Written by a stressed out, homesick 15 year old. This performance was perfect. They usually performed it as a band and it's higher energy but dany alone on the guitar fits the song so well.
I don't think there will be a better version of this song. this way was just perfect. just like "Black Holes" and "Enter Sandman" with the added string section.
Dany's voice is SOOOOOOO so much stronger and this version proves that. Holy crap. I think this is her best vocals i've heard. I've watched her grow over the years and DAMN. I knew she was a badass on stage but holy shit! This is one of my fav songs and now this is my fav version of it.
This song is from their first album, "XXI Century Blood", released in 2017. Dany wrote it in 2015 when she was just 15 years old. It’s usually played with the full band, and there are several versions of them performing it live over the years. The most recent, besides this one, was at Teatro Metropolitan in 2022. Another great version is from their 2017 TEDx talk when they were 16, 14, and 12 years old. They also performed the song at a storytelling concert in 2018 at Agua Fría, San Pedro Garza García, Mexico, where Dany shared this about the song (translated from Spanish): "With your permission, I'm going to sit down to tell you a little more about this next song. Well, this next song is very, very, very special for me because, to be honest, I struggled a bit more when I first started as a composer. I remember being in Boston-we were studying at Berklee College of Music-and we had a composition class. It was a group class where each of us had to bring a composition. We would analyze it and see what could be improved. We had the task of writing a song. I remember that one day before class, I still had absolutely nothing. I was thinking, 'What am I going to do?' It wasn't because I was lazy or had forgotten the assignment-I just hadn't found inspiration for a song. In that moment of despair, I missed my home and my friends a lot because we had been away for a long time. I also felt like nobody understood that I didn't work the same way as others when it came to composing. That's when this song, *When I'm Alone*, was born."
Yes she wrote it when she was at the Berkley College and she was missing home, her friends and her cat. So human. It was a class assignment. I wonder what their teachers thought about these girls. Did they see it?
Yes, this is how you make a memorable performance. There were 8000 of us in the room with her that night as she sang about being alone. A fantastic memory for me and all the others who got to share in that performance.
"Well I don't know that band so it better be good at stage presence!" Haha! Now you're as big (and confident!) a fan as the rest of us. Thanks for your awesome reactions, analyses, and shared admiration for The Warning.🔥🎶🤘

I did a meet & greet with the band and was calm and collected in line until it was my turn. As I was walking up to the table I got a bit nervous but Dany greeted me so warmly and genuinely that I instantly relaxed and was able to have a very nice albiet short visit with them.
Dany has become my favourite female rock vocalist of all time. Power, Range, able to express every possible emotion, and always connects with the audience.
Absolutely. In my 60 years, Dany is right up there with the best. I'd easily put her alongside the likes of Janis Joplin -- very different styles of singer, but both able to project emotion and tell a story with their songs, and absolutely capture the hearts and dazzle the minds of their audience.
I gotta agree. And I love Janis Joplin and Lzzy Hale. But Dany is already there with them for me, at such young age, she can be so sweet and a crazy beast from one song to another. A cool roller coaster of emotions.
54 year old Mexican here and I also agree. Although I didn't expose myself to Janis Joplin back then so I can't say much on her, however, to my personal pedestal I would include Karen Carpenter. Man, she even make me cry when I was a kid. She was not a rock singer I know, but man, her voice was so captivating as well.
Knowing how much you love "drummer girl" Paulina you MUST watch the 2 videos for "Black Holes" and "Breathe" from the same show...I don't think anyone has ever been more emotionally open and vulnerable than her at that moment... Make sure you have captions enabled...
This is ten years of building a relationship with her fans on a very personal level and with honesty. That crowd knew the words and story behind every song TW played that night regardless of the language.
*When I'm Alone* *When I'm Alone* is Dany's song... 15 year old Dany wrote this when the girls were at Berklee College of Music (aka BCoM) in Boston back in 2015 attending the summer session they offer(ed)... she got very homesick and also had a homework task to write a song... she hadn't any ideas, time was running out, and being homesick was devastating... she recorded a teary vlog about it... afterward she realized she could harness the emotions and pain she was feeling to write her song... i haven't heard what grade she got for it but many of us hope it was an A+... Dany has also stated several times that when she writes a song, it is from her heart and whatever emotions she is feeling at the time... so here we are enjoying this truly heartfelt song of loneliness and heartache... TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
All three of these young women are special, with all of their talent and magnetism as performers, their humility, honesty, and genuine appreciation of their fans always shines through. Dany, Pau, and Ale are a gift to everyone who loves real music played by real musicians. Happy Birthday to Ale on her 20th Birthday! 🎂🎁✨🎉🎀🎶⚡
We don't get to see the internal battles of our musical heroes. This comes close to revealing one. They are living their dream, and have always lived their dream. Sometimes it's hell. This homework assignment was inspired by a moment of homesickness at Berklee College of Music in Summer, 2015. It's on their first album, and has been a fan favorite ever since. Don't miss Pau singing *Black Holes* (on piano, with a ten piece string section!) and then *Breathe* with solo piano, at the same concert. She also sang *23* there, which is an incredible rock ballad. *Revenant,* live at Teatro Metropolitan in 2022, is an amazing acoustic ballad. It's a different kind of stage presence!
