That really made a huge difference. BG makes awesome stuff. I was using their products back in early 90’s and they were the best you could get back then also.
I work for a Honda Dealership as a service writer and seen a demo done by BG at our shop and I always sold and recommended BG product!!! I always use BG 44k every 30k or so in the gas tank, BG MOA, and BG fuel system service with the mister
That’s why i either do my own oil changes with all Motorcraft parts and oil or I bring it to my trusted shop. I never trusted quick lube places. Heard nothing but bad things about them.
At this point (with the engine being neglected) it doesn't hurt to try this engine flush or any engine flush for that matter. Like you said, that engine is probably on borrowed time. At least (or hopefully) there's no more starvation of oil throughout the engine due to the sludge build up and it can last a bit longer. Great vid as always👍
Thats why i do my own oil changes. saves me ton of money and gives me the peace of mind of what went into my motor. and it usually takes 15 min to do it.
My Grandpa told me this story 50 years ago. In the 1930s, he drove Ford Model T Delivery Trucks. The Company he worked for was real regular about oil changes. When Detergent Motor Oils came out, the Company used it. The engines started using oil like crazy. Then it stopped. The oil cleaned out the sludge and varnish from those simple engines.
Very glad to see how an hour of dedication and the right materials can save an entire vehicle from the boneyard. Will the customer finally learn to stop every 4,000 miles and get a proper lube service?
That is why I do my own oil changes; I had a quick oil change place do one on my 99 F150 last year and it blew a head gasket a couple of months later. I’m not saying it was the shop’s fault, but I also didn’t do my due diligence. Seeing this vid makes me wonder now. Yes, the truck was old, and had 215,000 miles on it, but it ran fine. I did have a BG upper engine cleaning done by a shop that pushes BG products about 10 years ago when the engine was running crappy, and I can attest that BG is a superior product when it comes to over all drive train health especially in high mileage vehicles. The COMPLETE BG service is expensive, but it covers everything from the radiator to the brakes. I highly recommend this procedure!
Brother, thank you for another great video, And thank you from the folks at BG Products for giving us a shout out and a showing folks what the stuff can do!
I basically sell my stores whole bg product delivery every month. Products work great! I use them myself too and collect the coins from customers when I sell the 44k lol
Been working for BG for 5 years now. Great Company, great products and great customer service I just did this service at one of my Nissan Stores. It came worked beautifully
I'm old Skool, change oil at 3k, never understood trying to run plugs, transmission fluid and engine oil at higher miles. I have one vehicle serviced at Penn Quick Lube, filter is cartridge on top so I know they change it and the oil is bulk. Never had a problem with the guys that work there as they are attending an automotive Tech School. Other vehicles, heavy equipment and farm equipment I service in the shop, magic bullet is routine maintenance and the Amsoil guys, smoke and mirrors, never touch the stuff. Race car gets Brad Penn 😁
I'm the same way I get my oil changed done every 3k miles, get my differentials fluids checked, I check my plugs every spring and adjust the gap if needed, I also check each cylinder with an endoscope. My mechanic tells me for an engine with 200k miles it's really clean. My mechanic says I'm a little OCD about it he would hate to see me with a new car lol. We have fun
I found you from Rayman Rays channel..and yep BG is all he uses it does work he's done many videos it's what he chooses to use. Never a complaint about BG products
Been using BG in all my vehicles. I've got a 17 Jetta that still runs like in came off the lot with zero issues at 70k miles using BG epr, moa and 44k at every oil change. I'll swear by this stuff.
Every oil change wtf. There’s no need for that. Do you think about the atoms being scraped away on every part every revolution lol. Your oil has 7 parts per million of cylinder wall in them better go change em bud
This one left me not knowing if I should scratch my head or my butt. That did look like plastic from walmart bag or something of that sort. How on earth did it get there? The fact remains it was there and the BG flush did an excellent job on this engine. If I ever need to flush my engine I know what to do. Good in depth video Boss, thank you sir! 👍
Most of the time these quick lube places charge you for synthetic oil of the proper viscosity but what you actually get is non synthetic bulk 10w30 and half the time they don't even bother to change the filter. My wife was taking her mini Cooper to the dealer for oil changes until the turbo crapped out at 50k due to carbon build up in the oil, after that I started changing the oil myself using liqui-moli 5w40 and hengst brand filters every 5k and no more high carbon content. Never did figure out what exactly the dealership was doing different but I solved the problem. I think another issue is these oil life monitor deals and these 10-15k recommended change intervals, maybe if you are running amsoil or royal purple and some high dollar filter you may can go that long but on the run of the mill oil and filters you get at your average shop I think 5k is about as far as an oil change will safely go.
