(these are some comments i made as i watched the video, as a big mitski fan!) i’m surprised you didn’t comment on “texas is a landlocked state,” lol. apparently it’s an inside joke meant to only be understood by the person the song is about (she tweeted this information a few years ago!). the “other language” in “first love / late spring” is japanese; the line means something along the lines (it’s hard to translate exactly) of “my chest feels like it’s going to burst/break,” likely relating to heartbreak or losing her breath, or possibly a mix of the two :] pretty sure the funky synth in “jobless monday” is a stylophone, which is a kids’ toy (though it still sounds cool). it also sounds like she used a kazoo in “drunk walk home,” so i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s actually a stylophone. sometimes kids’ toy instruments have unique sounds that sound great in professional songs! “CARRY ME OUT” IS MY FAVORITE MITSKI SONG. i see many people sleeping on it and calling it boring, which, everyone has their own preferences, so that’s fair, but oh boy did it make me so happy to see someone else who likes it. the song is packed full of emotion and beautiful instrumentation. whenever i listen to it, it makes me want to run and run and run through a biting cold night, with a clear sky and stars laid out above me, as i escape my problems and don’t give a fuck about what others think. it’s such a beautiful song and it makes me feel so many things that i can’t describe in words. finally, a thought of my own: in august of 2020, in california, there was a huge thunderstorm that came out of nowhere - it started the many fires that would lead california to a state of emergency as many had to flee their homes. the thunderstorm woke me up at around 5:00am, and i decided to sit on my balcony and listen to music. i had a slight urge to listen to “bury me at makeout creek,” as it was one of my favorite albums at the time (and it still is). i am so glad that i followed that urge because it ended up being one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. if you are ever in a situation where you can listen to music (SAFELY) in a thunderstorm, i cannot recommend “bury me at makeout creek” enough. this whole album feels like a thunderstorm. i have never been in a situation where my physical presence matched what music i was listening to so perfectly. and i promise you, i cried.

Watched a few of your vids by now, literally going to double-check that I'm subbed after posting this comment but I feel as though a couple names you should be aware of are Nicole Dollanganger and Ethel Cain - ethels first EP golden age is out rn and Nicole has a whole discography that you can honestly take your pick from - you won't find a single bad song and the writing and storytelling/metaphors are incredible - you'd have a whole field day
Actually, in drunkwalk home, she experiments the anxiety, and being tired with the Same problem over and over, so, its to a ponit of desesperation, that is represented being more big and big and big, so, Thats why, at the start is so low, and is creasing untill the point that she Cant get more loud talking, so, at the end she is screaming for the exact Same Reason (i absolutly love that song)(sorry for my bad english)
