it struck me very quickly how much all these boys look similar, and how much they look very like Steven himself. Something very strange was going on in his mind. It was like killing himself through other people.
Interesting analysis
My thoughts exactly
No they don't, You just don't notice finer details and differentiate or something. They all look different from one another. . .
@@dickrichard626 idk maybe they look more different in places that are less ethnically diverse than here. Depends on what you're used to? I don't know
I still maintain they all look very similar
Doesn't change the fact that he's a monster, anyway, and all those wonderful boys deserved literally anything but this.
They deserved a life of love and peace and understanding
I strongly disagree, I have met some of the kindest most caring empathetic people who have went through the most horrific suffering. It's only certain people that want to inflict violence to others if they've suffered.
I was molested as a kid and I don’t go around killing people to take my anger out… some people just enjoy killing people
@@PickemMMA I was too for many years by my adoptive father…I hope you’ve found healing! I also have chosen to help people despite my pain instead of continue the cycle. It’s only logical and most of us are good people.
i was fostered at 15 had social workers from a young age, i never turned out like my mom, i learnt how not to be a like mother.
It takes two factors. Genetic predisposition and environment. I heard it said best as: Genetics load the gun, but the environment fires it". Some people are born with less empathy but a caring environment keeps those impulses in check. People born without psycopathic tendencies or other mental problems will naturally be more resistant to environmental influence. But genetics and environment together will create the perfect storm.
At this point he had two choices, to follow his family in violence and harm...or get away from it. He took the wrong road, and his family screwed him.
There was an excellent point briefly mentioned about the dismissal of teen boys who are missing that results in not checking for sex crimes and assuming other deviant behavior which helps people get away with crimes against them. Very specific, but if they took ALL missing kids seriously it wouldn’t be as big of an issue.
YES!
B6
It needs to be standard to check all missing person(s) from run away to prostitutes (might be harder to keep track of)
They can create a new section in the police department which handles minor missing cases, run away kids, to serious cases. At least it would help building up the evidence and clues which could prove to be crucial rather than say that person will come back/ or we can’t act unless a body is found
@@whitedragoness23 As much as I agree with you, a division like that would be constantly underfunded and overwhelmed. I'm not sure of the numbers but police probably get way too many missing cases to fully investigate each one with any kind of speed. I guess that work could be contracted out to another agency that specifically handles missing persons?
As for the OP in this thread, I definitely agree on that. It seems really strange how many kids go missing and aside from a small local effort, not enough resources are put into the case. Horrible stuff.
If we look into Marc Dutroux, we understand fully why missing children is not taken seriously.
England has its own turn of this. Rotherham.
The Catholic Church, etc.
There is a reason for the light weight excuses used when children is missing...
Growing up I always thought that monsters were scary creatures to only find out they are humans walking amongst us
Yup ...I met scarier people than monsters, I work in a certain criminal hospital in the Netherlands..the most scary part is some of these will get out again ..
Yes, for me, an indication of my psychological maturation was that I realized I had no reason to fear ghosts, aka dead people. It was the living ones who were the real villains of the piece.
Exactly Right
Exactly, i agree and they dont wear shirts that say im a pedophile, rapist or murderer, thats the scariest part. They look just like us and usually hiding behind being a productive member of society.
Amogus
Did anyone ever think he set the fires to also cover up any possible sexual abuse he did to the victims? I really feel he was trying to cover that up.
Me too!!!!. That's what I was thinking, as well. Some people in this world, makes it a scary place to exist in ..😢
The video does explicitly say this.
Yes
Of course he did...
I think every boy he killed were also homosexuals
Is this a joke? 3 bodies found burned and not deemed suspicious?
For real tho
lyndsey kelly seems like a truly wonderful person, I cant imagine the struggle they dealt with but im so glad shes willing to help the general public and their curiosity with her interviews. I sincerely wish her the best
The sister was absolutely correct. It was so irresponsible to assume these deaths were drug related.
Not really. Glue sniffing was rife during the 80's and early 90's. It would of been poor policing if they didn't at least consider solvant abuse.
@@Tinywars Were they supposed to have set themselves alight then?
Once again, the incompetence of the police reigns supreme. The police should be charged as accessory in at least 1 of these murders.
AND the pathologist...if people are strangled the hyoid bone is broken so they can tell by that! So very sad and hope the family finds peace 🙏
The police 🚔 are horrible
are you insane how did they do anything wrong didnt know police could read minds now there wasnt enoghe evidence agaisnt him so they have to realese him
@@theresarasche3173 your right BUT when a body is burnt that bone can also break and even shatter (or so I’ve read)
If it was mean tweets or political "wrong think" the police would pull out all stops murder however just isn't high in their prioritys
No reason to see these as suspicious? Are you for real??? Three in three months!
Exactly. The police officers involved in this should be fired. Why would they dismiss the death of a teenage boy as a drug death? Have they never heard of a post mortem exam? They'd have found out he was strangled. Idiots! And the UK prison sentences are a joke. "Three life sentences" will probably end up more like 12 years!
Right?! They wanted to just dismiss it because they didn't want to do the work. It sounds more like they were trying to find a reason to just dismiss cases so their workload wouldn't have been so heavy. Incompetence!
@@billyboycinci AND the medical examiners! How do you miss ALL the signs in three separate victims?
They must be really behind in technology…
There are so many comments hear saying they should stop ‘excusing’ the behaviour but they’re not excusing or rationalising it, they’re EXPLAINING why he ended up becoming a serial killer.
Amen! Thank you! Drives me crazy how bad these comments are on here. Most people are literally dumb and can’t think fully therefor put their own dumb comments on here. It’s all over on other video comments as well.
they are making excesses for the scum.
This program's title indicates it's about the killer. I agree that sometimes people's comments are just like, HUH? What? Really?
Some people are just weirdos. The real monsters are always human.
Aren't the weird people human too?

