fly high, baby girl!!! Forever missed and never forgotten ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
when you knew her as kids, was she “severely autistic” ? They claimed she had social anxiety and was severely autistic. If she was, she would have always been. It’s not something that gets more severe with time. So how did she go from functioning to helplessly stuck on a couch? This case is so sick and there’s so many unanswered questions
@@teeeff8337I mean, I'm not them, but as an Autistic guy myself...? She probably had some sort of medical episode, like a stroke or something, and THAT'S what had gotten her stuck on the couch.
@@onettaviator5396 Well, they said she had “locked in syndrome” but they doesn’t make sense either because they found couch cushion in her stomach, which means she was so hungry she was eating the couch. If she had locked in syndrome, the only thing she would be able to move is her eyes. They would have to have been giving her nutrients intravenously to keep her alive. They also claimed she was severely autistic and had social anxiety, so I was wondering if the person who knew her as kids noticed these things about her as they’re not really things that worsen with time so she would have always had them. At the same time of claiming she had autism, anxiety and locked in syndrome, the parents claimed she was of sound mind and chose to not leave the couch. Well which is it? I really hope this trial is allowed cameras and live streamed because I have so many unanswered questions and really want to see what the defense comes up with since it will have to make sense in a court of law and right now what the parents are saying, doesn’t make sense. And I’m curious to see doctors on the stand seeing if anyone actually had diagnosed her with autism, social anxiety and especially locked in syndrome
@@teeeff8337 Yeah, I know. Thats why I'm probably thinking it was a stroke or aneurysm or something like that. Something that would fuck with you cognitively but at least let you eat.
This is sooooo sad. My grandma died of a bone infection at the base of her spine which can happen sometimes with people who are bed ridden, but when she was experiencing that she was in hospice and on the maximum amount of morphine possible and she still was in excruciating pain. I can’t even imagine the suffering Lacey went through without any pain relief or medical attention. I pray that she will be comforted by Spirit 💜🙏😇May all love surround her
As an adult who learned that I am autistic only 2 years ago at age 41 when thanks to the crown court system I was not only diagnosed but even greater I was saved from my abusive parents who I had never realised were 'those' kind of people.... I want to say a truly heartfelt thank you for covering this case and the topic in general.
@@questioneverythingtv asking as well because I can't find anyone that feels its important to diagnose an adult, only children. As if adults with autism don't exist or need assistance functioning too.
It honestly makes me wonder if there was a _reason_ they kept her locked away and isolated, and I think people are reading way too much into the parent's explanations that she was 'severely disabled'. She was socially well-adjusted, then had a drastic personality change before being pulled out of school. We see that time and time again in cases where a child is being 'maltreated' (of the SA kind) at home. The parents were genuinely very scared of anyone finding out what they'd been doing to her, so locked her up and left her to rot (and the SA maltreatment probably continued for a long time). Now they are saying ''oh it's because of how disabled she was'' but we only have _their_ word for that, and why are any of us taking the word of people who would do something like this? They are still protecting their own skins, and know her body was too deteriorated for there to be any proof of the years of SA.
I AGREE WITH EVERY WORD YOU SAID 💯!!!! Lacey's existence was more horrific than what is being reported, at the hands of her OWN sperm donor & egg bearer!
I agree, what if she became paralised after being beaten in the head 😕😕 cause, okay, she had "mental problems" but she was social active, she would go to school and Interact, and right before having this lock in syndrome, her behavior changed. It doesn't seem coincidence for me.
Praying for y’all and your furbaby. I can’t imagine what you’re going through, still being in mourning. My cats are my kids and I would do anything too!❤️
Oh God, if the doctor was affected like this I can’t even begin to imagine what this poor girl went through. I’m so sorry that you went through this at the hands of your “parents” RIP beautiful girl….
Not just any doctor - a CORONER! That's the person who does autopsies on a drug addict smeared all over the road, corpses found after being in the hot sun for 2 weeks and eaten by cockroaches, people who are decapitated or riddled with bullets, and on and on. This was a few levels of "horrible" above and beyond any of that.
I have seen MANY DECOMPOSED BODIES in service with the CAF on 2 tours of duty. I CAN'T IMAGINE what this would have looked like. A human mummification! You guys out there haven't a clue..and never would want to. During the Gulf series, we had come across a young girl, (12 yrs old), who'd been raped and tortured for years by her husband, *56 years older than her. The body when examined was so expired, it took a very long time to find a possible cause of death. It was determined her body had been there on the dirt floor, sitting cross legged for 3 months in its current condition. The girl was literally a mummy, and when she was took out of the sandstone dwelling and moved...OMF! You really can't imagine. I dream about her still. Our medical staff/examiner at the time, was able to determine she was raped repeatedly until death for years, probably since her husband was able to start having intercourse with her around 4-5 years old, and had been starved, physically abused and neglected her entire life. The time of death was determined by the skins colouration, bands of black necrotic to the lightest skin colour tissues, *where the decomposition patterns started on her flesh from the ground up. (She was given to the husband for a wife