Hi am very proud of both of you for wanting to restore these old stone houses as the young Portuguese people moved away and have no interest in maintaining these old farms I am Portuguese myself to old to start living off grid hope both of you all the best and please please use safety glasses when working with stone one chip on your eye and you could end up blind look after yourself

@@portugalitis my biggest wish is to go on a holiday to Portugal, but its not easy, all my friends are married, also i work every now and then for tourists, i would be able to go on a holiday in november.

How wonderful the 12 v battery will sure help your fishing trips and just being able to joyfully go on the water, I sure miss those kinds of trips with my dad, he had a wonderful speedboat and would go shark fishing in the Middle East m he won trophies for fishing, we also used to go water skiing. Hello Scott !!! I just looked at Scotland's weather few hours ago and it's 10 degrees in Taynuilt (where we used to go often) what a summer ....
I (Giedre) was working in catering for 18 years in the last few years I was a general manager and run a lovely sites ... Loved my job ... but so so happy we are here :) But my mum and dad had a house in the village so I used to help them in the garden and house .. that's where all my knowledge comes from I am guessing
Andrius was a bus driver, a taxi driver and a sweeper driver .. so he likes driving ;) and he also had Grandparents in vilage so he used to spend summers in there :)
Hope that's explains a bit more about us .. we from Lithuania but we lived 19 years in UK

Its amazing that both of you have accomplish so much to such a high standard without having construction background and you are both so comfortable on the land which I can understand from your backgrounds.
I worked for my city council as a manager and one of my main jobs was hygiene audits of school kitchens, I learned a great deal doing that job as I had no catering experience before that but the kitchen managers were great and they showed me tricks and tips for cooking and also the things to look out for in kitchens with things to hide.
Im still on the city that was an extremely stressful job so now I deal with disability equipment for our residents and its extremely rewarding.

Guys, thanks for sharing your most interesting stone work. I have an idea, for your lovely porch and house, as I see it; the porch on the kitchen side will probably be 1m high, so a stone staircase, 2m wide, and both house and porch floors with lovely, strong and easy to clean, terracotta tiles . Over the porch I would put a high roof, for the light, so you get a most needed extra dining room, to sitting in the shade under. Keep on with your good work!

Wonderful video. I am so happy for you two making good progress towards your goals. The patio terrace is far enough along now you can stand back and begin to see how it will look when completed. This is my favorite part of construction, from only a vision in the mind to fruition. Well done!

Hello Patricia !! we actually got 3 cats !!!! One we brough from UK when we moved her e she is 18 years old and she loves her sleep and food ... Black and white one ... other two they are one year old they similar colours but one is bigger in size ... Gizma (the one was sitting on the stone ) she is petit as we found her when she was 4 weeks old and weigh 250g !!! so I think this effected her size because she was separated from her mum way to early .. But she is perfect hunter and she is full of energy. Raine she loves naping ;) and hunt during the nigh .. so all three of them they so different but they are so loved by me.

Good afternoon... Why didn't they close the kitchen by leaving a window in a door? They could have made the access from the kitchen a door inside the living room. This way they wouldn't have to leave the house to get into the kitchen...
Hello :) That was our original plan two years ago ... but we changed it as it was more practical to do this way ... I rather have separate kitchen and I will have extra wall space in kitchen and living room. :) |Gx

So much work today. The patio floor is taking shape, we can see it how it will be level with the house floor.
Poor Guffy and his little rag toy. Do you have an address or a post office box so we can send him a few toys? Or perhaps an Amazon wish list set up.
We hope you and the animals are keeping hydrated. No one wants heat stroke.