Thomas's sister, so lovely. Hope she's ok. I know you don't move on, you just learn to live in a different way
I used to work in a factory with an old fella who drove past one of the crime scenes in he’s van and was a suspect by the police they harassed him untill they found the real killer! Tony was a top bloke glad he didn’t get a false murder charge.
It's so annoying when in trail or investigating, if the methods of killing were different then they can't convict. It's absurd to think a serial killer would only kill the same way Everytime. A serial killer could kill differently every time and that should be obvious.
Lmfao obviously you haven't studied psychology, criminology, psychiatry or law to come up with such comment. it's not they can't convict it's just more difficult to complete the puzzle 🤦♀️
Well yes but it’s difficult to piece together that way like @moi moi said. Also, I believe that a serial killer usually has a “trademark” so to speak. This is obvious if you look at cases like Jack the Ripper (knife wounds, removal of organs, targeting prostitutes), James Fairweather (stabbing out the eyes), or Jeffery Dahmer (drugging victims, dissolving flesh with acid). It’s a psychological phenomenon which I can’t remember the name of but it’s how serial killers are tracked, usually. It gives the detectives a starting point which lets them find evidence, in theory of course.
Yep
Thomas Kelly had such a sweet face. The whole case was such a tragedy, worsened by the fact that the police really dropped the ball. Shameful.
35:12 She has a point, what was the gap he took from murdering his first victim, and waiting years to murder his next three, just to do the murders in the short span of 3 months.
It would be good to know what happened in that gap and what he was up to, if he murdered anyone else during that period.
That Dr. Elizabeth Yardly is lovely. I could probably just listen to her talk the whole episode
I’m so glad Emma Kenny hasn’t reared her head in any of these documentaries so far. So refreshing. 100% less annoying to watch.
- don't forget that Wilson bloke & the Yardley woman . All intensely annoying

