If anyone has a similar problem, you need to use a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter without a DAC.

@@sony4ever93nyc3 Its a Digital to Analog Converter, the chip that converts bits into waves. An adapter with a DAC will have that chip inside, one without will just be wires.

Did you need to do that tiny wire because you changed the port or because you broke something?

Have you tried doing the headphone jack along with the usbc? I’ve done both mods separately and both work great. Recently I tried with both and I couldn’t get good audio out of my headphone jack and I can only think to blame the usbc charging port. Maybe I need a usbc port that doesn’t offer the audio out? Could that interfere with the headphone jack mod? Hope that makes sense, Great video!

Since the charging port is the same in the original DS you may also do the same thing on it XD

Tbh, from the verrry little that I know .. ( I’m going to try a similar mod soon) you replaced the charging port …. So on a deeper level (what was that old charging port connected to in the first place?)
So if those pads were connected to (battery stuff) then ofc it wouldn’t work for sound
Now hear me out… that other port does certain things, like trading and connecting to other shiz… like the GameCube, so the other port can do certain stuff and this one can do charging . So replacing the charging port with a usb type C only really allows for charging with the type C ( Why? Cuz carrying 1 cable for everything is f****** amazing, but that means that out of all the connections in that type C available , the only ones fully working ON THAG PORT are the charging connections.)
I’m saying this because I’m looking on eBay 2024 and there are hdmi mods (idk if they work) but imma try it out. And those mods to port picture are an easy ribbon cable …… but to port sound it involves soldering to the , to send that signal to the mod motherboard, so to my amateur a** it means its sending the (sound) signal to the audio port but by you connecting the solder wires the same signal follows the wires, to the mod motherboard, and it the inteprits it to signal or sound (because the mod motherboard is designed to do so) and then you can output the sound …
I say this because I’m learning about type C and I’d love to carry 1 cable for everything, but unfortunately it’s more complicated than that… even with type C, but atm it’s a step in the right direction(I think,hope..)
Tell me if I’m wrong cuz I’m tryna learn how to break this stuff down.

The charging port on Gameboy SP's only does charging and sound which this type c port can do both with a type c to 3.5mm headphones adapter. The trading and stuff is done with the port beside it which wouldn't be worth making a different connector because then you'd have to mod everything you wanted to connect it with. As for HDMI mods I haven't looked into them so idk

The SP EXT2 port has 6 pins. A USB C port and cable has 24. More than enough to cover it. All you have to do is map the pins correctly. Stereo audio only needs 3 for left, right and ground.

I'm getting no continuity between my usb-c port to the 3.5mm on the other side. I tried my analog usb-c headphones too and no dice.
I bought it from funnyplaying, if that makes any difference

    Can this worked without em8?

Em8 is just a filter choke, you can bridge the connections and it'll work. I did this on my personal sp and it's working great.
