@abdoukane3836 no sir. I plasti dipped my chrome wheels 1.5 years ago, and wand wash/foam brush scrub them every week, on top of that they've dealt with 1 canadian winter, not one bit of peel. You could definitely start peeling a bit off with close up high pressure, or if you physically scraped it with intentions to remove the dip, but nah brother it'll hold up well past it's money's worth. When it goes bad, just touch up or clean off and redo.

I used plasti dip on my subarus wheels about 2 years ago and barely have any peeling. I've even had my tires changed since then. Now I'm using it on my emblems and its also held up great!

Sorry, I’m confused: why does the plastidip peel off the paint so easily, yet sick to the emblem letters so well? Did you prime the letters to promote adhesion? (I tried googling, but couldn’t find the answer)
I used to live in Tacoma boarders federalway. When fully dry it should hold up to car washes, people spray their rims all the time. Maybe try a small area and test it out before committing. I don’t use car washes, because I can’t. I do prefer touchless though. Lots of great touchless car washes in Washington.
It will hold up as long as you don’t get rock chips and do proper prep on the surface making sure it’s clean. A rock chip will compromise the paint and it will eventually start failing.
Did you not have to take a blade and trim around the letters? I didn't see you do that on the video. It appeared that you just pulled the plasti-dip off and it miraculously stayed on the lettering. Please advise...
hey How long do the plasti dip holds, one month 1 year ? after washing the car ?? does the plasti dip peals of because of the wather ? CHEERS from CROATIA 🥃
Actually I have done both already. I can’t go into regular car washes because of the ditch lights so I use touch less and there are no issues with that so far. On days when I wash at home I use my 2700psi greenworks pressure washer and shoot it point blank. No issues either
Because it’s going on in small coats and I’m not building up enough material between the gap from the logo and the vehicle, that is a weak spot where the plastidip will rip away cleanly. Don’t wait too long. A few minutes and you should start removing the plastidip.
So am I to understand that PLASTIDIP will only adhere to a CHROME finish? Also, the adhesion to the emblem is long lasting or does it begin to come off a year after?
It will adhere to any surface once the surface has been cleaned. Because there is a gap between the body of the vehicle and the emblem, it’s a breaking point for the weak bond of material in that area when not fully cured. So it breaks at that location. Once cured it lasts long assuming no nicks and dings. Mine is going on two years with no change to its appearance.
Not really. That would require significant structural change. Radiator support fenders and so on. Would be like $5000+ upgrade. The front ends are not similar in the slightest and are not direct swaps.
This is an awesome way to add a bit of a custom look to the vehicle. Will be picking up some Plasti-Dip. Did you use a razor or something to cut out the letters after you finished spraying it? Because it peeled off perfectly. Also, do you know if this can be used to protthe undercarriage from water/ salt to prevent rust?
Honestly if I did it again, probably would try the plastidip. Reason is that my plastidip has been on now for two years and looks like new. Since the window pillars are located on the side of the vehicle and not the front, very little damage will be happening from rock chips that would increase the likelihood of it peeling away. So for that reason I would definitely try the plastidip.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do you know if it's possible to Plasti Dip a roof box? Like a Thule or Yakima... I mean... how well will the stuff stay on?
You can plasti dip almost anything. It will hold up great as long as you are not being abrasive with it. Especially as a cover since it’s behind the truck, it won’t get chips which can possibly fail
Hey Yuriy...is there a way to touch up plastic silver trim piece on dash? Was told it was probably from hand sanitizer, bought it used and never noticed it until this past weekend?
i have a dodge charger and i want to black out the letters on the rear headlights, does the plastidip adhere differently to plastic? i’d like to try the peeling method but don’t want to accidentally have it get stuck
Yes it will adhere to just about any prepped and clean surface. You should not have issues removing it in the future. If you have a good consistent coating. If it’s blotchy and thin, you may have problems peeling it off later where it’s tearing and breaking instead of coming off as one piece.
It sticks to both but when you pull the overspray away, there is a gap between the emblem and the vehicle that probably acts as a breaking point because the coating is thinner there.
I finished all the coats then maybe 2 minutes and I was peeling it off. I was working on a hot day so the drying times will be different depending on the outside temp. But no more than 5 minutes for sure. You want it dry but not to dry. Needs to still be somewhat wet so that it can give way at the joints and sharpe corners.
Honestly plastidip is much easier than wrapping. However if it’s a large surface area you could end up with some overspray or uneven coatings if you are not experienced. The vinyl has its own issues as well. Overall great finish but more difficult, time consuming and you could get wrinkles if you don’t handle the material properly. Now I have done both and because my plastidip is on the rear of the truck it’s not exposed to the same torrential weathering like the vinyl does. I’ll maybe have to do a follow up video for you guys so you can see it up close and personal. So preference really goes down to how much time and effort you want to put into your piece. The quality comes down how well you can apply the material so both will look good if you do it right. Today I might go with plastidip first and if that failed vinyl. You can buy plastidip on matte, semi and high gloss finishes. So if you like that glossy black interior trim on the rtle and black edition ridgelines then that would be the route to go.
This is still on strong and literally like new. I even use a pressure washer when I wash my truck and I did a video with it a few inches away and not coming off. Preparation is key.
Why does the Plasti Dip remain on the emblem as you are pulling it away? As I'm watching you pull, I thought it would pull off of the emblem the same way that it is pulling off of the body panel. Would someone comment on this. It is a nice effect.
It’s most likely because the emblem is raised off the vehicle slightly so when you spray there is a small gap that is thinner than the rest. When you tear it away that area acts as a weak spot and tears there. My guess at least.
If I understand what you are asking, the Honda logo(if you have a Honda), can be easily removed just by pulling on it. It’s just held on by tabs. You can use a plastic pry tool to make it easier. Once removed it’s super easy to paint then. If it is not a Honda you have or if you do not want to remove the grill or logo, just tape off around the part you want to paint and leave a little room outside the part you will paint as well so you can peel off the access and have clean lines. Hope this makes sense.
It’s quite a bit of work. I don’t have a video for this on my channel. Cheapest, easiest and maybe best option is to upgrade speakers to higher quality ones that excel in the ranges you are looking for. In this case low frequency bass notes.
I waited no longer than 1-2 minutes between coats. You will see when it dries. I peeled it off maybe 3 minutes after final coat. You don’t want it to fully harden as it would make it more difficult to remove. You still want it soft. Since it’s quite elastic, sticks well together and you have built up a good layer it won’t tear on you easily.

