During the first Covid wave there was no meat in the grocery stores around me, except for tons of racks of ribs. I guess nobody wanted to cook with them. I made gamjatang with ribs every week, it kept us going during a very scary time. I’ll always be comforted by it!
Hi Aaron this recipe reminded me of my late mom who loved neck bones. She also made them so soft, falling off the bone. Of course she didn't make your recipe cuz she was Polish & made it with sauerkraut and potatoes. Thanks for the memories. RIP Mom 🙏😪
My family also makes saurkraut soup with neckbones for Christmas eve every year. I wonder what it would taste like as a Mashup with Aaron's recipe. Maybe I'll try it.
Aaron, I just LOVE your recipes and the way you present them!! You allow this American grandma to cook like a Korean home chef! Every recipe I try comes out AWESOME!! Lol! My tummy and my family thank you!
My grandfather talked about Seoul and mountains all the time. I’m surprised he didn’t tell me about this! Let’s be real… happy Anniversary Aaron and Claire!
Hi Aaron I started eating korean food thanks to your channel and I am loving it ! I started with simpler things like your kimchi recipes but I'm sure I'll end up making more complicated stuff like this, I love discovering new flavors :) thank you for your work !
Everything is so perfect, Aaron skills and perfect lines, the wonderful dish that you can almost smell and taste, Claire's lively energy and radiance (i chuckled so hard when she said "don't worry about it!") i dont care how long it will take before i can make that amazing dish i will do it! Thank you so much! 감사합니다 :D
I can't bear it!!! I want to cook this so bad that I had to come back and look again! Right now, I sold my home and am in transition, living in a camper RV temporarily until I find a place! So I can't cook until I move 😭! Why did you cook this? It looks soooo amazing! I have cooked many of your recipes and I already know this is a winner!
4:37 Q: Why use your hands instead of a knife or scissors? A Great Chef Answer: It's the best way to work your love of good food into the meal for everyone to enjoy!
This is my favorite recipe you’ve done!!! I can’t wait to try making it. I just got back from Korea and seriously missing gamjatang. Thank you for this!
I buy pork neck bones, boil and debone them and use the broth and meat to cook dried beans in. Yes I skim the foamy stuff off the top as the meat cooks. I also strain the broth to make sure no small bones get into my pot of beans. Your pot of soup looks fantastic with the potatoes and cabbage. In the winter I make cabbage soup, no meat, just more vegetables. Your recipe just gave me new ideas! Oh I saw at our local Walmart in oriental area of food products, packs of Korean Army spam soup mix!! What a surprise and I said wow and wondered if you two knew about that? After seeing your video about it, I knew right away what it was!😁👍😂
I always thought 감자탕 meant 감자 like "potato". I was shocked when my mom told me its not. I was confused because I have never had 감자탕 without potatoes in it. 진짜 먹고싶다... 🤤
We also eat pork bones with potato, kumara, watercress and puha ( sow thistle). Ive got some frozen bones in the freezer gotta get some napa cabbage and spices and try this mountain with Ramen 😋
WOW!!! Aaron Gamjatang looks so delicious mouth watering.. Claire so blessed to have you, behind the sceen she also must be helping you right? Thank you for sharing with us
That is similar to american neckbones. I like the cleaning and boiling of the bones first to have a cleaner broth. I have never done that before, and we dont use the red pepper spice or the other things you use. We use potato and corn on the cobb to eat with the meat. We use onions, garlic and black pepper. I will try your way. Thanks.
Headed to the Korean market this week now. What's your preferred brands of korean noodles? Also, do you have a video for making rice with the leftover soup?
Mmmm mmm yeah I can see that hitting the spot specially when in hangover. Your soup was totally delicious no doubt. I'm eating spicy Ramen noodles with shrimp & mushrooms right now. Thanks 👌😋
really amazing!! i love deep flavor from the bones and eating off the bone! 1 time i had a misunderstanding at a Chinese market and ended up with 7 lb of back bones!! that was broth for days my Friends!

This recipe needs a lot of pork bones but can I use pork ribs? I don't think I can find pork neck or spine.
The pleasure that Claire is experiencing is clearly genuine as she is definitely not faking it.

Delicious!
Oh what a great idea! I was just wondering what I could use if I can't find this... Ribs sounds awesome!
@@ih82r8 more meat on the bone, but you still get a decent bone broth!

My family also makes saurkraut soup with neckbones for Christmas eve every year. I wonder what it would taste like as a Mashup with Aaron's recipe. Maybe I'll try it.
I'm from a African American family with German great-grandparents. We also make neck bones with sauerkraut! We also make Spareribs and Sauerkraut!😋
My family is also Polish and did this kraut ant potatoes thing! With juniper berries and rosemary. So good!!
"I think you don't need teeth for this meat!" --> Bookmarked this recipe for when I'm in my 90's and have misplaced my false teeth 😁
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I took it a different way..
Mike Chen also does that. Highly recommend his videos
