Great stuff, and a lot of food for thought. As an old (ish), archaic-type guy, I'm still working with DSLR, and I hadn't given much thought to moving to mirrorless. However, I'm starting to think that an R62 may be a nice addition to my bag. (I've still got my original 300D that I've had for 20 years, and is too much of an old friend to toss; I also use a 20D, 7D2, and 1DX3.) I had been giving thought to maybe picking up a 5D4, but that really would be redundant. Since all my lenses save for a soon-to-come Sigma 100-600C and an old Tokina 19-35 are Canon EF/EF-S, it's good to know that the EF-RF adapter would allow me to keep using my EF lenses. I don't know, Christmas is coming…

@adude394 I can vouch for a few things. I went mirrorless early in 2023. I gave my son my Canon 5D mk II and purchased The R6 with the RF 24-105 f4 It's great I was able to continue using my EF 70-200 mkIII Lens with the adaptor on my R6 Very good pictures. After seeing my results with my R6, my son was ready to jump into the Mirrorless Arena. I sold him my original R6 at a friends and family discount. Now I own the R6 mkII It really is an all around Great Camera. I started watching more videos on RUclips on how to properly setup The R6mkII for video I'm really
stepping up my game. The stills are amazing also. I believe that there are still some Holiday Price Reductions to be had. I took advantage of B&H 12 months zero interest credit card and was able to pay it off in 10 months. Free money is hard to come by

I did a lot of research for the past 6 months on the R6 and A7IV and was about to buy the R6 as it was a better camera, but then the R6 II came out and I got that (for less money than the A7IV during a Christmas sale). WOW. The R6 II is THE BEST camera in its class followed by the A7IV, R6, then finally the S5 II in last place.
The R6 II actually has sharper IQ than the A7IV despite the resolution difference. When I upscale the R6 II files to 33 MP they are more detailed than the A7IV files for some reason (weaker AA filter?). Also, the R6 II beats the A7IV in dynamic range and ISO noise (Alex Barerra also did comparisons showing this). The R6 has much faster burst rates and way better electronic images due a much faster sensor than the A7IV. AF on the R6 II is also slightly better and more "intelligent".
For video the R6 II has the best 4K including the only camera with full frame oversampled 4k60! Meanwhile the A7IV only has severely cropped 4K60 (a big reason I didn't want it). Dynamic range, and ISO noise is about the same for video with Clog3 and Slog3. The R6 II has the fastest sensor readout of any full frame non stacked camera too . The A7IV has really bad rolling shutter by comparison.
The battery life on the R6 II is best in class, about 50% better than the A7IV, R6 and S5 II. Also the A7IV has lower quality ergonomics and a terrible LCD screen with almost no touch ability.
The S5 II is highly overrated. Yes, Panasonic cameras can finally autofocus, but still has focus issues for video (check out DSLR Videoshooter's review) and its photo AF is only about Nikon level.
Battery life is terrible as is rolling shutter (about as bad as the A7IV). ALL of the high speed video modes are crippled: 4k60 has a huge crop, HD120 has a crop with limited AF, and HD180 has a crop with no AF. Terrible. Also this camera has much slower photo burst rates compared to the R6 II. There was no reason to justify buying this camera when for $100 more you could get a much better R6 II camera that is also part of a much , much better camera system (along with all the EF lenses that work as well as native RF lenses due to Canon's amazing adapters).

The R6 mark ii images (when shooting people/portraits) have an artificial clinically sharp look to them which I do not like. Both the R6 and R5 have this stunning cinematic quality in their photo's, I find that this quality and feel is missing in the R6 Mark ii images. I too thought that the clinically sharp, almost lifeless, empty and artificial look was caused by removing the low pass filter. But it seems it is caused by some artificial sharpening system? It is especially noticeable and disturbing while shooting people/portraits. I will definitely keep my original R6, as I feel it has the perfect look and balance while the R6 mark ii does not give me the look I want and feels a bit like a failed experiment with the (overly) artificial sharpness.

@@mariavanschie7946 If you have the R6 and only do photography, it's not worth upgrading. I just got the r6II because now I don't just want to do photography (R6II is very good), I want to do video too, and because of the new features for video the R6II is perfect for me.

@@mariavanschie7946 i can’t post a link here unfortunately The comment gets flagged, I tried to post a link to a set of raw files from both cameras. I tried to compare R5 and R6 mk2 in a portrait situation and I don’t see any sharpening happening. And when I resize R5 file to 24mpx it’s is sharper than the R6 mk2 file. I did put the sharpening to 0 in adobe camera raw. Adobe sets it to 40 natively in ACR and Lightroom so maybe that is the problem. Since you can’t use the same sharpening settings for different file sizes.

I just used my GH6 as a Webcam 3 days in a row 8h per day. Battery runs out after 4 h. So I needed to full charge during lunch. 22°C room temp.
So IF you want video, a product with a fan is probably a very good idea.

The S5 II is probably last compared to the R6 II, A7IV (and maybe even the R6). The S5 II is still behind the Canon and Sony systems (but much improved) and it falls behind the R6 II in these ways:
      R6 II has full frame oversampled 4K60. S5 II has cropped/crippled 4k60
R6 II has full frame HD120 and HD180 with full AF. S5 II has cropped/crippled HD120 HD180 with limited/no AF. All of the S5 II high speed video modes are crippled.
R6 II has much faster burst speeds for photos as well as better autofocus for photos.
R6 II has much, MUCH faster sensor readout with MUCH better rolling shutter
R6 II has much better battery life (50% better).
R6 II has much, MUCH better lens selection including all EF lenses which work 100% the same as native RF lenses (adapted lenses on Panasonic have issues)
R6 II has better ergonomics and menus.
      1. R6 II
      2. A7IV
      3. R6
      4. S5 II

Hello I would like to know one thing about the Canon R6 Mark2, here I saw that he heats in 4K 50 I from 40 minutes, but does not heat in 25 i in 4 k. My question is, when it heats up in 50 i if I go immediately in 25 i, then continue the recording or it must cool anyway?
If a owner of R6 Mark 2 can do the test SA would be cool

    • @77dris
      @77dris Год назад +3

Not really. Unlike other companies, Canon has made EF adapters that make EF lenses work as well (sometimes better) than native RF lenses. I got all third party lenses for my R6 II including the Sigma Art 50, Sigma Art 14-24. As an example, the Sigma Art 50 is sharper than the native RF lens, and it focuses faster (about 2x faster than the 1.2 and 1.8 RF lenses). There is no downside to using the EF adapter unlike on Sony, Panasonic, or Nikon systems.
Additionally, even with the adapter, the Sigma Art 50 is smaller than the native RF lens.

@@harryvlogs7833 I'm a photographer. Yes I shoot Canon but otherwise I'm hardware agnostic. Each camera manufacturer has the quirks. No one is going to say that the Lumix has better AF then it's rivals. I think Lumix is a great camera. But your scenarios differ based on what your needs are. If you're invested in the L alliance, Lumix is an amazing choice and honestly I would get it as a second body. But it doesn't have to be oh this is better than that this is yada yada yada. Sometimes it is, but not in this case.
The Lumix is a good camera, but to say it's better overall than r62 I'm sorry is just done. The Lumix is better if you're more focused on video that's for sure.