from the cradle, and her family got a great sum of money for her). The body/pseudo skeleton, weighed only 39 lbs. Her hair was a snarl in one huge lump filled with head lice, and the 19'' headscarf trapped inside of the clot her hair was, wasn't even detectable until the hair was took off the corpse. Her ankles were BOUND with another scarf the same colour. She had so many fractures, our medics asked him "So what happened"? The husband said ,""with purpose"", he ""BROKE her calf bones, ankles, and toes"", then positioned her in a cross legged position, "so as the body healed, she'd never get up and walk again". He said "it was the best choice for a happy union, because she was DISOBEDIENT", and she was ''causing'' him ''health problems always running away". The country I was serving in, didn't allow for the arrest of the husband, as he *OWNED his wife, and could do ANYTHING he wanted to do to HIS PROPERTY. She was totally VULNERABLE to him, whatever care he gave or didn't. There were no criminal offences available to charge him with. Abusing your wife/wives was 100% legal, and socially acceptable. They DID have laws, where the WIFE could be stoned, or hung, IF the husband *THOUGHT she was cheating, stealing, swearing to God in his house, having evil *thoughts of sex with another man, or watching him have intercourse with another of his wives...THIS considered a *grave crime LITERALLY..UNLESS she was welcomed to watch. His wife IF ACCUSED of watching, had to be able to prove she had permission to do so, or it was a death by stoning. IF your husband was using another wife in YOUR BED, it is the husband's property to with as he liked. This man had another 3 wives. We had to get *PERMISSION from the husband to have the girls body as a gift in order to retrieve it. The husband also collected the sum of $136.65 as a DOWER to trade his wife for the money. In this country you have to pay for the right to a dead body, even if you're a relative. The girl's family would have had to pay to attend the funeral of their daughter. The husband told me, (and 9 other CAF soldiers), that he was going to CELEBRATE the life of his dead spouse by having a party for *HIMSELF, with his other 3 wives. He told us he was PROUD of the service she'd given HIM. The husband prepared A *GOAT FEAST, to honour his 12 year old dead abused wife. FURTHERMORE, he told us HE "WAS HAPPY" that his remaining wives "would not be *killed, because they had never ran away from me". I wanted to throw up and strangle him all at the same time. ALL life must be respected...and to the people commenting and taking JOY in the name of the town this sweet kid was tortured to death in...I SAY GO SERVE YOUR COUNTRY IN THE UKRAINE ATM..and you'll come home MATURED and CAPABLE of understanding WHY humans should be better to each other. *FOREVER. Good bless all the brave service men and women serving in the Ukraine and abroad. *A shout out to PPCLI...you big BULLIES!
I don't know how the parents could have not known their daughter needed medical care. I can't imagine her sitting on that sofa day after day watching her parents go about their life and being ignored to such an extreme. :(
Thank you for talking about the rates at which people with disabilities get abused. The numbers are astoundingly high and the abuse is often done by the people in charge of others wellbeing.
He's retired now, but our family doctor was named Dr. Slaughter. Still can't believe he decided to go to medical school and use his real name as a physician. 😅
The thing that makes this one of the most horrific cases that I’ve seen is that having locked in syndrome by itself would drive a person insane because you’re aware of everything that’s going on but you can’t move anything that is the ultimate torture. Now just imagine just being left on the couch in one spot with your legs underneath of you your legs cramping up you can’t do anything about it you’re itching you’re bleeding you’re hurting you can’t do anything about it and you’re like that for years. And to make matters worse being infested with bugs. That is the ultimate hell. I saw one other case where the girl was tortured beyond anything that anyone can imagine. I think this is probably the second worst case I’ve ever seen as far somebody being tortured. She may not have been beaten and had anything else done like that but the pure fact of melting into the couch being fully aware and not being able to do anything about it, it’s just the most horrible torture that I can think of. She probably stopped eating so that she could die. God bless and rest her soul
She didn't have locked in syndrome, Her parents lied. If she did, she would not have been able to smear herself with her own waste or eat the foam on the couch found in her stomach.
@@samisam3780 That's what I was thinking and just makes it so much worse. If she really couldn't move at all, there's only one other way those things could have gotten in her stomach, those people are absolutely vile and I hope they rot in prison for this.
I love that you’re bringing awareness to how important it is to pay attention and point out when neglect is suspected. Her parents should have reached out for help if they couldn’t take care of her. My heart goes out to Lacy, may she Rest In Peace.
She has such a beautiful smile. I wish I could have been her mama. As a person who’s going to go through a lot of struggling to become a mama it hurts on another level to see neglect and abuse from parents. I want a baby so bad and I can’t even imagine how happy me and my husbands life would be to wake up and see her gorgeous smile every morning, even if we would have to take care of her for her entire life.
This might be a bit of a strange comment, but I just wanted to say as an autistic person who was unwanted and abused as a kid, your comment made me feel really warm and happy inside! I truly hope you're able to get a child. Wish you were my mom growing up! ❤
@@mousefriend8635 me too! As a kid growing up with Asperger’s and Paranoid Schizophrenia it was hard for me since my parents do not believe in mental illness. I’m glad to know it made you happy
