To make masking off easier, I used a plastic painters drop cloth and just draped it over the entire trunk and rear bumper area and then just tore out the areas where the emblems are and taped it down. It worked great and provided complete overspray protection. I did my accord back in April and it turned out perfect.
One thing that will help eliminate texture is to put the plasti dip in a bucket of hot water to warm it up before you spray. It definitely helps it lay down better.
I used Hyperdip Piano Gloss black for my emblems. More expensive than the plastidip, but the finish is amazing. Nice shine and doesn't require glossifier.
I live in Michigan, and have used PlastiDip on my door handles, badges and lift gate handle. I had to redo my driver's door, but the rest are fine except for a slight 'dulling' or fading. I initially applied it in 2017, so well worth the money. If you don't like it, just peel it off. I believe I used 7 coats (no glossifier). Overspray is not difficult to remove, but additional masking is the way to go.
This is great, I had done mine a few days b4 you released this video. I should have used a toothpick like you did to remove the excess in the accord emblem, because I left a small paint chip inside the letters a and r because I used metal tweezers :.(
@@TheLemonFactor It turned out great. I only decided to plasti-dip the Accord emblem because I decided to go with a plastic cover for the H logo. I did this because I could get it in carbon fiber which matches the rest of my carbon fiber mods, and it is sort of a longer term and easier solution then plasti-dip. Congratulations on your new Accord 👍. Yes, I’m still enjoying the 2019 Honda Accord and have a ton of videos on the RUclips channel page that you might be interested in…
I’m thinking about getting a 2.0 turbo model. Do you have to idle the car 15-35 seconds before driving and same thing when you are done driving to cool down?
Random question, but does this stuff hold up if you go through an automated car wash? Didn't know if the water pressure would end up blasting most of the paint off or if it would hold up.
@@TheLemonFactor thanks for the quick reply and the info! I have to say that I love your channel. Of all the videos I've watched about upgrades and mods on the 2.0, your channel has been by far the best of them all. Everytime I have a new idea my first thought is, "I bet he's got a video on that too!" And most of the time, you do lol. Thanks for taking the time you have to make these videos. The info has been invaluable!
I believe I purchased mine from College Hills Honda, or Honda Automotive Parts. I do have an install video - checkout the Honda Accord playlist on the RUclips channel page.
Just another option, Honda makes OEM blacked out badges. I haven't done my Accord yet, but I did my Pilot. "Pilot - H - AWD" are all blacked out on the tailgate.
I have seen people just take these off with a pry tool. I would think it would be way safer to just take it off before you paint it. Ruining the paintjob on your car could potentially cost like... a lot
The Plast-Dip will not ruin your paint if you accidentally get some on it. If it happens, it will come right of with something like a clay bar, or even from rubbing with your finger. 👍
If you haven't... try SUPERWRAP. More glossy and more like paint finish than plastidip ruber finish. You don't need glossifier like the other one. Also very good on the wheels getsuperwrap.com
Nice video Chad! Like you said, it is not a permanent solution for the fact that it will not last more than a season. The sun and heat will degrade the aspect quickly but the good news is you still have the spray can and redo it again. For the ones who does car detailing or uses no-contact car wash... please avoid!!! I forgot the plasti-dipping and guess what happened :(
@@TheLemonFactor I didn't put glossifier on my emblems with plastidip and the Mazda emblem on the hood might be more in direct sun than the one in the front of an Honda accord. After 2 months, my kids made me realized that the emblem on the hood needs to be redone again. Unfortunately for the ones at the tail did not resist to the water presure. My bad on those ones! :(
I put plastidip on my rims and they have lasted 3 years now no damage. I sold the car to a Toyota dealership and even they did not peel it off they probably think it paint. They fade if u dont wash the right way with a rag or sponge because stuff will stick to the texture dimples especially on wheels once cured u can use a soft brush to scrub. The emblems will never have that issue so should be easy to maintain
You did a good job but this is in my opinion a Mickey Mouse way of doing it the best thing is to go into eBay purchase brand new emblems which are not that expensive and spray them with a satin black SEM trim paint, just make sure you using adhesion promoter beforehand
Must. It the black emblems!!! Why waste time and money with plastidip type applications! Looks like crap and flakes, fades, and peels. Accord is too nice for that.
It’s a Honda OEM accessory rear deck lid spoiler. I believe I purchased mine from College Hills Honda. I have a video on the channel page that provides details as well as the full install 👍

Interesting...will give this a shot on my San Marino 2.0t.

Does it peel off as easily ??

