"simtools Pro" Hello Dave. I have been putting my rig together for about a month. It is a 2 DOF rig. At first I tried to use wiper motors they where not even strong enough to move the chair. So I scraped that idea and went with the wheelchair motors. I finally got it done yesterday and plugged it all in and had everything working properly and one of the motors went a little crazy and smashed a few wires and now my Arduino no longer works. Anyway I appreciate all you have shown me through all your videos. Keep up the good work!! Maybe I'll see you on the track soon.
Scott, your in the next drawing.. hope you win.. yeah the wiper motors are really not a good comparison against commercial motors.. i did test them as best I could but if your going to moving 180 pounds around .. you need some torque and power.. Hope you win my friend! Dave
Simtools Pro! have side by side rigs that are not motion me and my daughter race on. planning one building some motion rigs after watching how well yours have turned out! keep up the solid work.
Simtools Pro, as a continuation to my comment on last video where I said that I was making my own steering wheel, I have recieved a new motor and a few parts that will make a big difference in wheel. In my part of the world the winter holidays are just around the corner and they will be the perfect time to spend on making my own rig. Thank you for making these videos, they are very helpful and are motivating me to keep on working
Hello StdoProjects.. your in the drawing for Simtools pro give away #2 for 2023.. good luck and hope you win.. Yeah it's hard to describe how much a motion sim helps with the immersion.. thanks Dave for sharing your knowledge, your project and giving us the opportunity to get simtools pro again, as you progress with the project I am attentive to the corrections that arise. I want to see how I can give an adjustable angle to my steering wheel.
SimToolsPro...Happy New Year Dave. I think I should reinforce the base of the Fanatec engine a little more, in 2022 I bought a DirectDrive, although it oscillated a lot and I had to put 2 reinforcing iron bars in my cockpit, it's good to think and draw the design, although we all ended up trying and modifying... a greeting.
Your in the drawing my friend! yeah.. I get it.. the DD wheel should be awesome once the force it applied to the frame without dampening.. Thats exactly what I'm trying to do in the new build.. 100percent force with no damping.. Still modifying myself.. next video should be good.. hope you win my friend! Dave
Hey Manny! your in the next drawing.. Hope to have a bit more 'content' for the next video now that I'm not 'down with the sickeness' anymore.. hahah Dave

your in the drawing now my friend! best of luck! really want to try some of that aluminum profile this year myself.. weight is the key to the top frame hahah Dave
Curious. Why put the long tie rods on the front and not just longer levers and shorter tie rods near the pedals? Is it just the amount of movement with the long tie rods?
Great question.. but easy answer is leverage.. The motors I have a tested for the last 4 years. They are strong but I used mechanical advantage to help them. I can possibly move the motors closer to the bottom of the frame but I dont know if they will handle it very well. I will do some ampere tests once I get this compact sim built. but for now just want to get my 'idea' working.. It may fail.. IDK. but with the levers and attachment points in the place I want them, high up, it will probably be fine.. It's experimental - so this video series is experimental too.. Stay tuned if your can.. Dave
@@DMAX_DIY thanks for the quick reply and makes sense. I’ve seen similar builds with wiper motors near the bottom of the seat and think these beefy motors you use would be perfect for it. Subscribed and truly enjoy your builds. Might move forward with your inspiration and experiment myself.

Simtools pro Great videos, i am still in the stage of researching a 3 DOF sim rig similar to what you are building with the traction loss. Hopefully i will end up building a 8020 aluminum F1 sim rig.
Hello Kr2silva, unfortunately that give-a-way has ended. but I have some more planned for an upcoming video so stay tuned. I also want to make an F1 style rig.. So far all I have done is GT style.. and yes I want to use aluminum profile too. Probably a few months away as I am still building out the Compact motion sim you just watched.. Dave
Simtools pro!, my rig is going to be 40x80 alu extract profile on top for str, got a simucube 2 pro and run high power, 15nm. Middel layer and lower layer will be 30x30mm steel profile. Its going to be a 3 dof for now. Going to make a another 3dof version with sway and surge instead of tilting the rig just to see how it feels. On the way to build my own pedals just for fun. Have it all motors and electronics home just need to find the time to do it :) As allways awesome video man.
Your in the drawing my friend! good luck! i'm putting the drawing on video 10 so should be out tomorrow hopefully! simucube 2 is one wicked wheelbase from what I hear from everyone who has one!
Thanks Cris.. your in the next drawing.. It takes a while to build cause I only have a few hrs on the weekend to 'race' or build, or video.. but it's a BEAST! should be good! hope you win my friend! Dave
SIMTOOLS PRO Last time I told you about my future plans for a rig but this time I’ll let you know I’m currently using a night stand to hold my wheel as it’s lower than my desk so it makes it feel more like a car than a truck lol. It definitely looks goofy but it works
Well Nicholas, your in the drawing.. Hope you win! Yeah we all gotta start somewhere.. me too.. I had the desk setup.. which was fine.. It was what I was used to and what I liked.. till I found VR.. then "POOF" the world changed.. Now with motion? unreal.. err.. semi real.. cant go back now.. wish you good luck in the drawing tomorrow night.. working on the video for it right now.. Dave
SIMTOOLS PRO Gratz to @Luca! @dmax Thanks for not shying away from showing us your trial and error. Not only is it nice to see that even someone who has amassed a lot of experience building can and does still make mistakes but it is also helpful to see your thought process work out improving your design. For me it is really interesting to see how you go about it. Hopefully it will mean that Ill have a few extra tricks in my tool bag when I build! Keep up the great work, and thank!

