I did this over last weekend to the badging on my 2017 Ram 1500...blacked it out. I am all thumbs and very mistake prone. Plasti-dip basically takes the margin of error and throws it out the window. No precision tape up, easy to peal to get a perfect line, and if I were to have made an error, it can be removed completely to retry. It was easy, I didn't need to. I followed the instructions and it was pretty easy as well. The tape up, while not precision was probably the most tedious part. Not hard...but labor intensive. I also recommend a mask...dip is super toxic smelling. Overall, I took my time and an accident prone guy like me made a perfect looking finish product. Thanks for this video. Next up...my wheels.
@@TsGhosty I plasti dipped my rims last and bumpers last fall (I live in northern Michigan, ie snow, salt etc) and they survived the winter no problem. No peeling or anything
Rotwang72 i did my rear bumper today and waited and waited an hour for the several coats to dry and the dip would not peel off, i don't know if maybe i didn't wait long enough or what
Fronzi I just did this to my grill and back emblems and they look great. I want to add that I used pieces of masking tap to pick up the extra unwanted plasti dip around the emblems and it came up like a charm. Following your tutorial I did about 1 medium coat and 5 heavy coats with the spray attachment and it looks so good I can’t wait to see it in the day time. It got dark really quickly.
These dip your car vids have always been so dope watching these for years always comimg back to these old videos finally having my own car not being able to.afford the whole dip your car paints for my car but im glad to see you come this far with your company man
xBALLINx9800 I want to do my Jeep XJ's wheels, but the paint is peeling on them from the last idiot that hit them with a rattle can so i don't think the plastidip will stick well.
the differences between this video and your 2015 emblem video are amazing. really shows how far the company and product lines have come. anyone watching this, i highly recommend watching their newest video instead
I plasti dipped part of the rear of my vehicle today. I usually have no luck doing anything new! I watched and listened carefully to the instructions this gentleman gave in this video and I had absolutely no problem.
A tip on using the flathead: Spray some layers of plastidip on it and use it as your plastidip remover. It wont damage the clearcoat underneith as much.
Wow, best video yet showing with simple tools how to grab-away at intricate edges and sections slowly. You schooled me damn good! Cannot wait to go at this on my car's old chipping hard-plastic window stripping. First, I got to cut stripping half-back for a straight edge that's currently hanging-over an unfilled trench alongside front & back windshield edges, then fill trench with a filler like some durable Lock-Tite black Masonry caulking for the Plasti-Dip to set on top covering it all up and even.
Thanks for all the awesome videos you've posted up! Very helpful I just plasti dipped the emblems, grille, mirrors, and bumpers to my dad's 1986 Mazda B2000 and he loves it! Truck looks 10 years newer.. not bad for a first time all I've done is watch enough of your videos to learn how to plasti dip at home.. Thanks again Fonzie!
Great vid, but I would suggest not using metal tools with regards to removing remaining pieces of the dip from in between the letters in the emblem for example. Use a wooden, or a plastic one at least, never a metal one, as the material of which the laquer is made should be harder or more "immune" to what you would do with your tool. Thus, the softer the tool, the less damage you can possibly make to your actual paint job. Loved the final effect though! Didn't actually imagine it would be so easy putting it on my ride!
Thank you so much for the video. I messed up the first time and because of your video I see we're I went wrong at. I got more confidence now on how to do it right now.
wow you're great...thank you so much for all the info: it's really helpful. I'm going to plasti dip my SRT8 charger. i have silver but i want it matte black.
Thank you so much for this video! I just plasti dipped my chrome spoiler on my G37 and it came out really good, not perfect but your video gave me the confidence to do it myself, Thanks!!!!! :D
That's pretty cool. I've wanted to black-out the chrome lettering for a long time, but didn't want to spend a whole weekend trying to paint the letters. The tooth-pick end of a flosser would probably be perfect for pulling up plasti-dip from the inside of letters.
Thank you for showing how to remove the overspray with the microfiber towel. That's one thing I hadn't seen in any of the videos I've watched. Now I feel more confident in doing my Charger

