Yes sir. They are never used a lot and almost always left with fuel in them. Todays fuel alone doesn’t last long at all. I like the idea of a water separator

On my personal gen I added a water separation unit to try and keep water out of carb
I replaced the carb, why isnt gas going to the carb
Sounds like the fuel line is collapsed or blocked or the screen inside the tank is plugged up.