Have you two heard about the case of Eli Hart? He was a 6 year old boy found dead in the trunk of his mother's car recently. Poor Eli was just returned to his mother from CPS. This is so sad. I know it's hard to cover these cases bc of RUclips policies. Thank you for all you two do! 💕
I heard something about this. I think there needs to be laws that you can turn your child over, no matter the age, without repercussions. It's ok to leave babies in safe boxes at the fire station. It needs to be OK for any age child. If parents simply can't do it, they need to be able to turn their children over without worrying they'll be in trouble. I think, maybe some of these awful cases would not happen. Idk, it's just an idea. Something has got to change somehow.
Some people aren't meant to have children. As parents we're supposed to do anything to protect our kids. These people make me sick. There's way too many stories like this
@@DanielleFoster. yes I’ve been saying this for years!!!! I understand that parents are meant to be responsible for their children however sometimes a parent simply isn’t capable of taking care of their babies and I truly believe that those parents wish or at least think about surrendering those children if they were allowed too without repercussions… I feel like if it wasn’t such a taboo issue and if we changed the laws regarding it that it would absolutely make a difference I just don’t know if it would possibly backfire in any way tho ….
Locked in syndrome doesn’t just happen - it is usually due to a lesion around the vasculature around the brain stem - Alexander Dumas described it as “the corpse with living eyes”. I personally have seen such a patient - however, he was also unable to breathe on his own. I very much doubt that Lacey had this condition in its true form, and would conjecture that she had retreated into her own world as a way of tolerating the emotional abuse from her parents.
I used to take care of a young lady who had Locked in Syndrome as a result of an automobile accident. Sure she was in a nursing home but she had round the clock care. Whenever I worked in the section where her room was, I would start my shift by making sure that she was changed, clean and dry because I knew that it would be a while before I could get back in to tend to her. This story just sickens me to no end. How could anyone, let alone someone's parents allow another human being to just waste away and die like that??? They should get the maximum sentence allowed by law.
Well, the explanation of the locked-in syndrome is the only thing that made sense to me when I questioned how could she just lay there for 12 years!.. like why didn't she get up or why couldn't she get up??
@@heidijohannes4271 There are many forms of paralysis and many causes, Heidi. Most people don't think it was Locked In Syndrome because that would have been complete full body paralysis. I and many other people think that at least her legs were paralyzed, or else she might have had an injury that never healed right that kept her from walking/crawling away from the couch. I have no doubt there must have been some physical reason she couldn't get away, even if it wasn't Locked In, but her parents had so much sick control over her, I can't imagine they gave her many opportunities either. That is assuming they didn't inflict the injuries on her themselves to KEEP her from going anywhere...
@@heidijohannes4271 It doesn't even matter what she had, they made it worse. You still keep people clean & reposition then. And if you have a heart maybe some physical therapy. Sad thing is is she would have .been eligible for all this including a home health. There's just no excuse. Animals don't even treat there young like this! They make me sick &I hope they get the max.
I have screamed out and cried after hearing about this when it 1st came out actually. I want to thank you so much for doing this story on this precious woman. ❤️🔥🤝❤️🔥 Life in prison! Let them try and survive in there...it won't go well...I guarantee! Their quality of life will go DOWN
Her parents had the means to have Lacey taken care of by professionals. They chose not to. It appears they thought of her as an unwanted burden, and were biding their time until they would be free of her. I’m disappointed they are not eligible for the death penalty as Lacey was basically left in a torturous situation for twelve years, by her own parents! Barring that, life in prison with no possibility of parole will have to do.
They must have known she was in her last month's/weeks of life. I think they did not get rid of her because Lacey's condition had become so disgusting they could not bear to touch her. They must have known they would be prosecuted for this level of neglect...
I cannot express how much I don't understand how something like this could happen... Like seriously... This is the saddest thing to think about her situation. Yet her parents went on like nothing was going on, like no one existed.... Things don't just get how they did in a short period of time. That's long term neglect of basic needs and basic care... So sad..
That’s not my problem! That’s your problem, not mine! You had three meals delivered, sorry! So guess what I have no money, and I am broke! So you can threaten me all you want!
I can't even begin to imagine what was going through Lacy's mind every day she sat there aware of the fact the her parents did not love her. And didn't care to care for her. It makes me sad to know what she lived through. 😢😢💔
This sadly reminds me of the Debbie Leitch case where the mother left her daughter in bed knowing she had disabilities and couldn’t help herself. This world is horrible 🤦🏾♀️
I have autism and I'll be 33 years old tomorrow, I'm also getting married on my birthday. I was abused and neglected as a child. I was the 5th born with 4 older brothers with whom I do not share the same father because my mom was unfaithful to her husband, father of her 4 boys. I'm blessed to be alive. Unfortunately that doesn't happen for everyone with disabilities. There's not enough recognition for such cases like these.
Put them individually into one of those sensory deprevation rooms and leave them there, they deserve to have their guilt drive them insane to the point of breaking
The only problem with that scenario is that their actions clearly show that they were incapable of feeling guilt, otherwise this would have never happened in the first place.