I don't work at a quick lube..but boss man makes us put our initials on the oil change sticker when I make it..everytime I print that sticker I start doing a checklist in my head haha
Yes u are correct 💯. I can't do my own so I do go to a locally owned quick lube but they give the option of bulk or bottled I been using Castrol GTX full synthetic in my 09 kia optima LX with the 2.4 and it has 105k on it ever since I've owned the car now 4 years I've taken it there. And I use shell V power 93 in it and nothing else no matter the price a gallon the extra you pay helps the life of the car..and it's no extra charge for the bottled oil than bulk!!
Watched a couple videos where the tech removed the oil pan before and after the BG Flush and man the engine's look virtually spotless inside. The bottom end looked cleaner then the top end where the valve covers were removed as well. But your right what a phenomenal product
The Porsche dealer used the small can of MOA and EPR on my Cayenne S. Didn't know until I saw it on the invoice. Gave it a Google and been using it since. Good stuff indeed.
This treatment was just done to my -06Avensis. Car behaves better as before. Didn't notice the lack of power or torque while driving. After this it feels much better
Thank god i watched this video. I will purchase this products when my truck is back from the dealership and give it an engine flush and shows results. Thank you rich, for some good reason you always seem to help me and. Weird how i think about it and then u have a video already posted up about it. Thank you for showing how to do it step by step.
I wonder if the plastic has come from the cover that you sometimes see on oil filters. Maybe a kid at the easy-lube joint just slapped the filter on without removing the plastic first?
I can't wait to run the BG Dynamic system through my '02 camry. Thankfully, it's not sludged up on the inside, but it's endured 250k mi of neglect & abuse from the previous owners. I'm planning on driving it for a very long time, And I'm looking forward to flushing out the engine. And seeing how much improvement the car gains from it. I'm going to run the flush system on my Mom's '06 highlander as well. I'm sure it will be a massive help to her car as well.
@@FordBossMe I have thought of that too, actually. I've had the car for the last 3yrs, and when I first bought the car, I replaced the radiator, belts, hoses, tires, PCV, valve cover gasket, Coil Packs, plugs, mass air flow sensor, wheel bearings, air filter, upper engine mount, coolant flush, brake fluid flush, oil & filter change, 3 ATF drain & fills driving 100mi. in between, and changing the transmission filter on the final drain & fill. Ever since I took care of everything, it's gained back most of it's performance. I change the oil & filter(pennzoil pure plus high mileage synthetic & Wix XP) every 5k mi., and it still drives extremely well: smooth & comfortable and dirt cheap to own. I love that old car😆😆😆
Honestly, I've been hesitant in using a flush on an older engine simply because removing the crud usually does more harm than good. The idea behind it is good but if the crud has been there for a while, certain parts are going to have an established wear pattern. With that being said, on a motor that's on the way out anyway, what can it hurt? Might buy some time or it might not. Hopefully it does, but I remain skeptical. I wouldn't plan any long trips in it. My advice to people who own cars is never ignore maintenance. Change the oil often. If the manual states 10k miles, do it at 5k. An engine has never quit working because the oil has been changed too often. Stay away from the "quick lube" outlets if at all possible. Good luck!