@@warrenmccann9156 I agree! In a just world of music, *23* would have climbed the charts rapidly. Pau, always the emotive empath, gave us a vivid glimpse inside the heart of a person who can never have the lover she/he wants. I draw parallels to *Crimson Queen,* Dany's song that started the *Queen of the Murder Scene* story. Many of us have a *23* in our past. That song brings it all back for a few minutes!
Enjoyed your reaction very much, I have always looked forward to your reactions of The Warning! Can’t wait for the next one, you can’t miss with any performance by them, they are so passionate when they perform!!!😊🎶⚡️
Thank you appreciate your take on this special performance by Dany she had that crowd in the palm of her hand. They love her and her sisters and they show in every song at this show it's awesome. 🔥⚡
Charisma and stage presence is off the charts with all three sisters! I recommend Breathe and Black Holes from the same show, to get a glance at her amazing sister, Paulina!
Another great reaction to The Warning! Thank you for circling back to them again! There is another aspect of The Warning that you have yet to discover, and that is our beloved singing drummer, Paulina. You've heard her do harmonies, during your first reaction to them on 'Evolve', but you haven't heard her take lead vocals. She does it in two ways. First, she, like her two sisters, is a classically trained pianist, and is actually the creative genius that sparks the beginnings of most of their songs, on the piano. She plays until she feels magic happen, then takes it to her sisters and they all work on the music and lyrics together and rockify it. Here is a ballad that she played live at this same concert, just her, alone, on piano with a string section accompanying her. It's a song she wrote when she was just 13 years old after reading an article about someone who had died of a drug overdose (and FYI, she was sick with the flu at this concert. 8 seconds in you can see her turn her head and cough before singing). This is called 'Black Holes': ruclips.net/video/OFNORZKpS1k/видео.html The second way she takes lead is by putting on a clinic for Phil Collins to see a drummer singing lead. This is called '23': ruclips.net/video/dq6k4v9i8kc/видео.html - This is from a concert couple years ago. She sings it at the Pepsi Center concert as well, but since she was sick, she opted to not reach for her higher range, so for me, this is the better version. You also get a good look at the laptop she uses to control the show (clicks, stems, backing tracks, lights, etc). And don't get me wrong - Phil Collins is a legen. Great singer and great drummer, but he rarely sang lead and played drums at the same time, and when he did, he often focused is attention on the toms. It wasn't as intricate as Pau's performances. This is second nature to Paulina as she's been singing lead and drumming since she was 12. She has deceptively busy hands during this performance. Just watch her work the high hat. Oh, and she's only 20 years old here.
You should have included breathe with black holes that way she gets the full impact with that one two punch. Excellent recommendation of "23" from Metropolitan theatre. 👍
@@SDsailor7 Yeah I considered Breathe but didn't want to overload her. She's only doing The Warning once every couple months as it is. I figured if she at least does Black Holes, everyone would pounce on it and tell her to do Breathe.
She is just simply amazing. I was at this show. The atmosphere was electric. I will always remember how she was able to make 8000 people, including me feel what she was feeling. All three of these girls are very very special.
Dany doing Dany things, i never doubted you would love this band, live is their super power, and they inspire people. 11yo Quinn learned guitar to The Warning's Queen Of The Murder Scene album and now at 17yo has a band called Freeze The Fall and she is guitar/vocals, Aria 16yo bass/vocals and 16yo Jonah on drums. The Warning are more than a band and The Warning Army is not your average fan base as your finding out. be good to one another and ROCK ON !!
Thank you for your reactions- you're amazing- and side note- LOVE your hair style- you radiate confidence and are the best. So many of us Warning fans are your fans.
Dany always seems to sing from her heart, and in this case, as noted by others. from personal experience in a "desperate moment" (translated from her comments). Thank you for Continuing with The Warning. I don't think you'll get any bad stage presence moments although there are some very different moments, like this one.
This is an amazing song written by a homesick teenage girl. The version from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX includes her sisters as well, and it's a bit heavier.
