Indeed, I remember in one interview on how Saiki's manager tricked her into listen to the music first before actually meeting Miku & Kanami. It was hilarious how she recalled the experience.
So sad for Shy Misa ; she'd looked lost with all the cakes & smoothie thingy, probably thinking, "Guys, where are the Bar/ Wine-shop". Remember their concert in Germany where she had a small bottle of 'something' on top of her Amp on stage and then even accepted a little gulp offered by a fan mid-set !!! Misa is definitely the "Coolest" & Prettiest Bassist around, love her love her lover her !!!
I am a true introvert myself. Many times people say to me, "smile, let loose, have some fun." In truth I'm having the time of my life, and like Misa we just don't show it very well. ROCK ON !

Miku and Band-Maid worked hard on promoting themselves for many years, and Miku still show up every time there is an opportunity to show her face and talk about Band-Maid. I believe this hard work and their vision has got thru to many people :-) This was a great interview, if possible I fell even deeper into the pigeon hole of Band-Maid. Maybe I fell into the Black Hole with them never to return, I'm fine with that as Band-Maid is my favorite band of all times. Greetings from Norway.
When you get them out, the differences in personality pop out. Saiki has a much more sultry and slower voice than the rest. She is very deliberate and matter of fact. She sounds more like a 30's or 40's movie lead actress with her speech pattern.
Saiki is for sure a Tsundere girl/woman a bit cold and distant but with a warm heart and a great smile, and I love her for that. I also love the fact that the 5 members all have different personalities, very different indeed :-)
I still find it difficult to square Kanami's overwhelming stage prescence with this slightly awkward ' 16 year old' persona off stage. She is no air head and her talents are prodigious. Thank heavens she is ego free and having said all that I find her totally endearing.
I think they all play a role in front of the camera and are very different in their personal lives. Misa, for example, is always very cold and distant on stage. (Or shy) In private she is a fun person who is always ready to crack jokes and pranks.
Forget Prosac or any anti-depressive drugs. If you want to feel happy for the rest of the day just see a couple of Band Maid’s self promotion videos, any Kawaii moments or interviews... Smile will come to your face and joy to your heart. Even when Misa-shi and Saiki-shi are in their strongest low-profile attitude they make me feel cheerful ... These five women together are a blessing for the soul... Amazing persons...
I really like these videos of the ladies away from the stage. It shows that they are just real women and so feminine. Bad asses on stage, beautiful women off. They couldn't be any better.

They are soooooooooooooo adorable. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to meet all of them at three different concerts back in 2019 before the pandemic started. It's no surprise that Miku was the most talkative, most smiling, most laughing, most funny one when I met them. The others were all very polite and very nice and cordial, but Miku is one of a kind out of this planet. So interesting. Sooooooooooooooo cute!
Little correction about the 2:20 comment in the description of the video. They visit the building/suite where the maid cafe used to be, but the occupant of the suite has changed a few times since Miku worked there, and at the time this video was recorded, the space was occupied by a bar.

In Japan, there are so many hard rock bands that band-maid is not very famous. However, music fans do not want to miss them. If they play live, they will attract fans. However, I think that after a few more years, things will change dramatically. Right now, they are famous among the core fans of music, but in a few years, I think they will be known to the general public.

I recently visited all these places in October 2023. They are all within walking distance from each other and can be visited within one day, but you might need two days in order to eat everything as many of the dining places only open for dinner, not lunch. 03:11 The izayaka which used to be Kobato's maid cafe is called 飯処びびんちょこ (bibinchoco) and is still there. The owner (03:14) and his wife are very friendly and the food is genuinely amazing. If you can speak Japanese, they are also very fun to chat to. They very nicely put Band-Maid on the playlist when I was there (was the only customer at the time). Only opens 5pm onwards. 04:21 Swiss is still in the same place, although the exact cakes the maids ordered were not available any more. There are multiple Swiss outlets in Kumamoto but this one is along Shimotori (the main shopping avenue). 07:23 Tapiking (タピキング オークス通り店) is still in the same place, although the food truck has been replaced by a semi-permanent extension of the building. I had an oreo-strawberry (Miku's drink), which was good but quite sweet (probably catering to younger tastebuds). 09:32 Houraku Manju is still in the same place and was tasty as expected. Cheap and good. Slightly chewier and less sweet than versions from elsewhere. I did not visit the horse shabu-shabu restaurant (Kuzushi) but I did visit Miku's old workplace (鍋やTAMARI 熊本総本家), which features in another video filmed in 2018. There's also a picture of Miku and Saiki from when they visited on the door frame. It's also nearby. Miku's old manager still works there and remembers her. Also doesn't open for lunch, so plan accordingly.

They are soooooooooooooo adorable. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to meet all of them at three different concerts back in 2019 before the pandemic started. It's no surprise that Miku was the most talkative, most smiling, most laughing, most funny one when I met them. The others were all very polite and very nice and cordial, but Miku is one of a kind out of this planet. So interesting. Sooooooooooooooo cute!

Little correction about the 2:20 comment in the description of the video. They visit the building/suite where the maid cafe used to be, but the occupant of the suite has changed a few times since Miku worked there, and at the time this video was recorded, the space was occupied by a bar.

I recently visited all these places in October 2023. They are all within walking distance from each other and can be visited within one day, but you might need two days in order to eat everything as many of the dining places only open for dinner, not lunch.
03:11 The izayaka which used to be Kobato's maid cafe is called 飯処びびんちょこ (bibinchoco) and is still there. The owner (03:14) and his wife are very friendly and the food is genuinely amazing. If you can speak Japanese, they are also very fun to chat to. They very nicely put Band-Maid on the playlist when I was there (was the only customer at the time). Only opens 5pm onwards.
04:21 Swiss is still in the same place, although the exact cakes the maids ordered were not available any more. There are multiple Swiss outlets in Kumamoto but this one is along Shimotori (the main shopping avenue).
07:23 Tapiking (タピキング オークス通り店) is still in the same place, although the food truck has been replaced by a semi-permanent extension of the building. I had an oreo-strawberry (Miku's drink), which was good but quite sweet (probably catering to younger tastebuds).
09:32 Houraku Manju is still in the same place and was tasty as expected. Cheap and good. Slightly chewier and less sweet than versions from elsewhere.
I did not visit the horse shabu-shabu restaurant (Kuzushi) but I did visit Miku's old workplace (鍋やTAMARI 熊本総本家), which features in another video filmed in 2018. There's also a picture of Miku and Saiki from when they visited on the door frame. It's also nearby. Miku's old manager still works there and remembers her. Also doesn't open for lunch, so plan accordingly.
