  • PNF is technique used to improve neuro muscular coordination and endurance. it can be used in different population according to needs. this video explains about how physiotherapist can apply PNF patterns for strengthening purpose using D1 and D2 Flexion/ Extension Patterns. Also this video explains position of therapist as well as hand placement for the application of D1 and D2 pattern for upper limb as well as lowerlimb.       That depends on patients strength of muscles. In range where patient has good strength you can give mild resistance and where no strength you can assist to complete the pattern.

    Can we exercise shoulder joint above 90 in flacid stage?. what about the Scapulohumeral rythm sir?

      Yes we can exercise above 90 with precautions to prevent dislocation. PNF pattern is formed in such a way that even scapular muscles can be activated with same. So for initial recovery it will work for whole shoulder complex.

      Yes it has to be not only rhythmic but you have to follow all the principles of PNF. And repetitions can be 10-15

      As per ACSM while doing flexibility after warm-up and hold its for 10-15 seconds initially and later 15-30sec for 10-15 reps. 2-3 days/WK (but 7 days/wk is more beneficial)

      No.as far as one hand is that placed at same place we can change another hand for comfortable position

      Not in initial stage, first you need to increase the tone of the muscle by different techniques like body weight compression technique , and once tone is increasing you can use this technique to break the patterns developed

      @@Physiotrendz2990 Ok! minute 1:08 you are doing flexion add and you hands are backwards. you should be leading with you left hand not your right , after that you switch to extension abduction , the arm should be internally rotated.
      Minute 4:24 flexion abd your right arm should be in the other side of the patient . When you are doing extension add you right hand is in the wrong position.Lower extremity flexion add you are not getting enough knee flexion. Going to extension add you are starting with not enough knee flexion. right after that you are performing flexion abd lower extremity starting with the right lower extremity crossed on the left that is a big NO!!!!!!. In all the patterns you are not facing the diagonal.
