I mean Ale at 12 was already playing Jaco Pastorius to warm up so yeah she was taught with a lot of Jazz flair and she's not strange to smooth playing.
During the first verse Pau is playing triplets on each snare beat, later on she switches off to a right hand brush, which she drops before picking up her stick. Too much 😀
Did you notice Pau using a snare brush? Cool sound. It Could be heard in the beginning before swapping to a second stick, then you can see it again during Dany's gentle strums. I agree that Pau was not being challenged here. I'm no expert, so just an amateur view, but I noticed right away that it was just right. One gets the impression she can do any style. I've heard and read the comments about Ale killing the bass line, doing justice to Flea's. See previous couple of sentences, but I can tell it's not a simple supporting riff. Dany's voice is incredible as always, but especially how she nails the emotion of betrayal. She is always so good at emoting with the songs. In an interview on MTV Push, we find out this would be Pau's favorite break-up song, not that it's happened apparently.
Glad you got around to this one. This was fierce and passionate by Dany. Ale's bass line was jazzy and Pau was cool as can be. I remember seeing old clips of Ale practicing jazz lines with one of her teachers back when she was still a kid. She's still only 19 but you know what I mean.
I've read interviews with the studio engineers that did the original - apparently, they had to fix Flea's bass lines as he was a bit out of time. And here Ale casually nails it sitting on that chair as if its nothing to talk about 💙 Notice Pau's brush work in the intro and the bridge? Never heard her doing that before - she, too, makes it look effortless. These three ladies are just so talented.
She also loves Misa, from BAND MAID, who plays slap, like Flea. She can play slap, but chooses not to, and she can play a six string bass, but again, chooses not to. Ale is what she wants to do. Pau looked almost bored, even playing with a brush at one point. This is not a drummers song to show off. Then Dany. Stayed in the lines for Dave Nevarro's guitar, but takes the vocals from angst to angry. It's a song that sounds like it was almost written for them.
Pablo González Sarre, super accomplished Bass Player who was a friend of Luis taught her from a very early age....taught her Jazz riffs on the bass that I understand she still uses for warmups. She was killing Jazz licks on the Bass at 10 years old. There is a video of her and Pablo practicing....she was amazing at 10.
Good catch on Dany's volume knob thing! I used to do that myself when I was still playing. When I did my initial setup, I'd always go about 75% on my volume knob for loudness, so I could really drive some stuff when needed. It's pretty cool how they can play a song almost note for note like the original and STILL inject that signature Warning sound into it. I just can't get over how GOOD Ale's bass line is in this. Nice bouncy, funky, little riff that just fits perfectly! Dany's vocals are just on another level.😄 I hope Alanis sees this and at least comments on it.😉 Wouldn't it be fun if they could actually hook up and do a collab at some point?😍👍👍👍
To me, this is Ale's song, she took it and killed it. It was simple for Pau, I think she could kill it singing this as well, but Dany has that power and intensity that makes you believe every song she sings is her own song. I like that they cleaned up the lyrics because they do have a lot of young female fans. They got a parental advisory on "Keep Me Fed" due to the lyrics for "Comsume" and I think they might kind of wish they had gone another direction with that. But as far as covers go they have never missed, hell as far as original music and covers they have never missed. The talent these three have is off the charts.
I doubt cursing is the issue. It's the context in this case. It's one thing to call someone a 'greedy little fucker' but singing about overtly sexual things is too far out of pocket for them. Not that I would care if they did. That's just my take on it.