I've seen the warning twice now and it is quite an experience in the connection they create with the audience. Several years ago when this was written, The warning had a few slower ballads. In fact they had one recently when they did Revenant. I think these more relaxed moments create some of the best atmosphere that the warning projects. Their concerts are pretty much all rock now when they do local appearances but I would like to see a little more mix of these slower songs with the rock. I think the versatility elevates it to another level.
You have to see “Black holes” and “Breathe” in one video. This songs are performed by Paulina “the drummer girl” ☺️ you’ll be surprised how good she is like a front performer!!
Glad to see you coming back to The Warning. Although I wish that you would have turned on the subtitles to get the full context of what she said to the crowd.
Hermosa reacción , siento que eres muy parecida a Dany, con un alma dulce, amable y gran ser humano, por eso te sigo, porque eres muy linda, feliz navidad.❤
While the auto translate captions will give you an idea of her monolog, the full-concert video has "official" English subtitles, and is indexes to find specific songs. Great reaction to an incredible band.
I’ve seen them live many times and saw them play this song at least half a dozen times, but not this way. I’d love to see her do it fully acoustic in person, but I fear the days of this song being in rotation outside of special concerts has come to an end.
Thank you for listening to this beautiful performance. The Villareal sisters have a way of transmitting their art, making full grown men cut onions, just like myself. Keep Rockin' my friend 🤘⚡🤘
Pau's solo performance from this same concert is also incredible. She sings Black Holes, followed by a song she said she'd never play live as it was too emotional called Breathe. Amazing!
It's THE Dany's song written as a lesson when she was with her sisters at Berklee music school for a summer class in 2015. She was homesick and she compoed this marvellous song
Need to have English subtitles on for what Dany was saying: Dany's speech translated: "CDMX I don't think anything can beat this view, I take advantage of these moments to tell you something that I have in my heart, when I made this song I was in a moment of despair, and I feel that it is a feeling that many of you could know, especially when listening to this song you can feel accompanied, and I just want to tell you that the music is there for you, that you are not alone, you have me and my sisters, our entire team and you have each other too, we are all united here for one reason and that seems very beautiful to me, so I want to invite you tonight to remember those moments when we forget that we are all here and that everything is possible, and sing that song to those moments and at the end of the song let them go completely, do you think so, it's perfect!"
The concert that I attend on Monterrey Pabellón M in October 2023 had a memorable performance of Dany, and she cannot handle the emotive moment of this song all of you must enjoy. There is no official video but there are some fan's full concert videos
It would be interesting to see you react to some of their interviews, making ofs or aftermovies. Basically they have the same personality off and onstage but they just flip the switch from loveable/goofy girls next door to loveable/badass rockstars!
I agree with those who say you need to witness Paulina (aka Pau, aka the drummer girl 😊) capture the audience as a vocalist. She will rip your heart out with emotional ballads on a piano (Black Holes, Breathe) and dazzle you while she drums and sings rock ballads (23) and hard rock songs (Dust to Dust, Narcisista).
True Warning fans know how much this song means to Dany. And how much it means to hear when Spanish speaking fellow Mexicans sing this song back to her in English.
If you want to see the drummer Pau unleashed from behind her drum kit as front woman check out Narcisista live at the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. Pau’s stage performance will blow your mind.
If no one else has said...the live solo version from Monterrey is IMHO even better, as we see a more emotional connection between Dany and her home town audience
Loved your analysis. Please don’t leave out your “drummer girl”. For similar vibe to this song, try “Breathe” or “Black Holes” from Pepsi Center, for a more Rock performance you should try “Narcisista” at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX.
I loved your reaction. Just so you know, your video isn't coming up on a RUclips search for "The Warning Reaction" which is the word search I usually use. This may explain the low view count for a reaction to this band. I don't know if it would help to add the word "The" as in "The Warning", the formal name of the band.
And seein's how The Warning Army made me aware of Freeze the Fall, made me a member of The Cold Front, and @iiwdpn is promoting them, I'm going to add in my support as well. Any of FtF's songs from their live show at Revelry are good, but as a place to start, try "Glitch" or "Broken Glass" from that venue. "Glitch" ruclips.net/video/rwDN4O2_wxI/видео.html "Broken Glass" ruclips.net/video/diKrTDZ6E3k/видео.html
What a pity you activated the subtitles in the part where he speaks in Spanish, what he said to the audience was one of the most emotional and intimate moments of that night. When you react to The Warning, turn on the subtitles because when they speak in Spanish they always comment something relevant :)
Pau singing Black Holes and Breathe in this same concert is unforgettable.

Hermosa reacción , siento que eres muy parecida a Dany, con un alma dulce, amable y gran ser humano, por eso te sigo, porque eres muy linda, feliz navidad.❤
So glad to see you back on The Warning!
Welcome back to The Warning . .