@@pyewackett5 what i find irritating about Elizabeth Yardley is she always states the bloody obvious , like we are thick as a plank of wood
She has a bad case of "Tabloid Brain"
@sims and stuff I find all the so-called experts to be the same. 90% just their opinions and the obvious. This show would be much better if they cut down these interviews and covered the cases in more detail.
I have a great ammount of empathy for the poor 14 year old schoolboy............At the age of 14 (with the stepmother from hell) I ran away from home I was very naive and was hitchiking from leeds to colechester to go to my auntie. At a place called haverhill I was given a lift by a gentleman in a morris minor. After a while in a small country lane he reached into the glovebox took out a penknife put it to my throat and told me to take my trousers down.........Well I had no comprehension of peadophiles, child murderers so I had no idea of what danger I was in.So I started to cry crockodile tears Then he got a little more aggressive and I started to cry for real..........He then said GET OUT so I opened the door and got out and asked for my rucksack. He got out and opened the boot and threw the rucksack at me and drove off.I wandered down the lane and saw a light at a junction there was a car showroom/garrage.I stood there for a while and a police car pulled up and asked me what I was doing .I said I was on my way to see my auntie. They took me to the police station and bought me fish and chips phoned my aunt who later collected me.What I have to say is I never told the police my aunt or my father ...I think it might have been his first time and I was bloody lucky. I am sure he might have tried again. Why did I not say anything? I felt ashamed and did not think that I would be believed.
The police interviewed the murderer in connection with each of the murders, but never made charges after doing so. Also, the pathologists overlooked some evidence on the - admittedly - charred bodies of the victims. This case reminds me a bit about Peter Sutcliffe‘s (the Yorkshire Ripper) who was also on the police‘s radar several times before he was caught and charged.
I lived in Sunderland from 1989 to 1994, great town but I remember well these deaths, so many people were killed in just a few years, horrific.
I've seen a few of these documentaries now, and noticed Dr Elizabeth Yardley always says the same things in all of them; It was about power, it was about control, it was all about them etc.
Maybe all serial killers are the same, but I feel she could have varied the script a bit!
You know, even if she wants to, if the Producers want her to say the same thing in every episode, then that is what she has to say.
Empathy is the ability to see life through the eyes of another person, and those who suffer in childhood usually have empathy, recognizing the distress in others.
Thanks for telling us that
Little-known fact.
gosh it seems like if theres a gap they just havent found those victims yet...how awful
Every time these people do a disturbing murder, which is pretty often if you watch a lot of true crime, they get excused or blame it on some oppression.
Could it be that they are just more likely to be a weird killer and that's why the were historically shunned?
Nothing is an excuse for repeating behaviour and murder! Not even a bad childhood
I totally agree not all child that had a bad childhood becomes a killer.. no excuse
Agree. I had a horrific childhood with abuse in ways a normal person can't imagine...I became a nurse. My thoughts were I could use my experiences and pain to emphasize and heal others as I healed myself.
Noones saying that as an excuse. Its a reason. There is no nature OR nuture. There has to be the right combination of bad childhood and born without coping skills to overcome adversity. Only by finding the real reasons why these perps turn out this way can we ever hope to prevent them from being created in the first place
Missed the point
Wtf he was brought to Supreme Court for taking one nail out of a package ?!?!??
Not Supreme Court; pay attention.
I never understand why someone would want to kill children.

Stop using bad childhood as an explanation or possible explanation, it’s a choice they make!!! Most of those who grew up in abusive family relations, would never ever think of trying to hurt anyone, not a single living being.

His letter asking for forgiveness is taunting . “ I know I ruined your family’s life” that’s a lot of power and sociopaths are all about control.

My opinion is that there is nothing to cause a person to do this other than they just think that they are above the law. And through this terrible nightmare I have met many other mums and dads that are going through the pain of police neglect and laziness, and total unprofessional conduct.

I sure wish the police took this seriously! Of course the courts would of let him off even if it's murder unfortunately.
What are you talking about? He got 4 life sentences.
Weird that Greivson murdered Grieff & caused grief.
Dr Elizabeth Yardley seems to be sometimes almost smiling but not quite.
I think she's right about him just wanting to get back into the spotlight. He went to court for stealing a single nail..?
Apology not enough. Charge and imprison them for accessory after the fact.

I'm sorry, but all three pathologists and the cops missed him THREE TIMES? That's downright incompetence. How f*cking stupid to you have to be to see that in all 3 cases, one person is the common thread? No, that was outright incompetence and I'd have wanted someone's head for that crap. This makes me furious! The cops made it possible to kill people who would have otherwise been alive had he been picked up! They didn't value these boys because they were working class!
You are so wrong and uninformed. You probably weren't alive for the Hindley/Brady murders but every person involved was working class. It changed the way children were allowed to play, Britain wasn't used to serial murders until that terrible episode. Most police are working class or close. They don't want children or any person murdered. The perpetrator should always do natural life to protect the public from them. With the marvel of DNA the police have a headstart on a crime that never would have been solved in so many cases. I think different branches of the police now work together instead of being in competition.