As many times as you've seen me do plushies on this channel and never had one single come back and never had one single issue do you really think your whole Theory with it doing more damage is accurate? A lot of people say that stuff because that's what we've been taught forever and just sometimes it does happen but as many times as I've done it and showing you guys but there's no adverse effects especially if you do it correctly What you need to do is flush the engine and go through multiple filters while you're doing it you cant just do it with one filter unless you're doing a basic flush
@@FordBossMe Cars and trucks are expensive enough as it is and to ensure you get your money's worth out of it, maintenence is the absolute key to ensure that happens. The average new car in my neighborhood is between $40k and $50k. That's serious money. I'd be hesitant to do a flush on my 17 year old GMC that has 160k miles, that has had regular maintenance, runs good and does knock or rattle. It's never been flushed but I've never let the oil go black...new oil and filter every 3000 miles. Would a flush do any harm? Probably not but why tempt fate. A bit of varnish can stay where it is. It's likely keeping some gaskets and seals intact. I can definitely see the benefits from flushing. I think it would be worthwhile to add this service to the maintenance schedule, every 30k miles on a brand new engine. Wouldn't hurt. But neglect and abuse you can't reverse...you just hope for the best. Great Channel! Thank you for posting these videos!
The construction of the Pronto filter does not look bad at all in this video, in fact it looks pretty decent quality. I would even venture to say that the build quality of that filter rivals the motorcraft. Silicone ADBV, plenty of pleats that are adequately spaced, spring (looks like a Wix Gold re-labeled). Unless there was media tearing. I would say the potential culprit would be the technician that may have removed a plastic wrapper on that filter and he popped the center hole and some of the plastic ripped off and fell into the main chamber of the filter when he installed it. What was the Oil change interval for the oil to get THAT BAD??? Interesting video as I have never seen the process for a flush before. Thank You for posting this.
Great video. Folks, if you didn't believe in it before, by now you should know to always change your oil and filter using good quality parts minimum every 5,000 miles. I've never been a fan of the extra long 10,000 mile or 20,000 mile drain intervals. If cost is an issue for you, then just go to Walmart and get a good quality Motorcraft oil filter for $3.97 and some good name brand oil (they even sell Motorcraft oil there) and change it yourself. It's too easy folks. With the low prices of oil and filters we have in this country (compared to other countries, especially in Europe) you simply cannot afford to skimp out on oil changes. It's being penny wise and pound foolish.
44K has to be one of the best things ever. im not for most any additives or fixes in a bottle so to speak but BG IS good stuff. i have used their products for a long time but this one i would have tried on more than one car if i knew about it. the last shop i was at didn't use their stuff.
i had a car that sat for so long the injectors were so bad it would barley idle on a couple cylinders. we put 44k in the tank and 30 minuets later it ran good.
10:26 yeah the quick lube took a filter with the plastic still on the top and just threw it on there. This is why I bring my car to the dealer and there’s only one technician that’s allowed to work on my vehicle.
Amazing the cleaning, one thing I would like to know does the cleaner expand or deteriorate seals _crank cam. If that could be tested soaked long term to show I'd be in on this even for just varnished engines.
all of our Explorer PPV's that are serviced by shop's must have a Ford Motorsport oil filter installed and full Synthetic. Some were caught using generic units and lost our account. We have vehicles with with 150K miles and 10k idle hours and they do not burn an ounce of fluid which is very impressive.
Watch Your Videos Quite Often Very Good. Concerned About The oil Pump Screen Like"Joe". Had The Same Problem On My 1984 Mercury 302, Years Ago,Had To Drop the Oil PAN And Clean The The Screen And Sump..
That’s why I don’t trust theses quick oil change places. I either do it myself or take it to Rainman Rays auto clinic .he’s like you very honest ,noledgeable, and dependable. Thanks for video Ford Boss
Hell yes! Always give us the BG videos. I need to get a channel going to see BG. I am addicted to the before and after. Did you ever do the towncar with it? I'd like to see the before and after on that beauty.
Re plastic in engine: I recently changed the valve cover gasket on my 2.4 Toyota. The gasket has 4 molded seals for the spark plug holes that are held in place by a wide strip that is molded to one side of the gasket. The "bridges" of gasket that hold the seals in place were brittle like glass and most of the bridges were gone...somewhere in the pan I hope.
My sister took her Trailblazer to one of these shops and a few miles down the road, the engine light came on. She’s not mechanically inclined and drove it back. Found out that they hand put engine oil in it. Needless to say, that shop paid for a replacement engine.