And a very merry Christmass to you and your family . . Take care .
Bye from NZ
💐👍👋🇳🇿🍻twa
Thank you for listening to this beautiful performance. The Villareal sisters have a way of transmitting their art, making full grown men cut onions, just like myself. Keep Rockin' my friend 🤘⚡🤘
Pau's solo performance from this same concert is also incredible. She sings Black Holes, followed by a song she said she'd never play live as it was too emotional called Breathe. Amazing!
It's THE Dany's song written as a lesson when she was with her sisters at Berklee music school for a summer class in 2015. She was homesick and she compoed this marvellous song
She holds you captivated in her palm
now at this same concert Pau, drummer, sings her solo song with her also playing piano....it will bring you to tears...
You really should do The Warning for every video! ❤😁
DANY! I love you! you´re amazing! The Confident Singer I really enjoy your inside info! Thank you Merry Christmas!
I'm so happy I've been warned.
She's good! I bet she knows who The Leslie Spit Trio was in the 80s.
Amo THE WARNING
This is Dany's Anthem. This was her proving to herself she was indeed a real artist at 15.
A single girl with a guitar and 8000 friends.
The Warning are always amazing. Everything they do, no matter what.
This is a beautiful performance. Dany is the Automatic Sun 🌞
Now you simply have to see Pau do Black Holes form the same concert! 💙
One small, young gal, had 8,000 adoring fans in the palm of her hands!
The concert that I attend on Monterrey Pabellón M in October 2023 had a memorable performance of Dany, and she cannot handle the emotive moment of this song all of you must enjoy. There is no official video but there are some fan's full concert videos
Really, they're very very very good!!
❤❤❤
It would be interesting to see you react to some of their interviews, making ofs or aftermovies. Basically they have the same personality off and onstage but they just flip the switch from loveable/goofy girls next door to loveable/badass rockstars!
I agree with those who say you need to witness Paulina (aka Pau, aka the drummer girl 😊) capture the audience as a vocalist. She will rip your heart out with emotional ballads on a piano (Black Holes, Breathe) and dazzle you while she drums and sings rock ballads (23) and hard rock songs (Dust to Dust, Narcisista).
Dany!! 🔥🤘
Pau singin Black Holes and Breathe on piano is something!!!
Viva México... The Warning!!!!!!!
True Warning fans know how much this song means to Dany. And how much it means to hear when Spanish speaking fellow Mexicans sing this song back to her in English.
Dany is hope. Dany is love. Dany is music.
Check out Black holes with Pau very powerful solo
go watch “Black Holes” and “Breathe” performed by Pau at the same concert. at Pepsi Center.
Still their best song to date.
Adoro os teus vídeos
If you want to see the drummer Pau unleashed from behind her drum kit as front woman check out Narcisista live at the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. Pau’s stage performance will blow your mind.
Love your new hair!!! Short and sexy as hell. Love your reactions to AJ and others.
If no one else has said...the live solo version from Monterrey is IMHO even better, as we see a more emotional connection between Dany and her home town audience
El rock de The Warning es muy adictivo ,un rock que se disfruta
Loved your analysis. Please don’t leave out your “drummer girl”. For similar vibe to this song, try “Breathe” or “Black Holes” from Pepsi Center, for a more Rock performance you should try “Narcisista” at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX.
🤘🏻🔥👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Shes a superstar
The Queen.
lol. She's a rock star, of course she draws the audience in. That's what they do.
I loved your reaction. Just so you know, your video isn't coming up on a RUclips search for "The Warning Reaction" which is the word search I usually use. This may explain the low view count for a reaction to this band. I don't know if it would help to add the word "The" as in "The Warning", the formal name of the band.
Great song ... great review.
But I just have one question, how did she know how I felt when I was young ... 😟
Locura!!!
I would like to see her react to disciple and z from this concert
🔥🔥
And seein's how The Warning Army made me aware of Freeze the Fall, made me a member of The Cold Front, and @iiwdpn is promoting them, I'm going to add in my support as well. Any of FtF's songs from their live show at Revelry are good, but as a place to start, try "Glitch" or "Broken Glass" from that venue.
"Glitch" ruclips.net/video/rwDN4O2_wxI/видео.html
"Broken Glass" ruclips.net/video/diKrTDZ6E3k/видео.html
Please go watch Paulina the drummer perform black holes and breathe from the same concert! You really need to react to this
Janet do you know spanish? Hell yeah you won me over haha
Huele a melón.
🤘
What a pity you activated the subtitles in the part where he speaks in Spanish, what he said to the audience was one of the most emotional and intimate moments of that night. When you react to The Warning, turn on the subtitles because when they speak in Spanish they always comment something relevant :)