Wow, that’s great to hear that it’s lasting so long, especially in hi touch areas like the door handles - thanks for the feedback 👍😁
Maybe you should try hyperdip next . Apparently comes in different scenes and it's supposed to lay on a lot better than Plasti dip.
That’s what I’ve been hearing. Maybe I’ll grab some to see how it compares to Plasti Dip 🤷♂️
This is great, I had done mine a few days b4 you released this video. I should have used a toothpick like you did to remove the excess in the accord emblem, because I left a small paint chip inside the letters a and r because I used metal tweezers :.(
Except for the tweezer accident, how did it turn out?

Hi can you do another 0-60 test after your tune? I believe my family is getting an accord 2.0 and am looking forward to these mods!
As soon as I can 👍
Waiting to see more performance parts on accord. Catted down pipe? Mid pipe?
👍
Rv6 performance bro
I just bought the same car with 5k miles... Just curious how you're doing with the car... Do you still have it?

I’m thinking about getting a 2.0 turbo model. Do you have to idle the car 15-35 seconds before driving and same thing when you are done driving to cool down?
Although it wouldn’t hurt to let your car warm up on extremely cold days and your turbo to cool down after spirited use, it is not required.
Random question, but does this stuff hold up if you go through an automated car wash? Didn't know if the water pressure would end up blasting most of the paint off or if it would hold up.
It has held up very well, including pressure washers and automated car washes - granted, not that often, but there is no signs of it coming off 👍

So it’s been 2 years. Did the plastic dip hold up to rain and road debris?
Still like new! No signs of wear at all 👍
How long should you wait after finishing your last coat to take it off
Not long. It dries quite quickly (depending upon your environment) as soon as it does, maybe a couple hours, you can remove it. Good luck.
Over spray should come off easy with goo gone or isopropyl alcohol :)
I didn’t have any issues, but I’ve heard some that have. 🤷♂️
where did you get your black/white spoiler on the trunk
I believe I purchased mine from College Hills Honda, or Honda Automotive Parts. I do have an install video - checkout the Honda Accord playlist on the RUclips channel page.
I like that. Looks good. On my black honda I left the whole honda emblem plasti dip black
It has held over time and cleaning 👍
Did you use the primer when doing the emblems?
The video will show you exactly what was done.
@@TheLemonFactor oh okay I seen that I was just curious cause you left the primer link in bio thank you🤙🏽
Honestly, I just can’t remember as it’s been a while 🤔🤷♂️
Do you have any videos on installing tail lights?

Nice 👍🏾 I was wondering where did you get your front grille from?
College Hills Honda 👍

Plsss can u tell me if I can place Garret g25 550 in accord 2021 1.5 T
Have you done any rims with this? Ty
I personally have not, but my neighbor has on his truck 👍
Do u need the glossifier?
Only if you want a little shine 👍
what did you use to get in between the letters in logo ? it doesn’t look like tape
I used a pin and tweezer’s 😬. However, I don’t recommend it as you run the risk of scratching the paint
@@TheLemonFactor no when you were peeling off and the letter were staying on. was that the plasti dip? or some type of cover?
That’s the Plasti-Dip! It’s pretty amazing how it comes off cleanly like that. 👍
@@TheLemonFactor ohhhhh okay wasn’t sure if that plasti dip damages the paint or not thank you!
👍
You have to remember that with Plasti dip you will get a matte black finish instead of a glossy black so just make sure you're okay with that.
If you haven't... try SUPERWRAP. More glossy and more like paint finish than plastidip ruber finish. You don't need glossifier like the other one. Also very good on the wheels getsuperwrap.com
The Glossifier was supposed to add the gloss, but I had limited success.
@@TheLemonFactor I saw some guys using 2K clear coat to get maximum gloss?
What did you put inside the letters? I wanna do this to my accord but i don’t know how to get the precise shape of the letters.
Nothing it's plastic dip so when it dry spray becomes plastic and easy to remove
Looks good mr.Lemon!🍺🍺
Thank you, very much appreciated 😁
What did you use to get the plasti dip out of the letters (like inside the D)?
A safety pin to pick at it then a tooth pick. But be very careful as I could have easily scratched the paint.
Well done.
Thank you 👍😁
Just like Spray paint Goes everywhere People don’t realize how far overspray can travel For that reason alone completely cover vehicle regardless
Absolutely!

what about the front badge????

Dont buy plastidip from amazon for that cost. You can go to walmart and get for $8. Your welcome
Why not just take all the emblems off and do the process?
It’s easier and so much cheaper using the Plasti-dip
@@TheLemonFactor I was thinking removing the tabs for the inside trunk liner and popping out all the emblems and spraying them off the car. No?
That’s definitely an option 🤷♂️