Did you watch the video? Because when I show the instructions and I'm reading off of it it says diesel engines can be flush with this kit instead of 3,000 RPMs you do them at 1,000 RPM
Excellent vid, as always. First used BG products on our 2015 Mustang GTPP. I only run BG gear and transmission oils on both our 18 GT350 and on the manual gearbox of our 2011 Mazda 3. I have the same EX Sport but a 2015 MY. Wondering if you can share some insight as to what is the BG part numbers for the trans, rear diff, and PTU. TBH, not a fan of MotorCrap oils. Appreciate you time!
The plastic looks like the protective seal used on qt bottles that fell in the oil fill at the quick lube. "Jake says why sweep up just drop it in here."
I have a 2012 Terrain 2.4L Ecotec with 175k miles. It uses a fair bit of oil. I'm considering doing a full BG service. Is there any risk in doing this to a high-mileage engine?
So I need some advice.... so I have a oil change scheduled for this week, can I put the EPR in and Rev the engine to 1,200 rpm 15 before I go into the shop. Then let them do the oil change and I can leave? 2014 chevy cruze ltz 1.4t
Old school guy here. There use to be concern with oil flushing that it dislodge gunk that would plug up small holes in hydraulic lifters causing problems? Still a concern?
I work at a quick lube and because of Ford’s lack of strict oil requirements like GM most customers just go with the conventional oil and cheapest filter we stock. Hyundai/Kia is the same way with how bad the engines sludge and carbon up with cheap oil on 3k+ intervals.
Ford Specifies to use a semi synthetic oil in all their manuals now so maybe older pre 2010 I can see what you are saying but jot after that Want to sell a better oil USE MY VIDEOS and explain why
I like using SeaFoam in the crankcase. Of course I do my own oil changes and don’t have to use any cleaning agent. I use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Extended Performance oil and a Mobil 1 oil filter.
I'm a little confused by your comment This was me demonstrating cleaning somebody's engine out there was super dirty and a severe case of neglect on maintenance
Seafoam wouldn't have cleaned this nowhere near as well as this it did, it's not as strong of an agent this is an industrial pipe cleaning application heavy duty cleaning application and seafoam it's just for general maintenance it's not really a heavy-duty cleaner it works over a long period Of time not a short time Nothing against you but I didn't quite understand what you were getting at with this particular situation in the video
@@FordBossMe I apologize the confusing comment so I’ll rephrase my comment. I change my own oil so I don’t have to deal with scamming quick lube places. And also in my opinion I use the best oil and oil filter out there ( Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Extended Performance Oil and Mobil 1 Extended Oil Filter ) so that my vehicle doesn’t have this problem. But as far as using the SeaFoam, anytime I buy a used vehicle, I put half a can of SeaFoam in the crankcase, a whole can through the throttle body, a whole can in the gas tank, and drive around until I’m low on gas and then I will change the oil and put fresh new oil in. Again I apologize about the confusing comment.
Yeah good thing you said in your opinion because that's not the best oil filter out there it's an extended oil filter and it does have more pleats but even the scientist girl herself from mobile commented on my mobile oil filter video and was saying that it was unfair that I was comparing a full synthetic filter like Fram Ultra synthetic to Mobil 1 extended because Mobil 1 extended performance is not even a synthetic filter
I've been told that running these engine flushes are really bad for the turbo's... thoughts? some say it's okay.. others say just run a good detergent oil and change every 2 months and it will clean over time... i'm dealing with the same issue on my f150 eco... regular oil changes and the inside looks like a tar pit.
Would you recommend doing the bg clean in a 91 civic with 238k just took valve cover off and everything is tarnished brown and black and some build up in corners and some blow by
I have a 2014 F150 with this engine and it runs pretty good, had misfire issues under heavy throttle which went away after a spark plug change. Currently at 114k miles. I want this engine to last as long as possible and part of me want to run this engine cleaner to get the engine in a nice clean state as well as I bought a catch can system for it. Any suggestions on running the BG treatment on an engine that runs well and is not in need of saving???
