I have a severe case of CPTSD, 3 years after I was kicked out of college. It's another battle entirely trying to convince people that this condition is valid and really bad.

Questionnaire needs some more explaining especially some of the abbreviations.

If you're seeing more C-PTSD, surely the current DSM PTSD diagnostic criteria are becoming a hindrance to accurate diagnosis? Aren't we getting caught up in box-ticking instead of letting the actual reflection of the condition come first?

Hi Dr Giacomucci, and thanks for your clear and interesting videos. Clients with disturbances in self-organization only, i.e. without the 3 original symptom clusters of classic PTSD, should be allowed in the future to meet a cPTSD diagnosis in your opinion ? Or maybe a new diagnosis should be created. Or they don't really need a diagnosis...

Very interesting question. Huh. I think without the 3 symptom clusters of PTSD, it is no longer ‘traumatic stress’ but instead only DSO - disturbances in self organization. I think by itself, the 3 DSO clusters (difficulty with emotion, relationship, and self image) is too broad to be its own diagnosis. It seems that nearly every mental health disorder would cause disturbances in those three areas. Nevertheless, I do support cptsd being recognized as a diagnosis with the 6 symptom clusters outlined by WHO

I think we still have to see a doctor

I think it is possible without a therapist but will be much more difficult. Some type of help will usually be necessary

I guess it depends on the person. If you are willing to educate yourself by reading and watching the more professional content and accept that It’s a long process then sure.

I’ve recently become aware of CPTSD and reading about it felt like “ who had a camera on me all my life”. I currently have a dx of bipolar disorder (for 2 years) and it has never clicked nor have the treatments proved effective except daily duloxetine. I’ve been searching for a discussion with professionals and treatment if appropriate with little success. Your video has given me greater insight and renewed motivation to continue to seek help. It is the most informative and well presented of anything I have yet come across - thank you! If you have any suggestions for finding treatment that would be wonderful. Again, thank you!

I received information from you that I think was a reply in my phone’s notification but when I tried to open it it disappeared. I am 71 and not terribly computer literate. Is there any chance of getting that again? Thank you either way!