"We didn't drive her to the hospital because she did not wanna go" ??? Since when did parents start listening to their kids when they are sick?? Here if I sneeze more than 3 times within an hour, my mom will be force feeding me some cold relief concoctions and egging on me and dad would be ready to pull out his car. They will not hear a word I say. And I am a medical professional myself. They will hear none of it. This is sad. Lacy must've been in so much pain and so lonely. It's heart breaking 💔
Thank you for including the info about disabled people and abuse. I myself am disabled and I exercised medical neglect, financial, emotional and mental abuse from my mother for 24 years. I thankfully am far away from her now and have been for years I have a wonderful husband and support system, but many aren't as fortunate as I have been. It's important to talk about these things. ❤️
I'm so glad to hear you guys mention this case! When I first read about it the other day on the news it absolutely broke my heart. My thoughts goes out to the victim & anyone in the disabled community suffering such negligence. They do not deserve this.
Just wondering about this: I’ve heard several sources note that it was unclear whether or not she had locked in syndrome. People who have locked in syndrome cannot normally chew/swallow on their own and normally have a feeding tube installed to obtain their nutrients. That being said, I read that pieces of the couch were found in her stomach as she was so incredibly hungry, that she was eating the couch. This would contradict the locked in syndrome theory. Also, it would be highly unlikely for a person with locked in syndrome to survive in a situation where there was no feeding tube. She was in that state for over a decade meaning she had to have gained nutrients in some capacity from somewhere. Has anyone else heard anything similar? Any thoughts or additional information? Truly a heartbreaking case. Regardless, an innocent life was lost. I hope she has found peace 🙏🏽
This is definitely a difficulty with covering recent cases. It's common for there to be unclear information or for several major sources to get things wrong. A few people have cited an article by the New York Post that the coroner debunked the locked in syndrome, but I can't find any other sources that corroborate it, and there are several sources that confirm locked in syndrome. I do agree that if she had pieces of the couch in her stomach that it contradicts locked in syndrome. I hope that by the time the trial concludes we will have a lot more concrete information. Thank you for the comment!
Thats just so confusing tho... If she could eat the couch then why not leave the couch...? IDK, my gut says these creeps just didn't care a damn bit about their disabled daughter...
@The Misery Machine oh wow!! Thanks so much for responding 😸 I’ve definitely noticed that too, it’s really hard to find reliable reports/news. I think you both do such a good job of compiling the sources out there! & hopefully we’ll all know more soon. I hope this isn’t another case that just disappears. I think often when disabled people are abused the media does not cover it the way that they should. PS- I donated to Prada last evening, I hope she’s doing well 🙏🏽
@@kymo6343 Of course she couldnt leave the couch . She wouldve been far too weak and in too much pain . She was fused to the couch . Out of desperation she was picking off pieces of the couch to eat - it was right in her reach.
Im a nurse and I can tell you she did not have locked in syndrome . She was vicously abused and neglected. Also youd be surprised what the human body can endure . With starvation the body will break down muscle tissue when there is no fat - the body eats itself . I do believe the parents were giving her small quantities of food water at some point but a young person can go on a long time in starvation
But, they’re also some of the kindest most caring people in the world, also. I feel so bad for this young lady. No church-going folks I know would’ve treated her in this horrific way!
Sometimes evil use church attendance and their supposed "God-fearing" ways to.disguise their true nature. Even the devil was good at one point and was also "God-fearing."
Several studies have now shown that very religious people like this are actually way less moral than atheists. Numbers support this. Religion is only used to excuse violence and terrible abuse like this
It seems as the parents were living their best life, despite their child was withering and decomposing on their living room couch. The audacity of this evil... Hell does have a special place, for these involents! justice is much needed here.....RiP young lady!
In the wrong hands, someone vulnerable and at your complete mercy can bring out the evil within you. Considering Lacey's neurodivergence I wouldn't rule out that they were carried away by her prejudice towards her either. Altought never at this level, it's not the first time I've been witness to an abuse situation that reached the limit because the victim, besides being completely helpless, also had a stigmatized identity.
That's what blows my mind in these cases. "They". Two people being so twisted together. If it had been a single parent suffering severe mental illness and not caring properly for themself either, I would still struggle to understand but I know task paralysis is a real symptom of certain conditions but this is TWO people. What happened? "You change her, I did it yesterday." "No I'm tired, you do it" and both just decided it was the other ones responsibility? I just can't even.
I took my mom out of a nursing home because it was a horrible place and with her dementia she was easily abused. I loved caring for her the last few months of her life; I only wish we had more time. So sad for this poor young lady.
Oh man, I lived about 5 miles from Slaughter and used to drive through there often. It makes me sick to my stomach to think that poor girl was suffering all that time and no one helped her. I didn't know this family but I most likely casually interacted with them at some point as I frequently went to all the nearby towns mentioned. You never know what is going on behind closed doors.

