Sha Na Na was a fun time in my life. They made us feel happy. They helped us know we were important people and we could have fun without violence. I love them. .
I wasn't born until 1967, but I watched Happy Days and saw the movie "Grease." My late parents also told me stories about the '50s, and I even attended '50s parties at summer camp. They were fun!
These were the best times. This show and all the 70s shows were great. Today they teach our kids hateful stuff. No comparison then and now. Kids don't know our American history anymore.
Did you know that this show was aired for Latin America? We loved the show because of the songs and we didn't even understand them, that showed how attractive sha na na was for the rest of the world.
I love this! I think Johnny sounds pretty damn good with that voice! I remember getting Johnny and Billy Crystal mixed up. We watched Soap, and I thought Billy was Johnny. Now I look and Johnny and I realize Adam Ant kind of looks like him. Lol. Good looking. 😊
Thank you, Patty O'C for another great save. Although all the guys have their singing niches (Santini for Elvis, Denny for Sam Cooke, etc.) Johnny is, by far, their greatest balladeer. Vocally, he has it all - enough to make Frank Sinatra envious.
I see this is from a British airing . . . although the UK had their own Sha Na Na equivalents of first Showaddywaddy, then Darts . . . still, for pure theatrics, Sha Na Na has 'em all beat.
Only a couple of the shows were, not all of them about 90-92 of the 94 shows were recorded in America. I am trying to locate better copies so Donny (from the show) and I can get better quality ones out there.
I dislike camp, but this is brilliantly different, over the top tongue in cheek camp with superb vocals and great choreography that adds to the humour, That said, the humour somewhat disguises just how good they were, but I'll bet no one ever left their shows without feeling many times happier than when they came in. There's a lot of class behind the fun ;-)
I was in the military when this show was on TV. I was in special operations and traveled a lot, and thus did not get to watch all the time. I did enjoy watching it when I could. I just recently found all this good stuff on youtube. Is anyone still posting any of this stuff? Has there been any movement on getting the TV show released on DVD?
I think my parents must have been big fans because I remember singing along to these songs as a toddler. Seems like there was actually a show with it? Looks funny
Saw Sha na na in concert on late 70s. Magnificent!!! Always my favorite! Browser is so funny. Love all of you. God bless you all
I loved Sha Na Na! One of the best shows on TV! Wish it was still on.
I knew them at Columbia
i am sixty five, My Cleveland cousin got me hooked on this years ago . Canadian friend,
Say what you want about Sha Na Na, but Johnny has one helluva voice.
I never tire of watching this video ! This song truly epitomizes the feelings of the era and what a magical time it was in our lives ! 🥰🧑🏻🦰🇨🇦
The 1950s era or 1970s?
Cheers from 🍻 Milwaukee
@@Marcg-b4n 50’s thru to the 70’s. 60’s mostly!.😁 🧑🏻🦰🇨🇦 Cheers to you too!
@Mark.G475 The music from the 50s to the 80s was mostly very good. When songs had words you could make out and sing along to. ❤❤❤
These are fine and talented musicians!! What a time to be alive, I loved this show soooo much!!
Any performance by Johnny Contardo is always a class performance. His vocal is beyond comparison.he always gives his best
He looked like he was "slightly shaking his booty" when his behind was to the audience!
All pains melts away to the sound of that saxophone

.
They were 'all in', 'no holding back', 'right down both barrels'. They were soooo good. Johny Contardos voice is impossible.
🇺🇲🎶🎼🎵😎🤩👍
Sha na na love it from South Afrika
We still had a black/white TV then 😂😂
Love these guys, Bowser, Johnny and the man with many talents, Lenny.
I watched this in the 70s when I was a pre-teen. I had such a crush on Johnny. 😊
So did I and most of the girls in my friendship circle.😍
Ohhh Lenny, Bowzer!! Screaming Scott. My goodness where did the time go. The memories...😢
As a child, I remembered Johnny being the handsomest member of the group with a personality to match!
Oh I use to love watching this show. Loved the songs
50s was the best decade for music and cars
Yupper..

The music is from the 50s, Sha Na Na are from the 60s-70s.
They both had such unique voices, they were great voices for stage
I was a very young teen girl back then and Johnny was my crush.😍

Yes you're right
🎯
This is the best rendition I've ever heard
Johnny is on Facebook and still records new songs every week
I am in total agreement with you. Any rendition by Mr. Contardo is always the best. In fact l always preferred his rendition over the original
He also has his own RUclips Channel, and he's cooking!
Notes through the roof! WOW! 😮
Love this group ❤️❤️
Great group ❤️
I loved that show
Loved watching the show...was always fun....

Love this. Timeless performance.
First time seeing Contardo. Yes, he is great😊 one of best interpretations of that beautiful song.❤
Thank you, Patty O'C for another great save.

Contardo una de las mejores voces que he escuchado....se le extraña😢😢😢

I wish getting this show on DVD was possible!
Sadly It will not be available ever from the people who own the rights.
It is possible that I could put them on DVD, but I am still working on cleaning them up.
3:21 looks like Billy crystal.
I think my parents must have been big fans because I remember singing along to these songs as a toddler. Seems like there was actually a show with it? Looks funny
It was a show with BOTH comedy and variety - I laughed my head off!
Sha na na を観るのが日曜日の楽しみだったなぁ。
There is no one, I mean no one, that get beat this original team.
Show 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏!!!
❤️❤️❤️
I used to think Johnny Contardo was Billy Crystal
I was too young and naaive to know I was a fan of a gay extravaganda 🙂😂
Singing is pretty good, but those outfits are something else.
Pretty good? You have to be an outstanding singer to join the group! As for the outfits, that's how people dressed back in those days.
“Pretty good” is a criminally understated statement
LOL roadies wandering in the background.
Please , bring up the comment that I sent back in June ,(thank you ) , Ger J.
It should be there, if not RUclips took it down
I'm sorry SHA NA NA are far superior to Darts and Showaddy waddy
I simply fell in love with Johnny condardo and his singing. Bowzer isnt such a singer, terrible. Gross. Debbie Allen
❤❤❤
