Just to be extra clear here. I got paid to make this video from akk. It didnt change the outcome or my feelings on the product but just want to be open about it. Happy flying guys
Wait, you take a 5watt Vtx and don't test the one thing we use em for? Seriously no range test? why else would u use one of these? you didn't even run it at full power once? is this a teaser vid?
Oh boy you lose picture for a second when your arm it so what big deal it happens all the time and oh I have a 5 watt VTX it's made to go 20 km but I'm going to go 50ft and not leave my yard I'm not going to put it on full power so what is the point of your review
@@TobiasYoderFpvI know exactly where he's located and actually yeah he can and even if he doesn't go 10 km he could at least go you know to the next yard or you know a couple of blocks or you know to the end of the field
@devilsreject78 idk man I think i only went about half a mile when I did my review video on these vtx's 🤷♂️ 10km with a freestyle oriented antenna set up is not feasible
Man this thing can go really really far, specially in a wing or airplane. I´ve used theses long range AKK vtx and I can tell you it´s sick the distance they can go. Maybe people are so excited with dji and hd video that they don´t care about analog but I don´t know if hd vtx can do what analog vtx do, in terms of distance and not image quality
This review was quite disappointing. It provided very little insight into the product itself. The only clear takeaway was that it was mounted in the wrong frame and wired incorrectly for high power. Unfortunately, this left me with no valuable information about the product's performance or features. It feels like your heart wasn’t in this review, mate.
That's normal thing for some vtxs. You have a setting where you want it to be at minimum power when not armed and to go to the power you set when armed. Some vtxs will just glitch when arming. I remember some Happymodel vtxs were doing that, there are probably others. You can of course disable that in Betaflight. So I also don't understand why this is supposed to be a problem.
yup its got pit mode enabled on unarmed, only reasonb it disconnects with this one aposed to others... is because its likely runn off a completly separate power path thats isolated from the 5w

Hi Stew, Yep, Big Vtx is greatÿ. Especially for long-range wing flying. I have an AKK DOMINATOR V2 3w in my AR Wing Pro, I'm not sure what is happening with Steve's or your vtx, I have never had a problem with mine. Yes, we love flying them. Happy Flying Stew and Steve
@ did you use low power on disarm? I could imagine they use multiple pa‘s to reach a spread between 25 and 5000. so it could be they switch the pa‘s and thats why there is a short glitch
The most powerful analog VTX I have is the last one I bought before going digital DJI, which is the Rush Tank Solo 1.6w VTX. It's a very nice little VTX. Kind of weak by todays standards, BUT 5 Watts is not even double the distance for the 1.6w Solo.
According to google, rssi levels between -30 to -70 is considered excellent quality. I think you hit -29 at some point but most of your flight was within the excellent range.
Hi! There is an option on youtube that is enabled by default, its auto syncronisation for your video in different languages. Please turn it off, its replacing the video and audio with nonsense for example on a german client this video is just called "Alles vtx" which means "all vtx"
I have had 2 of the these but I was using them on a rock crawler the 1st got a little wet and it was toast. But the other seems to be working for now as long as I keep it dry.😊
I would like to shout out AKK on this one. When you click the link, they have a popup on the main page, saying NOT FOR SALE to countries at war. I appreciate the effort they have made to stay neutral, yet still innovate for the hobby!
Yeah, that's really a lot of effort!! It has nothing to do with legal troubles of course, just doing effort. It's like putting a "only for mature audience" on your movie. These guys are very tired in the evening from all the effort they're doing.🤣
@@SpaghettiFPV-tg3qh That is not on AKK tho. They could do what BLHeli did, and just fold, but they are still innovating, and making it known they want no part in that stuff.
@@ChainsawFPV its called grandstanding its what they are doing and thats fine , if they did sell to countries at war i would call them a sellout , im playing devils advocate theres no winning lol
i just saw apparently there's a mil spec version of betaflight that the Ukrainians fiddled with that lets you change frequency in the air and do all sorts of stuff with vtx's like this. Pretty fascinating.
Here's the comment I was looking for. With such a wide range of channels these are made so the pilot can bounce around channels mid flight and not get knocked out of the air.
First reaction is that if you are interested in really long range, and we already have elrs for control and now a vtx to match, you should get in and get some now before someone uses these things as a weapon and they will be banned and thus impossible to order.
Come on, despite hipocritical message on the company site, this thing is designed to be used in combat drones and is actively used in combat drones. What do you mean before someone uses it is as a weapon?
I don't think that vTX is made for drones I think it's more made for fixed wings that want to get out there I'd love to get my hands on a five-watt one and go start cruising the swamps on my fix swing planes makes it so much easier
If some one powered one of these up and carried it around in your pocket it would have enough power to disrupt the video feed to any fpv drone flying near you . 😉

It felt like you were forced to review this product. I hope you consider redoing it, as this isn’t up to your usual standard

image "quality" in analog is garbage.
Anything digital without a hard cap will outperform

That’s a Ukraine special big fella.
Cap between fc and vtx maybe?
Is there not a 10w too
Digital VTX also have a glitch when arming and disarming??? Why are you rambling about this for hours ?
I have never had this once. I hope you don't think this is normal. You deserve better vtx s if that is the case.

I mean if your gonna sellout.... do it classy like BOTGRANDER did lol
Like go WAYYY over the top stu
I remember one of my buddies showing up with the 1W AKK back then, he flew out 11km on a wing right away... xD
sad sad facts.
Some flight controllers don’t provide stable voltage to high-powered VTXs during startup.
Solution: Consider running the VTX off a dedicated BEC.
Military grade means made as cheaply as possible by the lowest bidder...
Ah, the gratitude. Okay, we'll stop sending you stuff, lol.

Funny, most of the kit out in the east conflict is AKK...
I have a few AKK DVR VTXs, 200mw is plenty for me. Thanks for the entertainment kind sir.. Enjoy the Breeze...👍🏻🍻👊🏻
These are for exceptionally long range Pilots like me who wants to fly from the United States to Canada and back across Lake Erie

This is entirely made for wartime FPV drones.
Wauw! Put a Yagi antenna on it and start your own TV broadcasting company :)
I thought only ham operators could use that wattage?
there are 2 options on exit if new freq chosen will change channel on reboot
Not all FPV is wizzy wizzy quads. Works great on long range fixed wing.
Bro they have an Alpha 16 now.
I have an ancient 35w 5.8ghz microwave video transmitter
Every time I hear "military grade" I automatically think it's shit. 😂
hahah
yea the cheapest option that was available is usually military grade haha

I don't think its for a quad. I think it's meant for a fixed wing.
Maybe a separate battery for the vtx

isnt the glitch just it switching from low power to 5 watt. DJI does the same. also if its consistently then its probably normal.

Your Vtx isn't getting stable power from your flight controller, just an fyi , happy holidays!!!
It's a fall back Frequency incase the one u are using has to much noise from other interference sources

I had nothing but blackout problems with the foxeer 2.5w reaper, I tried 3 of them....
I have seen 7W VTX already.
i need a vtx with 1.21 GIGGAWATS
Foxeer Reaper Infinity V2 5W 80CH VTx
its only ment to be a one way trip.
they cant even add in the us military
AKK 16W 4.9G-6G Ultra Wide Band 96CH VTX - Alpha 16
holy repeater!
crap useless video
i see this module in videos of Ukrainian drone workshops a lot.
But somehow, Russia can't figure out how to stop all these analog-vtx-equipped weaponized drones.
Amazing.
actually they stop them alot
your watching one side of the story
theres 2 sides
So why do they now use fiber optics? Just for shits and giggles?