This is the most disturbing thing I have ever heard. After hearing this and what the Dr. went through I just lost it, God bless her. This hurts my heart.
my mom actually worked at a company where the parents were clients at. she had no idea about the story until i told her. she just said the names sounded familiar, and then i showed her what the parent looked like. that’s when it clicked. definitely a huge moment of shock, and sadness in our lives. r.i.p sweet girl
There is a tortoise shell cat that lives on my mom's Street, and since my mom lives about a block away from me, I often walk to her place instead of driving. Anytime I walk down her street and that torti cat is outside, it literally chases me down the street hissing and spitting at me, and I have no idea why 😂 Everyone else on the street says that she is a perfectly friendly cat, apparently I am the only person she has ever done this to. And of course I have not ever hurt that cat or anything... It just hates me for reasons known only to it 😂
she was so beautiful :( I heard about this case multiple times via other videos but you guys included a lot of detail about her life prior to this that I didn’t hear before and you explain medical issues very well too, thank you for bringing back the humanity the true crime community seems to have lost
This is horrifying. I am a healthcare worker and three of my clients have locked in syndrome. It distresses me to think about how Lacey must have suffered before she died. Her parents are entirely to blame and should be charged for allowing her to die by neglecting her.
This hits me where I live. I'm Autistic myself and from what it sounds like, we could have been friends. It makes me sick to my stomach that this happened to her. Her parents are monsters who deserve life in prison for letting that happen to a person they were supposed to love. I can only hope that she is at peace now. After what she went through, the dear girl deserves that.
I’m 100% disabled, and I took care of disabled people before my disability. This video is a nightmare. They deserve the same fate, sorry, I have no mercy in this case.
@@alib1919 , it’s ok) In Israel you receive disability status with one or two numbers in percents - physical or/and mental. Hi Prada!! I think her parents should spend the rest of their lives in prison. It's difficult to think of an appropriate sentence to compensate for all the pain and suffering their daughter went through. This could have been prevented had her parents cared even a small amount.
This is a sad story of pure self absorbed laziness. Makes my heart hurt and my mind 💔 😞 why??? Thank you for going through bring this story to the surface 🙏 ❤️. Maybe this will save lives. Love you two and your fact filled cases.
As someone who is a learning disabled adult these cases never surprised me because the neglect is often under reported. I had to raise my voice to my husband's cousins who tried to take advantage of his grandmother who is 96 and started having dementia, her sons took over care and they are very aware of the vultures in the rest of the family. I worry about the old woman who is not my relative but is my good friend. I feel scared also as I started having more severe concentration issues too

