I agree I can’t believe some European countries and Canada for giving 25 years (they call it life) and then they are paroled them after 10-17 years. For this exact brutal crime he would have gotten the death penalty in Florida or Texas, in other states in the US he would have gotten life without the possibility of parole even if he would be a great prisoner.

@@rationallyruby maximum determinate sentence is a life sentence with a 25-year parole ineligibility period. For offences committed prior to 2 December 2011 all life sentences and related parole ineligibility periods are served concurrently (at the same time). In cases of multiple murder, where the offence occurred after 2 December 2011 (the date new legislation came into force), a court may, after considering any jury recommendation, order consecutive parole ineligibility periods for each murder. There are also options for an indeterminate sentence. There is no death penalty in Canada, making life imprisonment the most severe punishment to be imposed in the country.[1]
It looks to be an option not a rule. Only fairly recently allowed. It is encouraging to see the broadening of sentences! That is a step in the right direction.

I watched another story about this killer. He attacked a male friend with a hammer as well, and even went to the hospital allegedly with the intent to kill his friend. Hospital security made him leave. But the friend started wondering if "levi" was a killer because of girls being attacked in locations where this man frequently was. Also in the other program police are wondering if a young girl killed a few years earlier might not have been a victim as well. It was also brought up that "levi" worked at a car dealership, and had connections with a car crushing company. The man who had lent him his red car was told the car had been stolen, but was probably crushed to destroy evidence. My question is did the police find the hammer? The other program also stated that he worked at a bar (?) That young girls frequently went to. 5 or 6 girls were raped but could not remember the details as they has been drugged. I am thankful that the ex went to the police with her suspicions. Many have criticized her for not reporting him sooner, but I don't think it was until the news of the white van did it click that it was possibly him.

Do they deserve to live their life whilst depriving their victims theirs?. My other thought is that the punishment should also work as a deterrent.

Most prisoners are used for slave labor which is how our megacorporations like Walmart and Whole Foods stay open....this is why we have so many in jail. We need the labor.
Idk why you think we are more lax than GB when we literally have more prisoners than even those with much larger populations. Not even "Communist China" who has only half the amount of incarcerated and a VERY strict reputation with way WAY more citizens and CCTV everywhere... the facts just don't add up to your perception. 🤷🏾‍♀️

When will women realize this is NOT how a man shows his love for you? A man that loves you will not hit, slap, bite, threaten, punch, or kick you (among others). It doesn’t matter if you made the bed wrong, burnt dinner, or were too loud while he was sleeping. It shouldn’t matter if the serial killer is in a quaint town or council estates! It should be treated the same! I’m surprised at that remark. Maybe I misunderstood it, I don’t know.

unfortunately, many times it is not the woman's fault and sometimes even beyond their own control... if they grew up around an abusive environment (ex. around abusive parents), that will be the only type of love that they know. And to make it worse, if they have had past abusive relationships, they start to believe this is the only love that they deserve. Another reason could be the amount of manipulation (there are many forms of manipulation) that the man had pressed upon her, and using it to take advantage of her. It truly is sad that this is the reality for some women.
