    To be honest, after 2024 we should not make any predictions based on prior years... Literally anything can happen. Pog might be even stronger, Vingegaard should be recovered from the crash but can he match and beat Pog? Evanepoel might finally find support when he wants to fight and chase, Roglic will hopefully not crash out but can he compete with the rest? So many unknowns, and I think the terrain alone is not anti-Pog, rather quite the opposite - he likes climbing even more now!

  • @robinfidler165
    @robinfidler165 2 месяца назад +27

    Am I living in the past right now? Has 2024 season never happened? Mountain finishes and long climbs are supposed to work against Pogacar? Seriously, have you guys even watched this year’s Tour or Giro? It will be a freaking surprise if Pogacar doesn’t win all the mountain finishes, for god’s sake. Yes, he struggled at times in the past. But, also in the past, he didn’t know how to tie his shoelaces. Or how to walk. But as we saw, that was in the past. If Pogacar is anywhere near the form he had in 2024, he will absolutely dominate 2025 Tour.

      Pogačar tends to have a bad day on grand tours but he is getting more and more consistent. In 2024 Giro there were no signs of any cracks but in TdF he did suffer on (I think) stage 11, but the rest of the Tour (and the season), he was unbeatable. I think the idea of throwing in more harder climbs to make the Tour more interesting is crazy, if Tadej will be in similar form as this year. We all know his riding style and he will never do this, but in 2025 all he needs to do is beat Vingegaard in two TTs and follow him in mountain stages and the Tour is his. The only thing that can make this tour really interesting is Roglič not crashing in (or before) the Tour and somehow getting to his 2021 / 2022 form.

    I doubt that organizers could have designed a course that would have upset Pogi's 1st place this year. As much as I like watching an exciting tour, I hope organizers are not designing courses to counter any rider. Pogi dominated damn near everything this year and he earned it. I don't think its ethical or the organizers job to design courses to favor or penalize a particular rider based on their strengths and weaknesses. I do recall people talking about removing long flat timetrials when Big Mig was dominating and I didn't agree with that either; I believe the courses should be balanced, as much as one can be.

    • @tommyhighlife5597
      @tommyhighlife5597 7 дней назад

      The organizers work nearly two years ahead, this 2025 course selection would have been mostly if not completely finalized while Jonas was the champ and defending champ. I don't think Pogi's dominance last year had anything at all to do with this course selection.

    This narrative is nonsense! More importantly, if they tailor made a tour for Jonas and he wins, what is exactly does that prove? It proves that he is a limited rider who can only win when all the stars align. That would work AGAINST him in terms of legacy. It would also prove that it takes an entire effort from the organizers to defeat one man. That's ridiculous.

    • @erichweggelaar1320
      @erichweggelaar1320 2 месяца назад +4

      Great point. I must just add that organizers have unofficially designed the route in the past based on the expected outcome, I.e. to maintain crowds and what people want to see. In the Armstrong days, team time trials were especially popular. Fortunately he never won a tour. Pogi on the other hand is like merckx. You can throw one day at him, or 21 days. He's just superior to everyone else.

There is no such thing as the perfect rider and I like that they change the route and it's demands. I am not interested in a row compareable to the Armstrong time...

  • @Swampster70

    Pogi has gotten better with the long stages in the heat that used to be his kryptonite. His fueling strategy is also way better. His only 'weak day' on this years Tour was the one where he let Jonas win the stage in the uphill sprint. I'm guessing he was getting data to see what Jonas could do.
    He also doesn't have the duo of Roglic and Jonas on the same team to ride against. UAE are stronger, Visma aren't as strong. As long as he's in remotely the same shape as this year, he can seperate Jonas and the other guys from their teams at will.
    Stage 2 will need close attention. Coastal stages and the short sharp climbs will bring interesting racing.

    fact is that pogacar changed his training routine in last years winter, focussing more on climbing and 3 weeks racing. before Vingegaard came along Pogacar was much better than the rest even with his training focussed less on climbing and 3 week racing and more on classics. now its the other way around, he can and will still win one day races even with training not focussed on them and he needed this change in training to better Vingegaard in 3 week races.
    im affraid Vingegaard can never get to Pogacars level anymore, ofcourse if Pogacar is 100% healthy. even on his supposed weak point, (multiple) long climbs at altitude, Pogacar is now better than Vingegaard. Vingegaard will probably do better then last year due to his crash back then, but it wont be nearly enough to beat Pogacar. im a Vingegaard fan btw.

    Nonsense, everything that would be too hard for Pogacar would be even worse for all others. Each one of the top contenders will have to be careful not to squander valuable energy there where it doesn't count. We'll see who is hot and who is not...

    Realisticly, there is only one rider who can challenge Pog. And I think Pog will have to be at his very best to keep Jonas behind him in the 2025 TDF. Jonas was just too far off after his crash in the spring of 24 (still finishing second in the GC...). You will see a different Jonas in 2025. Just saying.

    Pogacar is the number 1 in the world, not even 1 stage could change that ! unless pogacar is having a terrible day. Even with the best team arround him Vingegaard cant win the tour... The only thing that can beat Pogacar is pogacar himself ;-)

    Big 4? There is no big 4, there’s the Big 2 and then a bunch of plucky antagonists. Remco is not even close to the level in the mountains as Pogi and Jonas and Roglic is heading into the twilight of his career and creates his own bad luck by poor positioning.

    • @ITALIAN_ROCKER
      @ITALIAN_ROCKER 6 дней назад

      Ofcourse Roglic is the past, he had his chance to win, but the way you speak of Remco, just get a life! You speak about the double olympic champion, you speak about the world champion, even TT (2 times in a row) and roadrace. Just get silent!
