    Hey buddy I’m following every step of this rig. Thank you so much for taking the time to show this, I’m a plumber and have been for 24 years and i have a small performance transmission shop I run from my at home shop and would much rather build my own sim rig than to buy something and I’ve been fabricating for over 20 years and your details on this design makes this a breeze to follow so again thank you so much for sharing and helping

      I hope that my videos help you out.. It's not terribly complex but it does take a little while to make one.. Thanks for your comment and all the best! I did make a couple series on this topic Dave

      Thanks for taking a look D. It's definitely different dealing with the winter weather even though it's not too bad out here. I have some modifications to take care of on the top frame to allow easier entry. I think it's going to be great! See you on the discord! Dave

      Thanks Luis.. Well, I now have the bottom frame in paint, the mid frame has been worked over and in primer drying right now. Hope to get it into paint this weekend.. I wish I could work on this project every day but I only get Saturdays.. so it takes a while.. Stay tuned.. should be running soon.. Electronics next and full testing.. Dave

    Thank you Dave. This one was right on time as I was trying to figure out the front engine mounts on mine. I ran out of steel so had to other a few additional sections (I am in over 60ft right now being really frugal with my cuts). Nice job on this one and thanks for the grinder disc tip.

      Great comment 95twr! Yeah actually I saw that flap disc on another channel.. I went to HF and lowes and they did not have anything like it.. finally Home Depot had it.. of course it's brand new, so it really cuts quick! for those inner angles it's hard to get em smooth. Should be working on the top frame modifications in the next video.. Thanks for watching! Dave

      @DMAX_DIY I tagged you with my progress on xsimulator yesterday. Just happy that maybe by this weekend I can get most of the welding done and figure out the balancing. Never thought I could build something like this so thanks for the inspiration.

    Woohoo. Glad to see ep 7! Getting those motors mounted really let you see it is all coming together. The bottom frame looks spiffy all primed and painted up!

    The crab pot motors are very easy to pull apart and flip the shaft on.

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 года назад +1

      Yeah it looks like just a few screws.. I'm going to try it this weekend.. The motors are just sitting there on the rig but I have to take them off to do the bodywork.. Thanks for the tip! Dave

    Hi my favorite workoholic :) busy during the week - busy during weekends !!!
    The new rig is looking like perfect fun for racing and big time motion for flight sims. Great job!
    I am still not sure how to build my DEVICE 2.0 as the first version is still very satisfying, woking and already so compact (the lenghth is exactly as your new one 48") plus I do not habe that much space in the front of the rig at my home.
    That is why it was a good lesson for me to wait and see your compact version evolve.
    See you on track - Saturday Night at Monaco was crrrraaaasy !!!

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 года назад +2

      Yeah.. Monaco in the GPL cars .. way fast! Yes I think the new rig will work out good. Putting a lot of thought into it for max performance and a small area. I'll see soon how well it works out! Thanks for taking a look at the video, Dave

    Nice design! I just picked up a Fanatec GT DD and (previously running a G27) was thinking about building one of these 3dof rigs. This will be a good first project for my Miller 350p I just picked up!

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 года назад +2

      WOW Miller is a great name.. You should have no problems with fabrication - I'm still a bit of a rookie. This design focus is for DD wheelbases, but without using the giant aluminum profile. Trying to use geometry for strength. Hope to have it running soon Bill. Thanks for taking a look and I'm already starting on the next video. Dave

      The design looks pretty good! The only thing I may do different is go with round tubing instead, just because that's what I have available and I have a bender.

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 года назад +2

      @@billdeitz1065 Yeah.. I been thinking about getting a bender.. I saw a 'manual' ratchet one for around $400 ez bend or something.. but maybe next year.. Want to make a thin golf cart like buggy for my wife. would be easier and probably cheaper than the square tubing.

    I have been waiting for the video. It's so exciting that i can't notice the time and the video seems only 5 minutes short. :D Could watch it for hours. Nice build so far, hope it works like you want. Now i also started my theoretical DIY video series. But only in german. Unfortunately there is nothing useful in my language on youtube. Cold 26° degrees Fahrenheit Greetings from Germany.

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the comments motionBasti! Oh 26 degrees F is not the best for sure. I have a heater in the garage that warms it up a bit.. but a lot of the work like welding /painting needs to have the big garage door open for air.. so I have to pick and choose during the winter. I just started working on the upper frame modifications.. Hope to have something out soon! Dave

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 года назад +2

      If it turns out good.. yes.. but if it turns out to be unstable, I'll modify it till it works.. probably ok.. I've never built a front pusher before.. so new territory.. Dave

    • @95twr
      @95twr 2 года назад +1

      @DMAX_DIY the one thing that I am wondering, with the narrow base is if it is top heavy and could tilt. I have yet to see a problem with the way its designed though.

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 года назад +2

      @@95twr very possible. but putting the motors out like I did should mitigate and help stabilize.. but we will see. If the 'design' not stable enough, well, then we will know. and a different design or modification will have to take place.. These things really respond and react just like a car (in my opinion after driving race cars for many years and these simulators for the last 3 years or so).. we will see.. I am the Guinee pig.. the tester.. I'm going to lay it out there no matter what on this series.

    • @95twr
      @95twr 2 года назад

      @DMAX_DIY I have already come up with a possible solution for my case if needed and it wouldn't require changes to the frame. I will simply use a few 4x4s anyways to fix it when I am not using the wheels with a u brace.

    Way to go Dave but my question is how are you going to be able to get in and out of it?? Looks like it's gonna be tough?? Great to see it coming along! Take care.

    • @DMAX_DIY

      Well as we both know, it tough for us old guys to crawl in and out of rigs.. I have a modification coming up next episode that should make it easy, yet maintain the strength of the upper frame. Thanks for watching and glad your back at it! Dave

    Hi D max, just a couple of questions: I see that DC motors are powered by car batteries, how long does a game session last before discharging? where can I buy a racing chair like yours? Please continue with the tutorial. Thanks man.

      Hi good question.. So my battery is on a 4 amp battery tender.. been on it for 3 years now.. I run the rig about 3 hrs at a time, but it never runs out of power so battery tender is the way to go.. Sometimes I leave it on (accidentally all weekend too cause I'm old and forget).. Hope that helps.. Dave

    Why aluminum profile is best for motion, limits customize once welded. A plus its extreme light with aluminum with zero flex

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  Год назад

      You bet.. So the next rig I make I'm going to be building it with Aluminum. At least now I have a few steel ones to compare weight and performance. Hope to show that on my new series.. Dave

  • @austinpetemo

    That looks like its going to be terrible to get into and out of. Especially once it has a wheel and shifter on it.

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 года назад +1

      austinpetemo, you are absolutely correct! Yeah if I was about 20 years younger I would not care, but I'm not, so I have a design modification to the left side of the top frame which will make it easy to get in and out just like my other rig.. I'll be updating the geometry of the top frame and it should be just a strong. Thanks for taking a look. New video out soon hopefully. Dave