I'm wondering if I should use this, I have an 11 CR-V that I bought used. The engine has varnish on it; nothing's gone wrong with it, but considering that i could potentially clean the engine and get rid of that varnish layer is enticing..... 120K on the engine with little known of it's history, it was apparently taken care of; allot of the service done at dealer according to paperwork. The varnish isn't heavy but I had an 06 Focus with 120K on it (that this replaced) that I changed the oil every 5K no questions asked and was as clean as a whistle.
If you had a ticking sound and you're finding bits of plastic in the filters, you may have a busted guide somewhere inside. Hopefully not but you won't know till they drive it for a while. As a tech I've seen it all as well when it comes to piss poor maintenance.
Would you recommend using the engine cleaner with a perfectly running car or truck with over 200000km?Or just add some atf to the oil. Thanks for the great content
I have a 2017 Explorer with a 3.5 Twin-Turbo Ecoboost. It blows out blue smoke only on cold start-ups. The turbos have been replaced along with the PVC system replaced. Using oil as well. The engine has 115000 miles on it. No one has been able to tell me why I'm having this issue. I have changed the oil religiously and on schedule. Any thoughts? I have not been able to find anything online except for your video that makes any sense about other problems. Hopefully you have corrected others with this issue..
You could have valve seals that are starting to wear and on cold start leaks a little oil past the valve seals and then as it warms up everything expands and seals up or you could have oil control rings on the Pistons that are partially carboned up
I love the concept of the 3.5 ecboosts, but what concerns me about getting one is that there is even more concern if the previous owner knew about how much more critical maintenance was to a turbo GDI motor. It's not like I can just take apart the intake to see the what the carbon build up is on the valves and make sure that there is no sludge build up else where in the motor
You might be able to try a couple cans of the small stuff but if it was me I would honestly have to use the big kit because when you start burning that much oil you need some heavy heavy additive in there to clean all that out and typically when you get to 150 something miles and you're burning oil that bad if the chemical doesn't clean it all out and at least help you you're looking at a new short block which can run between 7 to $9,000
Do you have a choice of the weight of the flush oil? I run 5W20 full synthetic in my 2015 Chevy Spark with 85k. I'm super meticulous with my oil changes. I bought a little borescope that will Bluetooth into my iPhone. It's a badass little rig. I change my own oil. I Do Not trust ANY of those quick lube shops. Call me pessimistic but they could be pumping anything into your engine. All I have noticed with my camera is a tarnished look inside the engine. No clumps of anything. It's a caramel-colored coating everything I can see with my camera. btw, Thanks for the link on this filter cutting tool. I'm about to start forensically examining all my used filters. Cheers from Louisiana.
I gotta F150 with the 5.0 engine. I change engine oil and filter every 5k miles with full synthetic oil. My oil is never this dirty, but I got 115k miles. Would I benefit from doing this rinse kinda clean or is the basic can of EPR enough??? This is my first time hearing about BG products. Thanks
@@FordBossMe why would it be a bad idea to run it through a turbocharged engine? I have a 3.5 ecoboost that I’ve been lookin at flushing. I planned on using the the BG Dynamic engine restoration kit but Ford told me they stopped offering that kit because it damaged too many engines. The next best thing they said they could offer is the performance restoration kit with the MOA, 44K and EPR. So that’s why I ask. Sorry for the monologue.
I have a question,im no professional on engines. I had a sludge problem whit my engine and a friend of mine said that flushing it whit diesel whould clean it. I didn't do ot but is that a thing to try .
Yes diesel does help but it's not that great of an actual cleaner and it's a little bit easier on cleaning so if you're looking for a really deep cleaning it's not the best thing it does work though
the TOYOTA/LEXUS dealership that contracted my shop was told by their entire service department to get rid of the cheesy kerosene oil-filter flusher that accomplished little if anything other than rinsing hydraulic valve tappets and actuators, and that someday they'd be sued over the dang thing. 5-years later they were and lost and had to refund every 1 of their customer's money costing them bank and their reputation. Cleary the BG engineers came over on another boat id do this to anything i own.