Did the same on my model 3 with your tips. Looks amazing 😍 thx for sharing ✌️
Here's an idea. Place a small piece of electrical tape over the screwdriver tips edge to better protect your paint job. Or better yet invest $5 in a plastic automotive trim removal tool.
Just saw his calves. It's genetic, no matte how much you work them out, if thy have high muscle insertion they'll never look good. That's why a lot of Asian's have awesome calves. Genitally their calves have low insertion so they extend more down the leg.
I have learnt so much from your videos, Every time I watch another Plasti Dip channel, or a how to I automatically say to my self that they are doing it wrong, and come back to your channel. I'm a beginner but I feel like I know enough not to screw up my Dip. Thank you.
Great video tutorial Fonz, works great if apply it correctly. I'm doing the bmw for black out emblems look, I've already finished some interior gray plasti-dip, Keep it up!
+WoodenDrawers lol you sound mad at what i told the other guy. why are you on a plastidip video. but no i dont plastidip badges just chrome pieces. i sure can drive buddy im 21. everyone prefers their own styles doesnt mean me or you is right
I saw a Nissan drive past me with the silver dipped, and I was thinking it was just regular (but special) spray paint. THIS was unexpected and easier than I thought! I look forward to fixing mine up! Thanks!
just did the emblems, grill, and headlight housing on my G35. I taped off the emblems, but removed the grill and headlights (you have to bake them to get the lens covers off). Put them all back on last night. It looks siick! Great product!
Your vids have me hyped up. Got your wheel kit and some extra to do my grill coming. Can't wait to try it. If my skills are up to snuff, I'm gonna cover both of my bumpers and some side molding next. Maybe one day do the whole car 8-)
Great video and plasti dipped my wife's IS250 and re-doing my 15 Tahoe today...if you are thinking about dipping your trim/emblems afterwards and you are waxing your ride make sure you don't get wax on those areas because you'll get a white film you can't rub off
I just did my wheels and grill... I had the same thing. Make sure the weather is a little warm (garage) It will start out like that but as it dries it will smooth out. You really do have to take your time. Good luck
Just as good as a toothpick are the plastic pry tools that come with phone case replacements. They are small enough for the tiny spaces and being plastic wont require a steady hand like one would need with that screw driver. Looks great!

Hi!
It's easier if you just take the logos and chrome off and paint them instead of keeping them in the car, took me 30mins to do it this way
You should've showed the car at the end so we can see the finished look.
Thanks for this comment, i just slipped the video.
@@weejohnbb "I just slipped the video?" huh??
@@ThatOne77 haha, yup.
From an editing perspective, it would be great to pan over the finished work at least once at the end of the video.
I highly agree. I was like. I wanna see how it looks like.

Yep! I don't understand not showing the finished product well.
Prob had crap fuzzy edge hence not showing close up

I wonder how many people forgot to remove the cardboard?
I'm guessing you forgot the cardboard? lol.
I never did anything with plastidip hahaha. Just curious lol
Griff You should try it out bro. My father dipped his 2011 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali. He blacked it out, and it looks like a beast.
xBALLINx9800 I want to do my Jeep XJ's wheels, but the paint is peeling on them from the last idiot that hit them with a rattle can so i don't think the plastidip will stick well.

honestly pretty incredible to see how far you've come in 8 years
Toothpick works so much better than a screwdriver.
You should plastic dip screw driver, if your worried about scratching the paint.
Is that your s2k???

I dipped my handles and emblems on my 14 Accord today. Easy product to work with. One can did it all.
i dont even have a car , this is just so satisfying to watch lmao
I like to use a toothpick to get the plastidip out from within the logos and letters. You won't accidentally scratch the car paint underneath.

That's what I was thinking. I already have a plastic pick tool tho so I'll just use that lol
Why not plasti dip the screwdriver's tip?
Kristopher Tope that might rip off as well
Or just use a toothpick
Why do you skip leg day
everyday is arm day, do you even lift bro? lmfao

Not sure if you answered this, Can you Plasti Dip emblems on a previously Plasti Dipped car? Or would peeling the access product peel together?

How many bottles of the spray did you use for all this?
7 years late but I’m sure it only took 1 at most

Incredible tutorial. Thank you for your professional approach. Take Care.
What prevents the Plastidip from sticking to the car paint ?
Nothing, but your able to peel it.
Because it's a rubber coating not paint
