    I will never get over how talented every one of the ladies from Band-Maid is. Thanks for another great breakdown, Wave. Growing up, I've always loved bass guitar. From funk to rock to pop to metal, I've always loved the sounds it could make. And because of my love for it, I always wanted to learn to play it but never got around to it. Leave it to Misa to push me over the edge. I recently picked up a moderately priced bass guitar and started to learn the basics. Maybe one day I can be okay enough to play some Band-Maid. If you ever read this Misa, thank you. You've inspired this old dog to learn a new trick.

    Prior to my discovery of Band Maid, I only paid attention to the lead guitars and the vocals when I listen to rock songs.
    Suffice to say, my whole music perspective got turned upside-down after I went down the pigeon hole, which has it's pros and cons.
    Loving this series you're doing on Manners ❤

    Great job as usual, Wave, always hearing and learning new things. Akane's unique approach to rhythm was one of the first things that attracted me to Band-Maid -- she just didn't fit into any boxes I was used to. And MISA, well, half the time I can't even follow her; which is why it's great to have someone point out what she is doing. She always seems to find the most interesting lines to spice up the songs and constantly keep you on the edge of your seat.

MISA is an absolutely amazing bass player, she does a lot of cool stuff all the time, she is one of the best bass players there is. It was an amazing experience to se what she does on the bass, damn she is good. MISA is my new inspiration in playing the bass 🙂

    it is often said that riyhm section (drum and base guitar) is important in any kind of music band,(I was in my old days playing drums), but basically rythm section is only the rythm part of music band. This was the real story for me. And only technic is important. So, as you made great breakdown, Misa's base guitar and AKANE's drum play is so surprising and amazing talented play.Misa and Akane are not only rythm player, they are making music sense and melody and groove etc. I was so happy that Misa and Akane are outstanding and attract attention in BANDMAID as well as KANAMI, MIKU, SAIKI. They are so beautiful Hard Rock band.

    I'm not sure this is true, but it is what I believe, so I'll call it MY truth. I've said similar things to you in the past. But you not only seem like a much happier person (musically at least), than you did 2 years ago, before the "discovery" of all female Japanese bands and musicians, that all started with the discovery of YOYOKA, and just exploded from there. I believe you listen to music much closer than you used to, and have discovered layers of talent, beats, riffs, fills, and highly complex compositions, than you ever thought even existed. Inspired by what you have heard, I find it truly amazing how your talents have grown as a result of all that, and that you can logically and systematically break something this complex down and explain it to other musicians in a simple way that they can understand and learn to play it themselves, if they choose. We are all grateful for what you do to entertain and educate us, and to promote the awesome musicians that you react to. I also believe that something you thought might have been nearly impossible to play a few years back, has become, what seemingly, looks like it's much easier for you to play now. THANKS!

    blows my mind how many folk only listen to this song on the surface. Even Champ was calling it "simplistic", and maybe for the guitars it's more basic, the but bass and drums? Fabulous. Hell, much as form now on is a 4 minute Mincho solo with support, Manners is 3* minutes of Misa going ham.

    As a non-musician, I really appreciate these breakdowns, excellent work! You highlight many things that I have _heard_ , but never really _noticed_ before in the song. It definitely helps me understand better why I like this song so much. At the end of this series are you also going to mention the backing tracks, with the two cool short snippets of brass section during the bridge after Kanami's solo? Just audible on the studio version, but much clearer in the live one.

    Misa apparently doesn't have the 'click' on her monitors, she uses Akane as hers (I heard that's one of the reasons she goes barefoot, so she can feel the kick and floor tomtoms through the stage) - often you'll hear her locking 16th-note runs and flourishes so tightly to Akane's double kick that they sound like a single instrument.

  • @Kissthetoad321
    @Kissthetoad321 Год назад +2

    First, being a fan of guitarists (Jimi Hendrix is my guitar hero) it was Mincho who attracted me to Band Maid. But little by little I realized that Akane and Misa were musicians with incredible talent. Since then, when I listen to a song, I try to focus on all three. But it's impossible given the sum of elements added by each of them. That's crazy. IMO, this is the best rock trio I've ever heard in my life though it's becoming a quartet. Sorry if I put the singers aside because they prevent me from hearing the instruments well. Maybe you can make a video just about them next time, because they deserve it just as much? Thanks Wave.

    Excellent, thanks for posting. Been listening to rock music since i was a kid in the 70s, Akane is the first drummer i cannot 'air drum' to. I tried but I gave up lol. She was the one that got my attention first when i first clicked on them. There is so much detail in what her and Misa do that makes Band Maid standout. As a hypothetical I wonder how Jimi would play if Mitch and Noel were replaced by Misa and Akane. I think the way Mincho plays is the answer to that.

    Just got home from the Hammerstein Ballroom show. It pains me to say it, but this was the most disappointing Band-Maid concert I've experienced. The ladies came out strong with "No God" and followed that up with "Domination". I'll admit that the next song, "Play" isn't a favorite of mine, not that it's a bad song, but I think they have better to choose from. After that, "Unleash!!!!!" and I thought that would set the tone for the rest of the show ("Emotion! Showtime!"). The next thing I know is that they're leaving without any explanation. And then some people come on stage and take their equipment away like it's being repo'd. Is Band-Maid on the run from debt collectors and that's why they left in a hurry? I can't say for sure.
    After that, these four other guys came out. They were okay.

    • @frankandre4385
      @frankandre4385 Год назад +1

      Seems a LONG way to travel for such an abbreviated show...But in these shows they are (sadly) window dressing for the main act. Maidiac reactions are understandable but not rooted in the MAIDS cultural reality. What's short-shrift to us is an honor for them.

    • @kurt9395
      @kurt9395 Год назад

      @@frankandre4385 All joking aside, and yes, my posting was a bit satirical, the point was that if you came there to see Band-Maid, you would've been disappointed and perhaps even pissed that they only got a total of 15 minutes of stage time. The temperature being in the single digits outside didn't help either if you waited on line. Not that TLRS was bad, they were very good, and I concede that most people were there to see them and have no idea who Band-Maid is.
      Going by what I could see from the balcony, a lot of people came in after Band-Maid had already left. I heard that they did 9 songs when they opened for G&R and I was hoping for about the same, so only 4 is a let-down. My take is that because of union rules, and NYC stage unions are very powerful, they couldn't start before 8PM and had to finish before 11PM. Given the show TLRS had planned out, that gave Band-Maid the short end. TLRS put on a great show, so I personally don't feel cheated, but disappointed that Band-Maid didn't get the exposure they deserve. What would've been great is if Band-Maid members could've shared the stage a little with TLRS. Perhaps Saiki doing a duet with Hyde or Kanami jamming it with Miyavi and Sugizo or Akane taking over on drums when Yoshiki moved over to piano. Maybe they'll get more stage time when they get to LA, so here's hoping.

      But what a bloody shame !!- Band Maid need to fire their bloody mangement orporation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      --WHY, why,,,,why did BandMaid allow their damn corporate managers to dictate??---This is what KILLED BabyMetal !----they just got more and more 'managed"....and more and more slickly commercial......and less of what they started as--something quirky and new and unique and fun
      BandMaid are surely big enough by now that they do NOT have to attach themselves to some commercial band with a small fraction of their talent !!!!!!!!!
      What about the Wagakki Band ?--They made the bold leap to become international. And they did not fall into the trap of attaching themselves to the coat-tails of some third-rate group !
      In fact, the Wagakki Band is about the only one in the world that BandMaid should ever share with or alternate with !