so this retails for 350 ish usd... I have some larger engines that could stand to be cleaned out... 8.3 Cummins and some series 50 detroit engines and some John Deere grapple skidders with what ever engine they stuck in there.... some of these crankcase have capacities of 8+gallons.... the cost to treat these engines would be rather high for my pockets... kinda check to check most of the time... do they sell these in in larger volumes? or are there other products a guy could use ?.. I have used Marvel Mystery oil on my passenger cars... for ever... seems to keep the build-up at bay as far as I can tell.... keep the videos coming
When you use epr it doesn't work like regular engine flushes do it's so caustic that it actually melts the stuff that it's washing off so it doesn't block the pickup tube
My question is what has changed in the industry , what’s in the oil or the engineering on the engine that is causing this to happen ? When I was in the mechanic in the field I had a 79 Ford Bronco ran it to over 300 K before rebuilding it . Sometimes it seems the more we advance on computerized components we start lacking in the mechanical end of it .
More like quick lube shops selling customers on price. They should be able to refuse selling a customer a $29 conventional oil change when the vehicle calls for synthetic. I see it all the time at firestone and the like. But yes, the oil industry in America is a commodity. Stringent oil formulations like Amsoil, Schaefer’s, Motul, etc. cost $10/quart motor oil, which means you pay for $120 oil change. If auto manufacturers required 100% synthetic motor oil‘s they would see fewer oil related engine failures, but also fewer sales due to higher running cost.

That BG is good shit.
I think my ecoboost needs a clean, these direct injection engines need it.
GDI has nothing to do with it. Any engine will get sludged up, especially in the ring lands and oil control rings. This stuff really works well.
I would use a fine particle filter going forward. Pretty amazing how clean the final product was. Way to go!

The COMPLETE BG service is expensive, but it covers everything from the radiator to the brakes. I highly recommend this procedure!
Brother, thank you for another great video, And thank you from the folks at BG Products for giving us a shout out and a showing folks what the stuff can do!
I'm always talking about your BG products....it's the best stuff on the market... there's nothing better
I basically sell my stores whole bg product delivery every month. Products work great! I use them myself too and collect the coins from customers when I sell the 44k lol
Been working for BG for 5 years now. Great Company, great products and great customer service
I just did this service at one of my Nissan Stores.
We have fun
@@brutushobbies Sounds like me. I'm nuts with maintenance.
Nice stuff, BG is top notch , my old dealership had it
I found you from Rayman Rays channel..and yep BG is all he uses it does work he's done many videos it's what he chooses to use. Never a complaint about BG products
My wife has a 3.5 naturally aspirated . Good engine
I was thinking it could have been plastic from the oil bottle seal which fell into the oil fill point when the "quick lube" place did the oil changes.
No oh
Maybe try the smaller kit first and not such the big one like I used here
Ok and i just search up BG engine cleaner and they sell smaller bottles?
I’ve always just added a little atf with my oil and it works pretty good 😊
What does atf do?
Been running Schaeffers Supreme 9000 full synthetic in my 2019 Lincoln for 107k plus and it's immaculate on the inside. Runs quiet, like new.
SUPERB!!!! You are a Really good guy,,,,,keep it up!
Really enjoyed that I am looking at BG now to do a flush on my truck and my wife's car too thanks for the info
Ive seen Amsoil do the same thing; cleans gunk in an engine...amazing to see. BG is some great stuff for sure!!!
Aimsoil wouldn't even come close to this stuff
I've used both and B G is an industrial cleaner that is not even in the same ballpark as anything else
@@FordBossMe You’re right, I meant light stuff.
@@FordBossMe There’s a lot of mud information about doing “engine flushes”, but always good to see an expert show proof.
I wonder if the plastic has come from the cover that you sometimes see on oil filters. Maybe a kid at the easy-lube joint just slapped the filter on without removing the plastic first?
That's kinda what it looks like
I can't wait to run the BG Dynamic system through my '02 camry.
If everything is running g well why not do a few little small mini flushes?
Bg has small cans also on Amazon and Ebay of the BG MOA and the BG EPR
A lot of people say that stuff because that's what we've been taught forever and just sometimes it does happen but as many times as I've done it and showing you guys but there's no adverse effects especially if you do it correctly
What you need to do is flush the engine and go through multiple filters while you're doing it you cant just do it with one filter unless you're doing a basic flush
Maintenance is key indeed
Super cool, thanks for making this.
