The R6 Mark II is easily the most underrated and underreported camera of the past year. For some reason lesser cameras like the S5 II and A7IV seem to get all the attention despite only having cropped 4K60 and crippled high speed modes in HD. Even the Canon ambassadors don't really mention this camera.
Also, it goes toe to toe with the R5 when it comes to photo resolution. I've compared upsampled R6 II files with R5 files and it's very hard to see a difference in most cases. When I use the "Enhance Super Resolution" feature of Adobe Camera Raw, the R6 II files actually are more detailed (100% zoomed in) and can print larger than native R5 files. I've printed 8MP billboard ads before so 24 MP is more than plenty for anything.
Also kudos to you for mentioning keeping ISOs at multiples of 100, 200, 400, 800, etc. This cam works best at these full stops and almost no reviewers out there acknowledge this (applies to photo and video).
I shot as a pro for 18 years with some of Canon's best cameras (owned the 1D Mark III for 12 years) and the R6 II beats them all by a huge margin. I bought the EF/RF adapter and got the Sigma Art 14-24 2.8, 50 1.4, and Canon EF 70-200 2.8 III and this setup is INSANELY powerful. I shoot hockey and the R6 II with the 70-200 III was nearly perfect, blowing away the 1D series cam I used to use with nearly 98% hit rate even with eye AF. The Sigma lenses on the R6 II are way, way, WAY more reliable than when I used them natively on the 5D Mark IV or 1D Mark III (or even the EOS R).
Plus, here in Canada, the Sigma Art lenses have a 5 year warranty vs only 1 year with the Canon RF lenses.

Having 4k 60p with no crop is amazing. I just wish Canon would add 4k DCI recording through a firmware update. I don't think that's too much to ask given what the Panasonic S5 mark II can do for a lower cost. It would be nice to use the R5 and R6 mark II in tandem while both recording in 4k DCI. Great video by the way!

I've had the R6 Mark II for a little over a month. I came from the Canon 90D crop sensor camera. I've barely scratched the surface of learning the features on this camera. The basic adapter is allowing me to use the 90D lenses. The only issue there is that the EF-S lenses lose resolution delivering about 9.375 mp instead of 24 mp. The Sigma 150-600mm and the Canon Nifty 50 produce 24 mp images. I just have to remember to set the crop factor in the menu.

Great stuff, and a lot of food for thought. As an old (ish), archaic-type guy, I'm still working with DSLR, and I hadn't given much thought to moving to mirrorless. However, I'm starting to think that an R62 may be a nice addition to my bag. (I've still got my original 300D that I've had for 20 years, and is too much of an old friend to toss; I also use a 20D, 7D2, and 1DX3.) I had been giving thought to maybe picking up a 5D4, but that really would be redundant. Since all my lenses save for a soon-to-come Sigma 100-600C and an old Tokina 19-35 are Canon EF/EF-S, it's good to know that the EF-RF adapter would allow me to keep using my EF lenses. I don't know, Christmas is coming…

The part of you comment that really stood out to me was "i want to get real good at it". It reminded me of myself at 17. So here is you answer in an easy to digest point form.
      - Nail down the exact photography style you like to do. Having several styles of subjects matters if fine.
      - If you want to do close up subject stuff like portraits/ cars get prime lenses between 16mm and 85mm
      - if you want to do far away stuff like sports or wild life. Get a zoom lens something between 70-200 or a 24-105 beginer lens
-If you are doing portraits/ cars look for a full frame camera. Otherwise Apsc will be just fine
      - Take a course on cameras and learning to shoot. that explain things like lens/ sensor size and raw files
      - Lightroom is your friend.
leave more comments if youy have more questions. Best of luck friend

Sure the mechanical shutter is great and 12fps is enough but it defeats the purpose. Canon will provide stacked sensors in the future on midrange cameras but they should have just done it now. Nothing against lumix. Love the b-raw and pro res support. But I was disappointed by the auto focus. I have a test coming for it later this month

    Canon is a nasty company.

After struggling trying to get this damn thing to tether ive decided the R6 mii is the worst camera Ive had to this point. Marketplace here I come.

Might wanna talk to canon and make sure its not defective. I use the tethering on a daily basis with an ipad pro , I have had no issues

Naaaah I was a Canon R6 shooter, but I switch to Sony for the 24mp, Codec and lenses. Anyway good video.

I’m ready for a new camera but I can’t consider Canons RF range because the build quality on both the camera and lenses just doesn’t cut it, I was thinking R6II and the RF 24-105 but when I look at my EOS 70D and compare it to the new Canon RF cameras they look like toys in comparison, sure they will probably focus a lot faster and have lots more bells and whistles but I go in to some pretty harsh conditions and I feel the RF kit wouldn’t be able to stand the knocks and would be looking pretty rough in no time with that cheap looking plastic. Other offerings from Nikon, Sony and Fujifilm look much more robust and a lot more classy. I just can’t give Canon my cash for this stuff, just my personal opinion.
