    Thank you so much. You are the only person that cared enough to outright put this noise on here and put it at the beginning. Subscribed. That's exactly what my sound was. Couldn't find it anywhere. I was afraid it was a bad vacuum hose losing air or some horrible suspension issue, but thank Christ. That is the most unnerving noise I've ever heard in my vehicle lol You have solved my issue. Smaller tires here I come.

      It's good to know what is causing all of the noises!

  • @webwebber
    @webwebber 3 года назад +1

    This might have helped, a bit. The correct way to eliminate the problem, most videos won’t tell. If you have a more aggressive offset, this won’t be enough. BMW has a sponge strip on the inner lining then they spray the undercoat on top. You have to remove the undercoat and sponge strip in order to bend the inner fender further inwards. That will take time and effort. Plus you can install a negative camber kit to help. Better yet is to have a coil over to raise the car a bit if necessary, yet still keeping a good looking stance.

    Raised my coilovers a hair, smacked my car into neutral and put some nice new grey lines into my impact sockets. Worked a charm, didn't have to buy a tool that'd sit around my shed for years.

      Steven B. Hi, thanks for watching! I didn't address that issue in the video, but what I did is get hold of an old inner liner, cut out part of it, and then riveted and glued it to the existing liner so that it was wide enough to reach. It is a bit of a hassle, but I think it is worth it to keep the noise down and the salt and other road gunk out. All the best in doing something similar for your car.

      Hi, it worked enough to get the 265s under there, so it gave me the extra 10mm that I needed to stop the rubbing. Unfortunately I didn't catch it quick enough, so the inner sound guard needed a bit of surgery to put back together.

    • @StevenBTuner
      @StevenBTuner  4 года назад +1

      Hi, thanks for watching! You should be able to get a bit more clearance using this method, but it is not without risks. There is a chance of cracking your paint, or any old body filler that you didn't even know about. You will also need to treat the inside of the steel with some new anti-rust coating, as well as modify the sound-deadening inner lining so that it still reaches the full width it needs to. So, quite a lot of work, but could be well worth it!

    • @StevenBTuner
      @StevenBTuner  2 года назад

      @@syleuva310 I'm never a fan of things rubbing where they're not supposed to - so it is a good idea to find out where the rubbing is occurring so that you can keep an eye on it. A common thing to happen is for the inner lining to wear through, which can then catch salty grit if you live in a cold region where they salt the roads.