BG makes a great product!
i been using B g products in my 2005 g m c canyon ,had my truck for about 11 years and runs like a brand new truck using b g products
Amazing the cleaning, one thing I would like to know does the cleaner expand or deteriorate seals _crank cam. If that could be tested soaked long term to show I'd be in on this even for just varnished engines.
No
@@FordBossMe cheers!
all of our Explorer PPV's that are serviced by shop's must have a Ford Motorsport oil filter installed and full Synthetic. Some were caught using generic units and lost our account. We have vehicles with with 150K miles and 10k idle hours and they do not burn an ounce of fluid which is very impressive.
I used a similar product years ago and I plugged up the oil pump strainer with particles, had to pull the pan and clean out everything.
Yeah that doesn't happen with this stuff it's too strong it turns it into water basically
@@FordBossMe If that car had been up on a lift running at 3,000 RPM a plugged strainer could be very bad news.
You gotta wonder how long they were going between changes.... I do full synthetic changes in my 15 GT @5k intervals and the oil looks great...
Doesnt used oil smell fantastic?
Watch Your Videos Quite Often Very Good.
Concerned About The oil Pump Screen Like"Joe".
Had The Same Problem On My 1984 Mercury 302, Years Ago,Had To Drop the Oil PAN And Clean The The Screen And Sump..
That "plastic" material looks like the sealing material on oil bottles.
It kind of does
That's exactly what I was thinking.
Yes, it does, now you mention it. Bet the lube "tech" took a knife to cut the seal out, but let it drop into the engine with the oil. Sloppy.
Will definitely clog small passages.
Stupid owners do not completely rip them off the jugs and it probably did fall into the oil... so dumb
I run a small kitchen it from time to time never the big kit because it's a pretty clean motor
You are one bad ass mechanic
Thank You
Re plastic in engine: I recently changed the valve cover gasket on my 2.4 Toyota. The gasket has 4 molded seals for the spark plug holes that are held in place by a wide strip that is molded to one side of the gasket. The "bridges" of gasket that hold the seals in place were brittle like glass and most of the bridges were gone...somewhere in the pan I hope.
Bg needs to sponsor this man🤣
I agree
The original oil filter looked like chocolate syrup coming out lol.
My sister took her Trailblazer to one of these shops and a few miles down the road, the engine light came on. She’s not mechanically inclined and drove it back. Found out that they hand put engine oil in it. Needless to say, that shop paid for a replacement engine.
I'm not a huge car guy, but stuff like plastic in the engine is why I started doing stuff at my house. I'm even gonna grab a quick jack for convience.
I wonder if the old timing chain they had was wearing into the guides, shaving pieces of plastic off.
Fantastic video
Do you think marvel mystery oil can help with the oil sludge?
is any cleaning of the oil pickup screen needed?
You could use a bore scope and inspect to verify
Amazon sells cheap ones that work well
Thanks, did not know of the bg flush
Can only imagine the pieces of that plastic material that could be stuck on the pump screen.
Great video..Does it clean diesel engines as well as gasoline engines?
Considering the amount of times the oil had to be drained, there would probably be nothing left to clean afterwards.
Did you watch the video? Because when I show the instructions and I'm reading off of it it says diesel engines can be flush with this kit instead of 3,000 RPMs you do them at 1,000 RPM
Yes I read that part from the computer screen on the video. I was just asking if you personally have tried it on diesel engines?
Another great informative video 🇳🇿
BG is the best !!!
I have a 2012 Terrain 2.4L Ecotec with 175k miles. It uses a fair bit of oil. I'm considering doing a full BG service. Is there any risk in doing this to a high-mileage engine?
Nice video brother very interesting
Is it bad that half the enjoyment I get from your videos is how you deal with the commenters that give you shit?
Lol
@corey Babcock you ain't lying.
Does the BG engine cleaner clean coked up valves? Maybe check with a borescope if you find an opportunity? Thanks for another great video!!
I suppose the blowby could but lol....that's wishful thinking
It doesn't
Change your oil every 3000 miles or 3 months and you'll have no problems
They should send a sample to Blackstone Labs for analysis.
What do you use to cut the filter?