Great cover. Love Ale's bass line in this song - excellent! That's the most subdued I think I've ever seen Pau during a live performance!!! 😆 Thanks for the reaction.
I think they absolutely *slayed* this one. Ale calmly playing Flea's bassline like it was nothin' special tickled me pink. And Dany just knocked the vocals out of the park. Pau did a masterful job of putting in just the minimal drumming in the backdrop that contributed to the song, but took nothing away from the vocals, which in my opinion are the key to the whole song. Bravo, DPA!
Such a satisfying cover IMHO. Ale's main bass mentor is an outstanding jazz bass player based in Monterrey. There are videos of her ripping Muse, Jaco Pastorius, 6-string funk, and just about everything else. All three of them are exceptionally well-trained instrumentalists. Ale makes this groove look so bloody easy and chill. This is not a difficult song for any of them.
Wow, this is the best I have seen them do. It is hard to be the lead vocalist and lead guitarist at the same time! She gives the emotion this song deserves...What would Alanis say? Thank you...
Pau, for her it's like walking while listening to the music you like on your headphones, developing with the tranquility, calm and confidence of knowing that you are a multi-award-winning and recognized musician and with the inner peace of recognizing, being very satisfied with it, that this is not another of your moments to shine. Ale, like her sister, develops with the tranquility, which gives her the years of practicing on her bass with jazz exercises, leaving in her performance her own already known "mark" of excellence. Dany... With this Dany shows us why she's the leading vocalist of this tremendous spectacular power-trio... and period!! The band continues to evolve exponentially according to its potential in a constant, unstoppable, inescapable virtuous circle... This is The warning!! ⚡ For now I'm subscribing to your channel because I hope to see many more from you to my favorite band of all time. Thanks and greetings from México!! 🇲🇽 🤘😁✌️ .
Dany has said elsewhere that she doesn't mind the swearing if the song needs it but not just for shock value. Note that some of the earliest videos of Ale with a bass she was running through Jazz exercises. BTW, another reactor, Don-Music, remixed this and brought Ale's bassline forward and reduced the compression on Pau's drums. Don is a concert violinist that also plays bass, guitar and drums at least & he has always given Ale high marks for her skill.
DPA Killed it... and I agree - Pau was just vibing on the drums, Dany's vocal were insane, but Ale's kool funk was just the 'chef's kiss' for this cover.
Great reaction my friend. Yes, they did the song justice and more. Like you said, Danny's vocals on point and Ale's bass sound and play. Keep Rockin' my friend 🤘⚡🤘
Sorry, the world is dirty and that includes words like that. If it fits into the context of the text, it should go in there. I don't think they would use it in a song without end. I think it was done here more out of consideration for the radio station.
I love Alanis Morisette. Got very excited when I found out The Warning were fans and was doing a cover of Alanis. Thanks for your analysis. Made me realized that while Alanis was like a storm rising, The Warning started like a cool winter breeze before the storm. Both gave me chills.
Yeah, above PG not typically their brand. They're rock stars and don't have a problem dropping F-bombs, but they're good girls who understand that good little girls are looking up to them, and parents of good girls are watching as well. Ale sitting there as chill as ever, KILLING Flea's bassline, with zero effort. Her teacher taught her very well in all genres. Watching her fingers fly over that fret is something else.
The version they do is the original clean version for places where the song would get banned or simply not played on radio, if the Album lyric was in it .
@@marlew6629 Just went and listened to the original and it sounds virtually the same. The only difference I noticed is the original bass is "punchier" that Ale's, and that's just a tone adjustment or an engineering choice. As I've asked before and never received an answer... why the need to drag someone else's opinion? If you threw this down as a direct comment we could have some respect for you, but to just be a troll... I just don't get it.
@@f4the4d100 So because I said Ale's bass lines are more simple, I'm, a troll? Why do Warning fans act like 10 year olds and start crying whenever someone says anything you deem negative. I've played bass for 10 years. Ale's bass lines are not note for note to Flea's. Stop embarrassing yourself.
To me, this is an important step to showcase actual talent versatility they have at this time. Completely concur with your comments Mr Bus. They are The Warning. Thankyou.
Awesome cover, Ale making that bassline look easy. This is sort of a full circle moment as well. The Warning opened for Foo Fighters shortly before Taylor Hawkins passed away. Taylor played drums for Alanis on the jagged Little Pill album tour.
When you started speaking about tone in the vocal breakdown, I thought you would mention Dany's beautiful vocal tone. Yes the PRS tone throughout this song is gorgeous. We could use that tone a lot more! BUT the vocalization in this is, to me, a classic The Warning moment. I want that gorgeous singing on repeat. I want MORE! When I say it is classic The Warning, I mean DPA just tease you with the moment, never (or at least almost never) overdoing it. But I would love to hear them extend that for a good while.
I had heard of Alanis Morissette in passing but never listened to her so after I listened to this cover i went to check the original out and let's just say these ladies hit a home run and this cover is 100 times better than the original In my opinion, Dany's voice suits this song so much better and is phenomenal, and Pau and Ale, what more can i say they killed it and are both in the background, just chillin' like a villain! ⚡⚡⚡
Great reaction, this cover is 🔥 the song is very good and I like Dany’s vocals more than og singer. They do a job of four pro studio musicians and a singer with only three.
I love this song and love the Warning. I really wish you would react to the Japanese band Hanabie. I think you would enjoy them. I would recommend We Love Sweets, but they have a lot of great songs and are unique.
Great reaction. On this one Dani's singing is rigth on the money (Agree her PRS guitar tone shows versatily). Ale´s shwos that she can do Funk too. and Pau is donig the hardest thing for a drummer (not overplay).
2:14 I totally agree with you, Matt, but don't forget Ale's bass teacher is a jazz player. Ale definitely has the basics to play various styles, like smooth funk or even slap 🔥
Thanks for the insights like D putting her fingers on the volume know and Alejandra's bass work. Talent. They could any style of music they wanted. Dany 🔥; Pau 😎; Ale ❄️. Dany sang this like she was the one jilted and wrote the song.
Have listened to the song and several reactions to it several times since it came out. Enjoyed your take a lot. Liked your insight including Dany adjusting the volume knob during the bridge. Have to admit I didn’t pick up on it the first times I watched it.
Pau said it was intentional. She wanted to be smooth and cool because she's been hearing comments about the only thing she can do is beat the snot out of the drums. Ale is so cool in this. Her fingers dance on the bass. So cool. What a bass line. Yet again we get more Dany face. Love the Dany face. The passion and emotion. The more I listen to this cover the more I like it. It's so good. They respected it.
I think it was brave of them to do this cover. To many people their first exposure to them is their cover of "Enter Sandman" either when they were kids or the "The Metallica Blacklist" version. It leads people to ask if the next original songs they hear are covers of songs they may not know. They've spent a lot of time and energy trying to live down the 'cover band' moniker so for them to do another cover is risky at this point. They nailed it of course. Pau has said that this is the best break-up song.
Great reaction to an incredible flex by DPA. Just a guess, but I think they might have picked up this song from Rock Band 4, released in 2015. It certainly fits Danys range and shows off Ale's & Pau's flexibility and versatility on their instruments
the girls from , The Warning, For my taste it is a rare mix of legendary rock groups like Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett and the Black Hearts and Heart. greetings from Mexico.
Matt, great as usual! Yeah, Ale is the star here. If you watch the videos from the Pepsi Center CDMX concert, I think you’ll notice that her bass is turned up a bit more than inpast live videos. I know that a big influence of hers is Jaco Pastorius, which is a great bassist to look up to. Keep up the great work!
Lyric change might also have been something that SiriusXM benefitted from, allowing play during the day in all markets. I recall some FCC regulations restricting “off color” language to later in the evening. ALSO- yes- you’re right- it’s not their style. They won’t shy away from using it if it benefits the song, but they don’t need the shock value to make them cool. (plus, they said that their mother was really upset when they did go that way)
I’m not sure that FCC rules apply to a subscription-based satellite service like SXM. I hear F-bombs dropped all the time in both song lyrics and by the DJs on SXM Octane, which is the channel TW is usually played on, so I suspect it was more of Dany’s choice.
@@KansaSCaymanS True, yet we don't know which markets and outlets SiriusXM is going to market their material in. I agree that DPA probably didn't want to include the original language.