Way WAY WAY worse than murder!!!! Torturing some poor soul to death for years on end in the most horrific way possible
After criminally neglecting her for 12 years, they leave her all alone, completely paralyzed, to go on a weekend trip out of town. I'd say that qualifies as a "reckless disregard for human life"/second-degree murder. They deserve life in prison, which is karmically what they gave Lacey.
They deserve nothing less than death.
Well said .
They don't deserve life in prison they still would be getting treated much better than Lacey they deserve the death penalty!!
I know this isn't an option for second-degree murder, but what they deserve is the death penalty.

Lacey had such a beautiful and warm smile. She deserved dignity. I'll never forget this case.
I am positive her parents did this on purpose and this statement doesn't get any power in comparison to "neglect." No motives are discussed for high potential of intentional ill.

Okay so I haven't seen it yet but they're adult daughter? If she's an adult how much can they be abusing her without her allowing it
If a person is literally decomposing in front of you, suffering from acute mental illness, you don't simply say "well, she refused to go to the doctor".
I'm also surprised they didn't decide to just bury her in the back garden since no one ever came looking for her.

Seems like THEY locked her in. No reason they couldnt have repositioned and bathed her.
Very good question
Thank you for pointing that out! Lack of physical mental and emotional stimulation along with malnutrition devastated this poor girl

He was very lucky to have you Corine, ❤️ rest in peace to your Husband.
I have been doing home care for the past twenty years and I know how quickly wet skin can break down. I also know what you mean about how could they just ignore the smell of their daughter decaying for years. I take pride in doing what I can with whatever the clients have to wash them up and do whatever I can to help protect their skin. Just thinking about Lacy laying there makes me so angry
I took care of my grandmother for most of a decade after she broke her neck. She had to be changed every 2-4 hours and I had to roll her and position pillows to prevent pressure sores. Plus bed baths. Changing bedding. It's horrific that they neglected her like this. She deserved better. I wish someone had intervened on her behalf.
The coroner said she didn't have locked-in syndrome, this was just one of the many excuses the parents used for the condition Lacey was found in.
Why did she stay on the couch 12 year if she could move
@Water Bottle I don't remember exactly. It may have been WAFB but it was one of the Baton Rouge news stations if not several.

And yet here we have the homeless, disabled, mental issues, many neglected poor children, veterans suffering elderly suffering, the list is so long. And our tax dollars are not there for them, our own citizens.
It's pur evil.
Just because a person is labeled "pillar of the community" doesn't mean they're good people. I hope Lacey gets justice and those monsters get put away for life. No judge or jury could absolve them.
And the community was small so not much competition to be a pillar
And church going means nothing as well. Plenty of monsters sit on church pews. I hope this young lady gets the Justice she deserves!
The worst types are always those who look and act "respectable". Always.
So many incidents where the person who is pillar of the community becomes the killer if the community
Eye for an eye. 12 years sitting in your own filth, unable to communicate, gradually dying in more and more pain, followed by the horror and indignity of melting into the couch owned by the people who's responsibility it was to raise her and help her thrive. That's what I think the sentence should be...
Not just 12 years, LIFE. They need to rot in prison for life.

They had no problem coming up with $60,000 in a few hours to bond out but they couldn't pay somebody a few hundred to take care of the daughter they choose to bring into this world.... If convicted they should be given a drug that makes it impossible for them to move and left that way until they know what it would feel like to suffer to death.
School was free childcare to them, and when school stopped, their child care did too…
That would be matching the punishment to the crime. That would suit me fine.
One thing a hell of a lot of these stories have in common is "They/He/She were a well respected pillar of the community and always attended church" These are the people who who are Murders - Rap*st - Kidnappers - Child abusers - Torturers and the list goes on. When will society learn just because someone goes to Church and is helpful does NOT mean they are NOT a monster. Evil is real, look around you, then stop and really look around.. NOW tell me what you see. Horrific isn't it!
Mr Fruitgum totally agree.
Yes I know-that's why they're hiding behind their disguise
Tis true! Evil is no respecter of persons or religions.
Unfortunately cases like this one and others truly make religion and Christians look so bad.
You can find evil anywhere!
But God won’t let them get by with it, they will get their just reward in hell.
Some bad people hide under a church. But God know their hearts and will punish them. 95 percent of Christians live on another❤️❤️and live by what Jesus taught.
4:32, how were the parents able to stay in the house with the smell alone. I'm having a very hard time picturing how this all went down. Why did they call the police saying she couldn't breathe when she was clearly dead and decomposing?
That’s why I had to rewatch this video 3 times because I was very much confused. I don’t know how people are so cruel.
Well if you're dead decomposing you can't breathe so they were right about that part.
Yeah I don't understand that either homicide detectives can't even handle that smell of rotting flesh how are they able to
@@kina18 usually when you call 911 saying the victim can't breathe they'll run you through chest compressions whilst they wait for paramedics. 😰

