Dell studio 1558 disassembly and graphic chip repair.
Dusty heatsink causes overheating graphic chip and damage therefore cleaning is very important.
After replace chip temerature must be controlled and checked value. Otherwise chip will be damage soon.

and if the gpu works intermittently ( maybe its touch electric problem) can heat for somewhile fix that?

Hi,
I’d like to ask about processor of this computer: procesor is soldered or not. Is it possible to change it to more powerful ets i7? Because mine pc is with i3.

I have mine open right now, and CPU is not soldered. Turn the black flathead screw next to it half turn counter-clockwise and it will release. Keep in mind the BIOS would still need to support the chip. (You may not need this info anymore, but someone else might)

Wow, did that GPU heat pipe even terminate in heatsink fins, or did it just run alongside the fan? No wonder these had GPU failures!

Awesome video, haven't seen anyone replace a GPU chip in a long time, very well done.
i just got myself the i5 model with a bad GPU for 50 euros, hopefully an oven reflow will solve the problems.
Apparently it shows image but it gets more distorted the longer you keep the laptop on so the GPU is not dead completely. :)

ii) Where can I find such service center in India and how much it may cost to repair for the same problem?

I) I replace only for new one, it is true repair, no reballing. II) I don't know India market, it cost about $100-110

Ile kosztuje wymiana GPU w Dell 1555? Parę dni temu zaczął sypać artefaktami. Sprawdziłem na zewnętrznym monitorze i jest to samo. Nawet w biosie po kilkunastu sekundach się pojawiają. Czy płytę główną od 1557, 1558 da się zamontować w obudowie 1555?
