I just freeze dried the last of my home grown roma tomatoes because I was tired of canning. They should work perfectly in this soup. The tomatoes should rehydrate well in the tomato juice I canned, instead of using the water. I can't wait to try this. Thank you!
Yes it is expensive. It took me 5 years to save for it. Plus I sold extra chicken eggs, veggies & fruit that i grew. Save save save. It wasnt easy but I was eventually able to buy it on sale.

Aaron, it is my first time writing a comment for one of your videos, although I've been making food according to your guidelines for at least 3 years now. This soup has dismantled my sense of reason at an atomic level! It is so good, I am baffled, I can't wrap my head around it! It is a taste bomb! And it's light too, you can have it even if you're trying to reduce weight :P And it's ridiculously easy to make and quick! I'm flipping out! RUclips folks, you can trust Aaron, even though he sounds like a canvasser, when he says "trust me" :P You can trust his recipes to be delicious, time saving and cost efficient. Made this today for dinner and added some extra veggies to it. Just some carrots and corn kernals that I had in the fridge that needed using. Just finished dinner. I'm in a happy place right now 😊
I ran to the supermarket and am making it right now. By the way, my boyfriend hates cooking because all the steps and ingredients make him so stressed, but he loves making dishes from your channel! As we have chickens and grow our own tomatoes and spring onions so this is definitely one of my simple go to meals, only thing I do differently is lightly salt the tomatoes while I prep everything else and makes a world of difference to the all over taste and flavour and definitely no Ketchup...

Just made this but added some tofu for extra protein and subbed the water out for stock and did salt only (no chicken seasoning since chicken broth). Really happy and hopefully it can cure my cold. Definitely don't skip the ketchup, adds that tartness you need.

I love this soup. Sometimes I also like adding some ground chicken or turkey to make it a bit more hearty. Add a bowl of white rice on the side, and youll die and go to heaven! Well done Aaron. Another classic recipe. Love from USA
Oh my goodness, this soup is absolutely delicious and so easy to make! Made it exactly as instructed except that my eggs were more like thin chunks instead of ribbons but it was still really good. Thank you for another tasty recipe!
I just watched this video and made the soup right away. I didn’t expect to like it much if at all because I’m not a huge fan of egg drop soups but it looked fun to make and I had everything I needed. I just finished my bowl and it was SO GOOD!!! It was also fun to make. This is probably going to be my go to breakfast for the week. I will probably add shrimp to what left of my soup for lunch later.

This looks so delicious! Since we cannot get really good quality tomatoes here most of the year, do you think this would work with canned tomatoes? They are already partially cooked, but they are usually far tastier (even with the tinny taste) than the tomatoes I can buy at the market.
I just made it with cherry tomatoes and it was delicious. You would just need to chop each tomato maybe in quarts (what I did but mine were large cherry tomatoes) or halves depending on size.
It'll change the taste entirely, heavy cream works better with tomato soup if you're going to blend it. This is more based on the eggs with the tomatoes, so the corn starch works better. It's only to thicken the soup though, it doesn't add any taste.

I was going to make this for my daughter, but she is vegetarian. Do you think it would work if I used vegetable broth instead of water & skipped the chicken powder?
asian cooking is all abt flavour and does not use exact measurement. it's very much up to the cook. best is add less first, taste, then add more if needed. egg drop soup meant to be delicate in flavour. that's why some use less garlic. u can add as many garlic as u like.

I just stick my tomatoes in the freezer whole. When I want to thaw them, I cover them with cold water and as they thaw the skin peels right off.