Well I never to Georgia when I made the video but the rain and weather here is actually the same where I live. So been holding up very well.
I don't get it. Whow come the letters don't come out with the rest.
Is color just regular black?
No there are so many options.
I see this was 2 years ago. How's it holding up? If you had to remove it, is it hard to get off after it's been on there for some time?
This is still on strong and literally like new. I even use a pressure washer when I wash my truck and I did a video with it a few inches away and not coming off. Preparation is key.
@@YuriyMotso that's amazing. I've always been a bit dubious about using plasti dip in case it didn't last very long. Thanks for the feedback.
Great video. Looks awesome.
Question. How can I Plastidip an emblem that is in a black plastic grill?
Are you asking how to plastidip the grill assembly?
@@YuriyMotso No, just the emblem located in the grill.
What about washing your car later? Does it come off with washing? Thanks 🎉
Nope. I have a pressure washer test video on my channel you can see.
@@YuriyMotso thank you. I'll check it out. Appreciate the reply 🙏
What brand did you use? Where can I find it????
I have it linked in my description. 👍🏻
I’m about to do my truck this week how do you put a system
Put a system??
Sorry I meant like a car system
speakers subwoofers
It’s quite a bit of work. I don’t have a video for this on my channel. Cheapest, easiest and maybe best option is to upgrade speakers to higher quality ones that excel in the ranges you are looking for. In this case low frequency bass notes.
Hopefully I get 4 for 6 1/2
Hello Tezka, nice video thanks.
Your new subscriber.
How long to dry in between coats? And how long to dry before you peel it completely off?
I waited no longer than 1-2 minutes between coats. You will see when it dries. I peeled it off maybe 3 minutes after final coat. You don’t want it to fully harden as it would make it more difficult to remove. You still want it soft. Since it’s quite elastic, sticks well together and you have built up a good layer it won’t tear on you easily.
@YuriyMotso how's it hold up in car washes?