when you knew her as kids, was she “severely autistic” ? They claimed she had social anxiety and was severely autistic. If she was, she would have always been.

I want to say a truly heartfelt thank you for covering this case and the topic in general.
How did you get tested? Asking because I too feel I need to be tested.
Lacey's existence was more horrific than
what is being reported, at the hands of her OWN sperm donor & egg bearer!
Makes sense
I agree, what if she became paralised after being beaten in the head 😕😕 cause, okay, she had "mental problems" but she was social active, she would go to school and Interact, and right before having this lock in syndrome, her behavior changed. It doesn't seem coincidence for me.
Totally agree. For all we know they injured her in such a way that she couldn't get up.
Look dude I'm not gonna deny that SA is completely plausible but this girl definitely had a condition that caused paralysis...
Praying for y’all and your furbaby. I can’t imagine what you’re going through, still being in mourning. My cats are my kids and I would do anything too!❤️
She's doing good! We had a bit of a scare over Thanksgiving, but she bounced right back. She's a tough little lady.

I don't think she even had it. She hasn't seen a doctor in 20 years and there appears to be no proof of a diagnosis

I think there needs to be laws that you can turn your child over, no matter the age, without repercussions. It's ok to leave babies in safe boxes at the fire station. It needs to be OK for any age child. If parents simply can't do it, they need to be able to turn their children over without worrying they'll be in trouble.
Man, considering how bad reality was for her, I really HOPE she managed to mentally check herself out of there...

Life in prison! Let them try and survive in there...it won't go well...I guarantee! Their quality of life will go DOWN
Most people's quality of life goes down when they enter prison.

I work with severely disabled children, one of the children i work with went through this. Being abused & more. People make me sick…
They need to bring back hanging for these types really.
It’s a hard life in prison when prisoners learn why you are in prison. Lacy have s so beautiful😢
I agree, life in prison is too merciful. These monsters should be put down
They must have known she was in her last month's/weeks of life. I think they did not get rid of her because Lacey's condition had become so disgusting they could not bear to touch her. They must have known they would be prosecuted for this level of neglect...
@@debbiep6883 Some people are ignorant enough to think they can’t be punished for doing nothing.
I cannot express how much I don't understand how something like this could happen... Like seriously... This is the saddest thing to think about her situation. Yet her parents went on like nothing was going on, like no one existed.... Things don't just get how they did in a short period of time. That's long term neglect of basic needs and basic care... So sad..
I can’t either…… 😢
Me either. Maybe it just became normalized and they didn't force her and it just escalated. So wrong.poor girl
That’s not my problem! That’s your problem, not mine! You had three meals delivered, sorry! So guess what I have no money, and I am broke! So you can threaten me all you want!
Poor girl. This is something nobody would wish on his worst enemy. May she rest in peace.
Oh Lacey, it haunts me to think that it could have been me had I been born to different parents. I'm so sorry baby.
Oh gosh, yes. That was beyond deplorable as well.
MizBritt8ny:It's not Gaia,it's the vermin that inhabit her.And yet to call a human an animal is an insult.
@@susanmccormick6022 you have a point there. A lot of animals are kinder than some "people".
your coverage of this case is the most detailed, respectful, and informative that I have seen. yet again, thank you both for what you do ❤️
Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
Life without possibility of parole. Best wishes for your sweet kitty.
God bless you
Abused autistic here too. I 100% agreed. Autistic adults who die from abuse and neglect are completely gone under the radar.
It's heart breaking 💔
sneezing doesnt mean you should go to the hospital that's over the top!
There are some truly evil people out there. She deserved to be loved and protected
Thanks so much for responding 😸
I’ve definitely noticed that too, it’s really hard to find reliable reports/news.
The minute I hear that somone is "church going," "god fearing," etc., I think "Uh oh." These are some of the most evil people in the world.
The most dangerous people are often the most righteous.. when you believe you act in the service of a higher power you can do insane things
On god frfr
Several studies have now shown that very religious people like this are actually way less moral than atheists. Numbers support this.
Religion is only used to excuse violence and terrible abuse like this
It seems as the parents were living their best life, despite their child was withering and decomposing on their living room couch. The audacity of this evil... Hell does have a special place, for these involents! justice is much needed here.....RiP young lady!
I wanna see what the devil do to these people-I want a front row seat!
This is the most unsettling case I've heard of. How could they do that to her? Truly unreal.
I hope that didn't come out as if I'm defending them! I just became aware of this case last night and I still can't believe it...
@@invisible3972 what was her stigmatized identity?
That's what blows my mind in these cases. "They". Two people being so twisted together. If it had been a single parent suffering severe mental illness and not caring properly for themself either, I would still struggle to understand but I know task paralysis is a real symptom of certain conditions but this is TWO people. What happened? "You change her, I did it yesterday."
"No I'm tired, you do it" and both just decided it was the other ones responsibility? I just can't even.
"Left to Rot." Hope they rot in jail.
RIP Lacey 💙🙏
Did i just hear that the charges were dropped? How could anyone. I can't even imagine.. I don't even have any words for this this is so sickening
This is absolutely horrifying. She was a beautiful girl, I hope she's at peace now.
This video is a year old but I wanted to give my best wishes. My childhood cat has diabetes, and before we knew, he had multiple seizures. It was so scary, and I held him otw to the emergency vet. 2 years later and he is still a healthy, happy old man. Best wishes for you guys and your kitties
I've spoken to you before about my abuse as a child. Keep on doing what you do. I love you both ! So sorry about your cat. I know how it is to love a previous pet. I lost my 18 yr old toy poodle, MoJo this past January. I am disabled in a weelchair at 73 yrs of age. I nearly lost my will to live when MoJo died (still may) I had him 18 years and I'm so alone now. Good luck with your precious baby !

