Glock 19 generation 3 is my EDC. It's also my overall favorite. I also have the Glock 26 generation 3. I'm probably gonna get another 19 to put back in my safe. Just in case they decide to discontinue them. They are the perfect firearm for me.
I got Glock 19 gen 3 also and Taurus PT 709 slim as back up. Like what you have, I also thinking of getting Glock 26 which will be a better back up because of the mag compatibility and less recoil compare to my Taurus.
Another Californian checking in here and yes gen 3 is all we can get...For what it's worth... (and it's not much as of now), if I could, I would buy the gen 4 and 5, if for nothing else...collectability. But I'm of the opinion that the reason the gen 3 is still made is not because of California, but because it's still a desirable pistol worldwide. Dare I say it's PERFECT?! Lol. Seriously, I suspect that the only reason they are not sold in different regions more is because Glock won't push it, and instead wants to push it's newer models because their market share is waning and it's more cost effective for them to phase it out..As competition heats up in the polymer world...that being said, Im buying up all the gen 3 models I can while I still can...in case Glock or California decides to pull the plug....So Ill have plenty of gen 3's on hand to meet demand...

I live in California, we can ONLY get gen 3 glocks in our state for sale. I have not heard anything from our gun stores that glock is going to stop furnishing the gen 3's anytime soon. So fingers crossed, we will be receiving new gen 3's for a long time to come!

The OEM slide plates have a steel insert molded into the plate. Be careful changing them out.. I did it on my gen4 30 &21 and it was the only time I had problems... upon further inspection the new plates were totally plastic (probably the issue)
I prefer the grip on the gen 3s. I put Talon rubberized on my 23 and Foxx rubberized on my 17. I did the .25 cent trigger job on both and put a smooth flat faced trigger on the 23 and I just truly love the way they shoot even more after all that. I put factory glock night sights on the 17 and meprolight night sights on the 23, both perform nice and I paid about $55 for both sets. Best part to me about the gen 3s is a complete OEM spring rebuild kit for either, including guide rod/spring assembly, is $22 on Ebay with free shipping. Means more for the 23 than the 17 since the .40 glocks "beat themselves up" and the 17s last forever. I've shot friends gen 4s and 5s and the only difference I felt was the recoil on the 23 was a little less snappy on the newer models, but no issue for me, and they also supposedly last longer before needing to replace the springs in the .40 models.

Bought my very first Glock about 3 months ago, outside of San Antonio. It's a Glock 19, Gen 3. Snagged it for $375. It only had 40 rounds ever put thru it when I got it. I've put 500 rounds thru it. I have 2 complaints. One, the finger grooves on the grip. I noticed for Gen 5 Glock decided to do away with those grooves. I can sand the grooves off, no prob. The other complaint, the ejections sometimes hit me too like they did you. I've had spent casings fly up and land between my glasses and my forehead, and singe my skin. One time a hot casing went down the front of my shirt and burned my chest a little. Another hit me in the forehead. Pisses me off!!! I hear there's a tweak for that issue. I can strip mine down and reassemble it in no time flat with the Glock tool. Easy weapon to break down and clean. Installed a stainless steel kit - 3 pins, slide release, and take down lever. SS looks good on black. Like chrome! Bought a Ghost Inc. 3.5 lb trigger kit with springs. Haven't installed it yet, but I'm gonna try it soon. I kinda want a Glock 17. But my 19 should make a good go to gun for home defense and EDC if needed.

Did some researching and decided to go with gen 3 model. Bought new year ago. Mine works perfect. I like the bigger recoil ring spring at the end. The gen 4s are a little thinner. On the gen 5 they beefed it up though. But I'm happy with gen 3. Its a proven design. And with single recoil spring I heard a lot more reliable in sand
Hey brother, a Glock is a Glock is a Glock. I have a couple gen 1 17’s a gen3 17 and 19 and 26, I also have three gen5’s. A 17, 19, and 45. These are just my 9mm glocks. I prefer the triggers on the gen5’s as well as the lack of finger groves. All that said all glocks work and all glocks are relevant. I also can’t feel any difference between the gen1-3 single spring recoil system vs the double spring for gen4 up. I never feel any less safe carrying on gen Glock over another, I just prefer the Gen5’s 19 and for the 17 I really like my new gen-1 reproduction model it is a hoot to shoot and makes a great range gun.

Bluddy Murdur I have 2 gen 3s. A 26 and 19. My 26 did that so I took to gunsmith and told him to replace it with older model extractor. It worked great after. But found out he only bent it. I called glock and they told me to send it in and they would fix it. So gotta send in

New Glock + range ammo = brass to face. Run Winchester NATO or any self defense ammo and you'll get stronger ejection to the right. Glocks are designed to handle a steady diet of +p. Or you can get a 15 lb Wolff recoil spring to use with weak target ammo. The 19 and 23 use the same lb recoil spring. Ejection on the 23 is noticeably stronger with the .40 round.
I've been using 124 and 147 grain ammo since this video and the ejection patterns have got much better.I've bought 200 rounds of Honardy +P rounds and plan to use them this coming weekend.Thanks for watching.
82 Luft We've only gotten 124 gr with Winchester NATO. Never a problem. No dirtier than any other range ammo. In our opinion, good ammo to break in a new pistol that's hot and cheap enough.

That's a very good question and thank you for asking.IMO the trigger pull and line of sight are the same to me.Right now i would go Gen 3 because of the availability of aftermarket parts if you choose to ad anything to them. Thanks for watching.
It's considered a compact but still a decent sized pistol.I would suggest going with the Gen 4 or 5 because they come with the back strap attachments that can make the grip bigger.
I can tell you this,having owned a Gen 4 and using a Gen 5,I still believe the gen 3 is still the best choice so you aren't missing anything special.Thanks for watching.

Have had mine since 2009. Zero probs, fires as good as it did in 09. Recently added grip tape , beaver tail and back plate that’s it.
It's a great to go weapon, its accurate no recoil fits perfect in hand, extremely light.

get a gen 4 ejector and replace your gen 3 one, the shells will stop ejecting back to you. i make that cheap simple upgrade on all my gen 3

Have seen more then one gen 4 with the larger ring crack. Makes sense, less steel means in general faster fatigue.
Here in Komiefornia we can only have up to Gen 3. That being said, I guess gen 3 is best for me haha.

I love my gun i can put it right where i aim on paper but i am getting hit by the brass at the range. Using remington umc 9mm in a glock 19 gen 3