Guffy loves his "rag toy" it's actually a stick which he is happy with and that's the beauty of it he doesn't need any expensive toys (which he got) and get's bored of them in a day or two .. he is happy with simple things just like us !!! Thank you for the kind offer but he got toys which he gives to our neighbour dogs to play with ;) he is kind !!!!
In this heat you had to drink water .. can't wait to have proper fridge freezer so I could make ice ... and do ice drinks ;)

Did i understand right that the house roof and patio roof are going to be seamless and look as one unit? It will look fantastic. Could the two supporting pillars be made of stone or maybe done with blocks or concrete, reinforced with steel and then dressed in stone. It would look amazing. You could charge your power system while you use it and so I wonder why you dont do that, and use the sun to build up the charge while you are using it for the cement mixer.

We do that with our big power bank in a caravan as we charge and have things plugged in at the same time and We do noticed that it effected battery it still should of been more officiant that it is now ... and I believe it's because of us using and charging at the same time .. maybe I am wrong :) G
I dont understand why, when you have so much ceiling height that you would ever want to make it less? Tall ceiling gives the feeling of a bigger room, and up to a degree that is normally a good thing.

Will you be pitching the patio slope away from the house or adding drains? Also I was wondering if you’ll be building the walls up a bit more or increasing the pitch of the room. It might just be on the screen but it seems low.

Вопрос крыши, которую обсуждают все не 1 раз.....Это ваш выбор. Наш опыт строительства - готовая крыша дает тень, защищает от дождя, удобно делать внутренние работы.
Вы только не обижайтесь... Но я сейчас напишу обидные и неприятные для вас вещи. Это конструктивно и не имеет своей целью поставить под сомненье вашу работу и весь прогресс который вы делаете.( Даже с учетом того , что мне не нравится идея каменного дома, извести и прочего...). На мой взгляд, вы неправильно расставляете приоритеты и порядок работ . Идея подвести крышу сразу на 2 пространства - правильная , но вы не успеете по времени . Надо сделать армопояс на доме ( опалубка , арматура , заливка 100 миксов), установить стропильную систему , установить покрытие крыши , мембраны , утепление , обрешетку под черепицу и саму черепицу.....И надо все это сделать до сентября . До сезона дождей. Я бы поставил столбы из профильной квадратной трубы 80*80 или 100*100 , с запасом по высоте, залил её в основании бетоном , а верх потом подрезал в нужный размер . Металл потом можно закрыть камнем , деревом ...Он не гниет , его не едят жуки...
Время ваш главный враг. Под готовой крышей вы можете делать все внутренние работы - засыпать камнями патио , штукатурить стены , монтировать окна , заливать полы ....
Еще раз - этот пост написан не с целью вас обидеть .

I don't think you understood us correctly .. we ONLY do frame for patio so it would be level we not finishing is with stones tiles or anything else ... we not doing anything in the house .. pointing or changing floors will we got roof on .. I do pointing just because I got time in afternoon or I am not doing anything else it's my free time and I choose to do it .. we will start doing roof hopefully in next two weeks ...
we love stone and that's why we bought this land .. so many people said to use blocks to build kitchen ... and they said we are silly building from stone ... I think now they eating they words (if they still watching us ..of course ) it looks so much better that cement blocks .We want to make this house bouse for us not for everyone else !!! we got vision and we are following it as it's ours .. We work hard and we support each other and that's most important ;)

Когда вы собирались делать пристройку дома с другой стороны , я немного утрировал , написав что вы угробите свое здоровье поднимая тяжелые камни . А Андреас мне раздраженно ответил , что он сделает некий "механизм" с помощью которого будет поднимать камни на стену. Хорошо что эту работу сделали бразильские каменьщики .(Тысячи комментариев про их здоровье).

Good idea .. but Still would be hot and that was the only day when we work till 2pm .. next days we finished way earlier before heats goes in... It's hot for me to mix cement by cement mixer ;) during the day as well Gxxx

It’s sad you feel that way. They are entitled in having other income to complete their dreams. Maybe you can send them extra money to compensate!!!!
That's a shame. Filming and editing videos is very time consuming and unless you have hundreds of thousands of subscibers the financial returns are tiny so they deserve any extra benefit that comes their way.
