I love this album so much , it’s one of the few albums that is able to actually make me genuinely emotional, I’ve always described it like this to my friends - “the albums feels like coming back from a night a out and having so much fun , and then this feeling of loneliness hits you out of nowhere”
I'll write here what it says in Genius about ´do mi ti´ in "Washing machine heart", I really like what it explains. -These solfege symbols (as in "do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti") correspond with the pitch each note is sung at. Mitski sings "do mi ti, why not me?" analogizing the way her lover hears the notes but not the words, the beautiful performance but not authentic self behind the facade. And about "Pink in the night" one of my favorite songs for the lyrics and vocals, mention that "Pink in the Night" is an atmospheric love ballad centered around: "... this visual of someone glowing pink because they're so infatuated. "
I read a pearl as someone struggling to live the fullest life because of its acceptance of their deepest weakness, due to a trauma, lack of love, mental issues etc.. And somewhat accepting it won't go anywhere outside of us.. To the point it drawn us from any possibility of living without this pain. I mean, people relating with this song, go to a psychologist as soon as possible!
@@bennshouts is one of mu faves too!! The two left, are just as good!! Retired from sad, new career in business is incredibly underrated!! Is sooo goood, it has some of Mitskis best songs!! And lush is just a masterpiece overall, one of the best debut albums to ever exist imo
Mitski has said that this album and a lot of her other songs are not autobiographical and therefore a lot of these songs don’t relate to her life. for example, me and my husband is about a woman who feels like she cant commit to a life-long relationship and is also rumored to be about domestic abuse
i-, si pero ella representa la soledad de alguien que puede tener gente a su alrededor, y aun asi sentirse sola, solo que mitski lo representa de una manera teatral que incluso se escucha en el inicio
If you’re not familiar with Fiona Apple, I suggest reacting to her album Fetch The Bolt Cutters. It was the most acclaimed album of last year and won a couple Grammys. Fiona is beloved by so many musicians and has influenced many, including Mitski.
@@bennshouts If u do react to ‘Fetch’ just know that it’s not very much not “easy listening” or a “pretty album” for the most part. It’s like garage punk meets blues meets jazz meets lofi hip-hop. And it deals with some rather heavy subjects here and there. It’s a great album that’s worthy of the acclaim it got. It is very much its own experience. The rest of Fiona’s catalog is also pretty strong, and it’s slightly more pop than ‘Fetch’. But yeah, every music nerd should get into Fiona. She’s too acclaimed, influential and beloved in the industry.
One time I was listening to blue light while driving over a bridge and i had a sudden urge to drive off the bridge during the switch up in this song and… I still feel that to this day

So so excited for her next album, the newest single is absolutely amazing 😭 you should react to the hyperpop avant-garde pinkprint for artists like Charli XCX and 100 gecs, the masterpiece that was My Teenage Ended by Farrah Abraham 😶

a pearl is one of my favorite songs of all time... the lyrics being a metaphor for ptsd from abusive relationships.... so amazing