I really hope your Kitty 😺 gets better, she's a beaut!
Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Prada is so cute 🥰
I have an 8 week old torti kitten that looks like her.
Thank you for covering these difficult cases.
torties are such special cats 💕
There is a tortoise shell cat that lives on my mom's Street, and since my mom lives about a block away from me, I often walk to her place instead of driving. Anytime I walk down her street and that torti cat is outside, it literally chases me down the street hissing and spitting at me, and I have no idea why 😂
Everyone else on the street says that she is a perfectly friendly cat, apparently I am the only person she has ever done this to. And of course I have not ever hurt that cat or anything... It just hates me for reasons known only to it 😂
I want them to experience what they willingly allowed Lacey to go through.
The pain she must've been in and not able to tell anyone! I can't imagine! That's what makes me so sad.
she was so beautiful :( I heard about this case multiple times via other videos but you guys included a lot of detail about her life prior to this that I didn’t hear before and you explain medical issues very well too, thank you for bringing back the humanity the true crime community seems to have lost
I hope you don't mind me asking, but what is '100% disabled'? Do disabilities come in percentages? I'm just curious.
@@alib1919 , it’s ok) In Israel you receive disability status with one or two numbers in percents - physical or/and mental. With this comes your monthly payments etc. I have 100% of mental disability according to the government scale, which also means that I receive a pension and other reasonable help from them no matter if I choose to work sometimes if I feel I’m able to, or not, because I can’t work as much as healthy people do or keep a job for a long time. I’m 35, got disability 4 years ago after a horrible traumatic experience. I’m ok with questions, I volunteer in our local disability center where I previously worked and assist people who need help in the same situation.
Have a nice day!!
@@polinatalmeltzer450 Thankyou for explaining ☺
Hi Prada!! I think her parents should spend the rest of their lives in prison. It's difficult to think of an appropriate sentence to compensate for all the pain and suffering their daughter went through. This could have been prevented had her parents cared even a small amount.
I couldn’t AGREE MORE!
Those things you mean. They should be tortured until they die and kept alive to be tortured as long as possible.
This is a sad story of pure self absorbed laziness. Makes my heart hurt and my mind 💔 😞 why??? Thank you for going through bring this story to the surface 🙏 ❤️. Maybe this will save lives. Love you two and your fact filled cases.
laziness? not evil? interesting.
@@AB-qv9ku Exactly they could have hired help or put her in an institution. Anything but leave her sitting upright in 24/7 and rotting to the bone.
