@@ToyotaGuy1971 I take it you mean 1950s nostalgia being deader than disco. And the clean G rated humor of Sha Na Na being out of style in favor of F bombs, cynicism, snark-fests, and toilet humor?
I am 15 and I would definitely watch this if this was still on air it just brings you back to Good times where everything was just simpler you didn't have to worry about school shootings and the world getting blown up in a nuclear arms race
So if I am not mistaken...50s music was experiencing a fun come back ..Happy Days was part of that. American Graffiti was pretty cool . This show reminds me a little bit of Laugh In from the early 70s. Idk ,I just like it .😊
I miss these wonderful variety shows!! When I’m old and (probably) senile, I’ll still remember this show! I love music that makes me want to get up and boogie!
These men were in college..all studying music along with majors..they were so good..they were discovered and offered a TV show..the rest is history. This is a short history. But they were very well educated and intelligent unlike how this show portrayed them! Respect for SHA NA NA! Excellent voices and instrumental players! Great entertainers! 👍 🎵
Lennie, Chico, Dirty Dan, and Denny, sad to say, are no longer with us. I would love to see this series become available on DVD or blu-ray. However, my guess is that the money it would take to get copyright clearance on all the songs would be astronomical and, therefore, impractical.
And Bowzer, Santini and Johnny have gone their own ways (with Santini now a surgeon) . . . of the original members, only Donny and Jocko are still with Sha Na Na (Screamin' Scott, who's also still in the group, was a very early replacement).
I watched and was transported back to a day... a day of youth... innocence... tranquility... peace... The problems of childhood and teenaging were nowhere to be found... just my escape into their beautifully portrayed world where I didn't understand the deep nuances of the spoken word, or the emotion it took to write a song... just acceptance of something different to my turmoil... and it happened again... I, like you, would like the whole lot of all the episodes for free on youtube or on teevee again... What a blessing they were to me... to us... Probably still are and are going to be... :-}
For all you youngsters out there, the 1970s was a very trying time in this country. Vietnam war had ended, massive inflation, President Nixon being kicked out of office. So there was a very nostalgic look back to the 1950s. So we had shows like happy days and Lots of escapist TV like fantasy Island and the love boat. Of course it was all white washed, no mention of 1950s segregation or anything. But it was a happier time because TV can be a great Escape mechanism.
@@wesleycook7687 Yep isn't that the truth! And it was one of those shows that made you feel good inside. I can't remember watching a single episode and feeling sad.
OMG!! You just brought back the best memories for me!! When I was very very young this was on TV. When I was about 6 or 7 I used to watch this every time it came on. Love love love this music even to this day! Oddly these men went to the same college as my dad!! Columbia University in NYC. Anyhow, I remember, like it was yesterday needing a man to dance with. Where does a 6-year-old get a man? Well, you make one!! DUH!! I got an MDF board that stood up was my height, got out my markers, and proceeded to draw a me-sized image of my dad, 1970s afro and mustache included! Dad and mom caught me and were like, "What in the world?" I told them I needed a man so I made one like daddy so I could dance to the Sha Na Na music!! I've never forgotten that I can tell you and never will. Thanks for bringing back those memories. I wonder where my man went off to? Probably got burned in the stove!! LMAO!!
Omg, that would be awesome. If I were born 20 years before i was, I could've been able to grow up with the TV show. I love their music and would love to see them in concert someday, even though Bowzer and Johny are not with them anymore. It seems like it would be a hot show to go to, regardless of who's in it. This is coming from a 21-year-old college graduate! So yeah, let us know about DVD's!
I Loved Sha Na Na. So Happy My Dad and I got to Meet Bowser from Sha Na Na. Super Sweet Guy. We met him in October of 1996 on a Cruise. My Stepmom Took Pictures. I Lost my Set. Hopefully My Stepmom Still has the Originals. I Lost mine due to Divorce, and Not Being Able to Take Everyrhin with me when I was Evicted. 😡
Bowser's melodic bass on The Three Bells shows his range from deep bass to a more subdued operatic like voice. Denny sounds a lot like Clyde Macpatter on Lovers Question.
Great list of various parts! Each one was another memory coming back. When I was about 8, I had a AM/FM TV(6") battery operated gizmo that would put on far side of my bed so I could watch Sha-Na-Na though I was sposed to be asleep. Those were the days. Re-watching what thrilled me back then and watching current videos nowdays... kinda worried.
I love to see there's around and DVD and on RUclips more as full program I love Shawna as a kid and I still love them but I only see bits and pieces of the show with RUclips I wish they would be with the full show
I’m still waiting for the scene where they sing Good Night Sweetheart at the end of each show. I really miss the years Sha NA NA was on, the years of the SIMPLE LIFE, GOOD FOOD AND DRINKS without all the Poison garbage of today that makes all FAT AND UNHEALTHY, AND CRAZY 😜.

No gunshots, car crashes, murders. Just joy. Yippee.
There is no reason that these Sha Sha Na shows should not be rerun on tv. I am sure people would watch them!
There is a reason; just not a good one, _if_ you know what I mean.

They were wonderful. They even came to my home town. I'm 76 years old; and, they were singing the music we sang and danced to when I was young.
Thank you! This was one of my geeat joys from my childhood
I love shows like this I miss shanana
During a time of disco, this was the only outlet for many that hated disco, i myself like both, but Sha Na Na to a 4, 5 year old was just awesom

Oh, hell yeah! Bring on the DVDs
this was a fun time in the US. I remember well the resurgence of 50's style music and fashion. I was born in 1955 and I loved it!

And to have vocal legends on a show like this made it more entertaining.

It was my daughter's first concert also. She was about 2 or 3 years old. We never missed the TV show.

Absolutely the best group ever!