They had their way with this one. Damn. I can't stop listening to it. Great song, better version than the original for me. *Jagged Little Pill* is a special album, though. Without it, we wouldn't have this! Ale's jazz roots are coming out on this. She is cool as a cucumber, laying down funky jazz and driving rock in turn. Pau is having a party in the box there, behind those shades. Her brush work is appropriately tasteful. Dany slays the vocal, and the guitar work is an example of "less is more."
Absolutely LOVED Ale's funky bass groove. All three are amazing musicians, singers and song writers. Hottest Band on the Planet right now.
Ale is a baby faced assassin on bass and Dany's vocals are ethereal. ⚡⚡⚡

For my taste it is a rare mix of legendary rock groups like Suzi Quatro, Joan Jett and the Black Hearts and Heart.
greetings from Mexico.
Queens of Rock. I so loved that they cleaned it up. Its an awesome song and made waves back then, they still played it until they started to beep it
The Queens of the Covers !
This was fun for all, I think. And Ale just seems to be in her 'happy place' playing a more involved, jazzy bass line.
For more of that guitar tone, check out " Show me the Light" off their first album XXI Century Blood. Dany does a masterful clear tone guitar solo.
Pau chilling? Watch her switching from brush-rim to stick-rim to stick-stick back and forth without missing a single beat. It‘s a master piece of all of them.
Ale have a very well musical taste. Sounds really good. Great cover.
Absolute Perfection
Flea was the bass player in the original song she’s playing his bass lines!

Killed it!!! Their songwriting, musicianship, professionalism, talents, passion, charisma, and their extraordinary sibling dynamic, all blend their magic to make these young women a phenomenon that's going to rock the planet. Their interpolation of 'Enter Sandman' may be the best 'cover' of an epic rock song, ever!! Their entire discography, to date, is immaculately conceived!

Great cover !
WOW!
I like much more your new format!
They made this look easy.
Cool as F !
Check out Dons remix where he tweaked up the bass…pow!
I mean Dany..! Right! Right?? Phenomenal
