Thanks for the video. I messed up my last generator by not replacing the oil soon enough - by one day. We had to constantly run it for a week after Irma hit Florida. I'd planned on replacing the oil on my day off, but the engine froze the day before I could get to it :0( I picked up one of these Coleman's cheap and it ran when I got it but it's been sitting now for four years now. I've worked on various small engines before, but never saw a carb setup like this, so it had me scratching my head.
A tip I'd like to add to your info here... just something I've learned through working on small engine's.. A great way to clean out any gas tank - even an old metal one, is white vinegar. Dump the gas, fill with a couple of cups of vinegar and toss in a couple of big bolts/nuts, shake it around to knock any old sediment loose, let sit for 2 days and shake it around again, then dump. Add another 2 cups or so of gas, shake around and drain - you'll be amazed at how clean it comes out.
Another thing that I found to work well is just dropping the carb, and parts into a bowl of vinegar. I use an old plastic coffee can. Let the parts sit in it for a day or two and you won't believe the amount of sediment that will float out - even after you've "cleaned" it! It cleans out all the nooks and cranny's and leaves it like new.
Thanks again for the video!! Wish they'd all use this clip on design - it would make life a lot easier!

Yep I put rusty ones in plastic coffee can for a couple of days then in to ultra sonic cleaner for 30 minutes
Works great on bad rusty parts

This is my engine!! Pm0525750 from when I got home from Katrina. Watching the video. I worked a few hours on it today, drained nasty yellow fuel at the line entering the carb, just like you show. Shot carb cleaner into it. Guess I'll take the float bowl off in the morning and hope I get that jet cleaned. Watching just half way and I'm sunk. I can't take that carb apart like that, and find an O ring from where. Such patience. If carb cleaner and mechanic in a bottle can't clean this thing I'm done. Thanks, I enjoyed watching.

Nice job Jeff: I had a similar unit in my shop last year and took about1-1/2 gallons of water out of the tank, the guy also filled it the rest of the way with gas. Had to throw it all out. Thanks for great video's.

Lawn Boy used a set up like that on their two cycle mowers as well. I hope I can find the parts for the one I have. It's a good vintage lawn mower with electric start and the silver knuckle bar type drivers for the self propelling part of it. I do like SOME of those older units but man, finding parts can suck.

Something I found very strange with this setup is the way the gas line runs through it, it just seems like it would get pretty hot the way they have it running through the engine.

The older metal carbs are better IMO. That plastic stuff gets brittle. I have basically the same motor and it starts on one pull every time.

I'd like to replace all the gaskets, O ring, etc.. but can't find a part # of the carb for reference. I've seen several aftermarket carbs, with all the extras for sale... but different ones say, to replace XXX but different ones have different part #s.. even though they look the same. Do you happen to have the part # for the carb itself??

Nice very helpful video. For some reason when I pull the spring out on the carburetor main jet the main jet was stuck and would not come out. Also, can the carburetor gasket be installed upside down? The gasket holes line up a little bit differently around the nozzle depending on which side of the gasket is facing up. Maybe it doesn't make a difference?

I recently acquired a generator just like this one. I purchased a new carburetor. The engine fires but still won't start. I checked the coil. It was very rusty so I cleaned it. After I did all of this it still won't run. Any advice would be a big help. Thanks

I have the same generator and carb. assembly. My motor runs great but shuts off after around 30 minutes. It will restart but again shuts off and continues to do it after running 10-15 minutes. I bought the generator new in 2005 and has not been used for several years and stored drained and dry. Any suggestions?