So I need some advice.... so I have a oil change scheduled for this week, can I put the EPR in and Rev the engine to 1,200 rpm 15 before I go into the shop. Then let them do the oil change and I can leave?
2014 chevy cruze ltz 1.4t
Yeah that's more than acceptable sorry I don't see all the comments that come through and I know this was from 6 months ago
Old school guy here. There use to be concern with oil flushing that it dislodge gunk that would plug up small holes in hydraulic lifters causing problems? Still a concern?
It's always going to be so concerned somewhat.... you have to use really strong chemicals
How does this product affect seals and gaskets??
I work at a quick lube and because of Ford’s lack of strict oil requirements like GM most customers just go with the conventional oil and cheapest filter we stock. Hyundai/Kia is the same way with how bad the engines sludge and carbon up with cheap oil on 3k+ intervals.
Ford Specifies to use a semi synthetic oil in all their manuals now so maybe older pre 2010 I can see what you are saying but jot after that
Want to sell a better oil USE MY VIDEOS and explain why
I'll make a video for the quick Lube places to use next week
I like using SeaFoam in the crankcase. Of course I do my own oil changes and don’t have to use any cleaning agent. I use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Extended Performance oil and a Mobil 1 oil filter.
I'm a little confused by your comment
This was me demonstrating cleaning somebody's engine out there was super dirty and a severe case of neglect on maintenance
Seafoam wouldn't have cleaned this nowhere near as well as this it did, it's not as strong of an agent this is an industrial pipe cleaning application heavy duty cleaning application and seafoam it's just for general maintenance it's not really a heavy-duty cleaner it works over a long period Of time not a short time
Nothing against you but I didn't quite understand what you were getting at with this particular situation in the video
Hello, that stuff works well ! Where can I buy this product in Canada ? thank you
Amazon here or a automotive service shop
Would you recommend doing the bg clean in a 91 civic with 238k just took valve cover off and everything is tarnished brown and black and some build up in corners and some blow by
It wouldn't really hurt anything you can do a small can instead of the big flush you can find them on Amazon
Start with a smaller basic flush
Amazon - 1 can Epr 1 can Moa
Thanks, I will.
The basic simple step kit yes
1 small can epr and a small can MOA found on Amazon
I have a 2017 Explorer with a 3.5 Twin-Turbo Ecoboost. It blows out blue smoke only on cold start-ups. The turbos have been replaced along with the PVC system replaced. Using oil as well. The engine has 115000 miles on it. No one has been able to tell me why I'm having this issue. I have changed the oil religiously and on schedule. Any thoughts? I have not been able to find anything online except for your video that makes any sense about other problems. Hopefully you have corrected others with this issue..
You could have valve seals that are starting to wear and on cold start leaks a little oil past the valve seals and then as it warms up everything expands and seals up or you could have oil control rings on the Pistons that are partially carboned up
WatchjrGo and velocity garage did a old Camaro....turned out great!
I've been doing this for years I even have a previous video with a 3.5 L ecoboost engine that was completely charged up doing this
I love the concept of the 3.5 ecboosts, but what concerns me about getting one is that there is even more concern if the previous owner knew about how much more critical maintenance was to a turbo GDI motor. It's not like I can just take apart the intake to see the what the carbon build up is on the valves and make sure that there is no sludge build up else where in the motor
I have a 08 Camry with 157,000 burns about a quart every 1200 miles would you recommend this system?? Or just buy the small can of epr and moa?
5w20 is fine or 5w30
? Would someone dropped a oil cap off a bottle and it got chewed up or was it more like plastic bag. Interesting.
Could be
THANK YOU!!!
Thanks
The basic small can is more than enough
Just be careful running it through turbocharged engines that may not be the best idea
7:16 I wish I could see down into my valve cover like that. My Toyota has some kind of grate or something over it that blocks your view.
Gonna buy some asap
I guess that Bg made certain that these flushes don't have a negative effect on seals and gaskets?
Yes that's correct, if they destroyed the gaskets they wouldn't be able to sell it to the public
I haven't seen any kits larger than these
Yeah I love m m o
How do you keep all that crap from blocking up the pick up tube?