Simtools Pro. Hi Mr. D, I'm planning to build a motion sim but I still don't know how many degrees(3Dof vs 4Dof). In your opinion what would you recommend to enjoy Simracing? What do you think about using wiper motors(24V) in the project? And what's the most important thing we should see when buying the motors? Thanks
Hey Ricardo.. Good question.. I would say that 2 DOF (full frame) is awesome. but 3 DOF *adding traction loss* is the next step above .. So the motors.. I would actually spend the $100 bucks each for good motors.. Like I use here.. 12 volt Crab pot motors.. they are 50:1 ratio which means better torque and control.. If you have more questions just feel free to ask.. No problem my friend! Dave
I bought a Forney Easyweld 261 from Amazon as a starter and it does everything one wants. I am following Dave along with his build and mine built thread is on xsimulator as well.
your in the drawing RicheyB! good luck! yeah.. the one I got was the titanium flux core.. seems to work pretty well on the thin metals, although i still burn through from time to time.. it's been running for 3 years now and i use it all the time. however, it is not as good as a lot of more expensive ones.. i did get the 2 year warantee, which expired a year ago now.. so fingers crossed again hahah!
Hey man love what your doing. I ordered an uno r3 but it looks different. I'll send a pic. Will it work do you know. Also going send you a pic of the rig I already built myself. I got 3 jazzy 12-24vdc motors ( pretty massive motors) anyways you will be probably hearing from me in the future ..

Dave
Simtools pro!,
my rig is going to be 40x80 alu extract profile on top for str, got a simucube 2 pro and run high power, 15nm.
Middel layer and lower layer will be 30x30mm steel profile.
Its going to be a 3 dof for now.
Going to make a another 3dof version with sway and surge instead of tilting the rig just to see how it feels.
On the way to build my own pedals just for fun.
Have it all motors and electronics home just need to find the time to do it :)
As allways awesome video man.
Your in the drawing my friend! good luck! i'm putting the drawing on video 10 so should be out tomorrow hopefully! simucube 2 is one wicked wheelbase from what I hear from everyone who has one!
Simtools pro! Don't worry Dave, we trust you to finish the project no matter how long it takes!
Thanks Cris.. your in the next drawing.. It takes a while to build cause I only have a few hrs on the weekend to 'race' or build, or video.. but it's a BEAST! should be good! hope you win my friend! Dave
SIMTOOLS PRO
Last time I told you about my future plans for a rig but this time I’ll let you know I’m currently using a night stand to hold my wheel as it’s lower than my desk so it makes it feel more like a car than a truck lol.
Dave
SIMTOOLS PRO
Gratz to @Luca!
Your "IN" rmdm.. of course .. thanks for watching the random drawing is this week.. so Stay tuned! Dave

I have Simxperience direct drive on a homemade rig (think cut table and re-purposed pallet). It gets the job done!
Hey Dan.. your in the next drawing. Yeah.. it's a bit of a project to get it all done.. But man o man.. I've been driving the V1 rig for like 3 years and could not be happier ** except maybe with a 6 DOF** hahah. Keep cool buddy! Dave

Hi Mr. D,
I'm planning to build a motion sim but I still don't know how many degrees(3Dof vs 4Dof).
Dave
SimTools Pro.... let's give er another go.......
Hey jeffrey! good to hear from you.. yeah.. Let's give it another rip! Your in the next drawing my friend! Dave
Simtools Pro fingers crossed I'll get it this time. Do you have a good entry level welder you'd recommend? Do you still like your harbor freight one ?
I bought a Forney Easyweld 261 from Amazon as a starter and it does everything one wants. I am following Dave along with his build and mine built thread is on xsimulator as well.
your in the drawing RicheyB! good luck! yeah.. the one I got was the titanium flux core.. seems to work pretty well on the thin metals, although i still burn through from time to time.. it's been running for 3 years now and i use it all the time. however, it is not as good as a lot of more expensive ones.. i did get the 2 year warantee, which expired a year ago now.. so fingers crossed again hahah!
SimTools Pro
